sburke
Pretty interesting and funny article about a team of Iraqis taking on ISIS by disrupting their communications channels https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/they-planted-porn-in-isis-propaganda-just-for-starters-then-sowed-chaos-and-confusion-in-the-caliphate/ar-BBFpDrb?ocid=spartanntp
A Canadian Cat
Oh that is cool. At the end they describe an op to take down the Daesh news web site and that several Western Intel analysis thought it was just a publicity stunt and not a valuable action. That seems weird to me. I would think getting the enemy to suspect their own information and argue about what is real and what is not is a good thing. Especially if the good guys can inject information they want into the news feed. Anyone got a thought or an article explaining that?
sburke
probably embarrassed they didn't think of it first.
Erwin
Having had some experience with PsyOps and Cyberwar, one has to ask what is the purpose of releasing this info to news outlets. Is the news article real itself or part of a deception strategy? The problem these days is that one really cannot believe much of what is in the media. It's an irony of the internet that while communications are easier than ever b4, it has become almost impossible to verify anything (unless one has personal contact/knowledge of the subject).

Mind elaborating on what your experience is?
MikeyD
You reminded me of some old CIA attempts at psy-ops from back-in-the-day. A lot were just plain embarrassing. There was that circulated faked photo of Gaddafi cross-dressing, the faked photo of Bin Laden clean shaven in a tailored suit. There was the (against Geneva Convention) humiliating photo of captured Saddam in his underwear. There was Manuel Noriega's suspicious 'teddy bear collection' presented to the press, and also the weird claim that one of Saddam's sons had a framed photo of Jenna Bush by his bedside. Oh, they also circulated a photo of the wife of a Gaddafi son in a string bikini, meant to shock his ultra-conservative follows.
