konstpan
I'm playing "pleasantly shaded woodlands" as US and I've tried all possible ways to place MMG in second row bocage and have LOS with no luck. The machine gunner gets in position pretty low. After searching I bumped into a 2011 post that mentioned that MG tripod is low and that is the reason LOS is blocked. Is it?
Cobetco
yeah the US 1919a4 is kinda a pain like that, hedgerows, low stone walls and even tiny bumps can cause issues, the positives are that deploying on hill crests or woodlands is safer than a taller MG like a 42 or vickers. so its trade off you just have to be aware of.

Warts 'n' all
As far as possible I try and find decent firing positions during the Set-up Phase. Rather than fiddle about during a battle.
user1000
looks like a bug
konstpan
Is it possible for a bug to exist only on specific scenarios and not game wide?
akd
Possibly, but what looks like might be causing the issue here is the slope behind the bocage. I guess it is a sunken road, but looks like it might be overdone, creating fairly extreme geometry that is not interacting well with the fixed ground position of the MG, dropping it below the base of the bocage segment. konstpan
That's my thought also, it has something to do with the scenario map and not the game engine. Or maybe it is that way from the author on purpose.
General Jack Ripper
On an upslope like that leading to a bocage, you'll never get a gun deployed on that. On flat ground it works just fine. That's just plain awful terrain to fight from.
Warts 'n' all
Also, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "second row bocage". Are you talking about finding firing positions for your MGs once you have reached the sunken lane?

Once I reach the sunken lane objective.
