Air Support says it's "En Route" at the start of the battle?

I can't seem to use a pre battle air attack. Don't have this problem with any other game. Is this normal? It then switches to "preparing" but I've never even ordered an attack of any kind. After 20 turns played I still cannot use any air support as either the Germans or Soviets.

This stumped me for a few seconds then I remembered, we're eastern front WWII here. You've got no ground control over your air assets. If you purchased them or if they're included in the scenario then they're autonomous. The'll arrive in their own time, attack whatever they want (when the opponent or you).

Thank you MikeyD! Well that must explain it! That's interesting to me that the Germans would use forward observers to control air movements on the western front but not the eastern. Does this have historical context?

I suppose the Luftwaffe didn't have so many airplanes left to use during the last months of 1945. And the situation with airsupport being reported as "preparing" for a very long time maybe depends on how close to the end of the war that scenario battle is being fought.
