Hamstertruppen Vorwärts!

Tonight's update not only has the usual amount of Mod madness but also an excellant New Article.

Entitled Panzer Vorwärts! Aber mit Verstand! which translates to Armor Forward! But with Intelligence! It is a translation of a German training circular issued by the German Armored Force containing 30 basic lessons of armored combat on the platoon and company level derived from the Wehrmacht's experience against the Soviets.

It's good stuff and a will come in VERY handy as you throw your tanks around in your next CM game!

Enjoy!

In PCs, holding down ALT and pressing combos on the number pad gives different, non-English letter thingies.

ALT+148=ö

ALT+129=ü

and so forth.

Y can mess around with it in Wordpad, because the combos are pretty much universal in the Windows-platform textual business applications, IIRC.

If you have "Character Map" installed, look in there for the key combos for all the weirdo characters. If not, you can add it from the Windows Setup tab under the "Add/Remove Programs" applet in Control Panel.

Poor, benighted PC users...on a Mac, you can hit a special key combination, and after you do, the rest of your post is translated into a perfect, flawless, gramatically correct representation of whatever language your key-combination activated. All you have to do is type in the English, and watch the language of your choice spill out across your screen.

Seanachaï poor soul.

That was a pathetic attempt to have us drool in front of your well groomed fur.

We TRS80 users are actually speaking into a small device called "ĦǿΨзę" which you plug into some obscure back orrifice.

Hence the nickname of that device, "Gut feeling" where the marketing was said to prefer an attempt along the "Trojan Hamster" line.

That device is so "embedded" with the user that its use is pretty straightforward.

No fancy key combo like you Mac users here, when you are actually trying to convey something meaningful in a forum, you just have to sit TIGHT and wince and what you are thinking is posted in the desired language.

No to be truthful most of the time the post is just gibberish.

We in the computer industry have diagnosed this and branded that behaviour: "Stop talking ****".

Now on most posts it shouldn't matter much.
