What is that outside me door?

Tis cannot be!

Ye gads, it has arrived!

I laugh at the other fools

Am I the chosen one?

Why am I so lucky?

What have I done to deserve this?

Pizzahutt, has once again delivered,

fresh bounties to thy doorstep.

I indeed, am a priviledged man!

I pity, the other poor souls biggrin.gif

It was a common custom at that time, in the more romantic females, to see their soldier husbands and sweethearts as Greek heroes, instead of the whoremongering, drunken clowns most of them were. However, the Greek heroes were probably no better, so it was not so far off the mark--Flashman

To steel our souls against the lust of ease;

To find our welfare in the common good;

To hold together, merging all degrees

In one wide brotherhood;--

To teach he that saves himself is lost,

To bear in silence though our hearts may bleed;

To spend ourselves, and never count the cost,

For others' greater need;--

To go our quiet ways, subdued and sane;

To hush all vulgar clamour of the street;

With level calm to face alike the strain

Of triumph or defeat;--

This be our part, for so we serve you best,

So best confirm their prowess and their pride,

Your warrior sons, to whom in this high test,

Our fortunes we confide.

--- from "Pro Patria" by Owen Seaman. Written as something of a response to Owen's "Dolce et decorum est".

The Peng thread is gone

willows droop in mourning, but

a new thread is born

Nebelwerfer fire

rains down on Moriarty

black smoke columns rise

Heaven is angry

at the dissident Cesspool

Meeks! Get back inside!

PeterNZer

will soon learn: flamethrowers are

bad news for HTs.

I have reported

a bug. Will a credit in

CM2 be mine?

Impatience rises

stoking flames of discontent

send a goddamn file!

Soft footfalls whisper

through the trees. Too bad there's an

ambush up ahead.

All hail the Air Force!

Once there were many Panzers

now the field is still.

Recon infantry

outpaces its tank support

Why can't tanks cross fords?

Wonderful liquor!

The advancing GIs have

captured Calvados.

Spent cartridges fall

and rest among the stones and

bones of bloody France.

My Outlook has not

chimed in a long time. Where are

all the bloody files?

The Kiwi can write?

I thought him illiterate.

You learn something new...

Artillery falls

on empty ground. At whom do

you shoot, precisely?

Three platoons or more,

numbers are irrelevant,

the winner is clear.

I wouldn't have thought

Shermans could kill Panthers from

the front, but sho 'nuff.

Maybe Andreas

can teach you some tactics when

he prevails as well.
