Bootie
First of apologies for posting this in each forum but its the easiest way to ensure the message gets out there. The updates continue slowly but surely. I have now made the Proving Grounds self supporting cutting me out of the equation to an extent meaning authors can upload, delete when playtested and manage their own scenarios. Being in charge of your own scenarios is something that has been requested since I set out on this path of updating the Repository and the like so this is merely another box ticked on our journey. Unfortunately the form that went along with the manual uploads is now redundant so it is up to each author to truly put as much info down as they can when it comes to creating new content and posts and ensuring it gets listed int he correct category. See the instructions here. Next stop is The Scenario Depot.
Badger73
@Bootie, Thank you for all your work on this. TPGII is a neat way to showcase designers and get good feedback before release. Wish list item for TSDIII. I miss the old repository's rating system. I really liked it's ability to quantify the quality of scenario's and campaigns posted. Please consider adding that kind of feature to the new Scenario Depot too. Thank you again. LOL, Wow that was quick. @Bootie doesn't waste time. About two hours from request to implementation. Impressive.
Bootie
@Badger73 Ive went away and had a think about it and I think it would be better implemented in a page so have come up with the following. This will not be used on The Proving Grounds as it is pointless rating scenarios being currently designed albeit the proving Grounds was also the testing grounds for it.... I think it looks pretty good... Once I get the next round of Patreon funds into the bank account i will purchase the software which will allow me to list the top 50.. currently it only covers the top 10. Any idea what we can call the tab area.... just 'TOP 50 SCENARIOS'.
A Canadian Cat
"Popular Uploads" or "Popular Scenarios" Question does the software you are looking at require a log in to vote? When it creates a top 10 (or top X) list does it only include top rated items that have more than a certain number of votes?
Bootie
Yeah we can go with Popular Scenarios. Question does the software you are looking at require a log in to vote? No 58 minutes ago, IanL said: When it creates a top 10 (or top X) list does it only include top rated items that have more than a certain number of votes? No... it lists the scenarios with the highest average rating.
A Canadian Cat
Which is a problem because a really good scenario with say 20 votes and an average of 4.2 will show up ranked lower than a scenario with only one vote that happens to be a 5. Not a good thing. It would be much better if the tool ignored any scenario that had less than 5 votes for the purposes of ranking.
A Canadian Cat
Which turns out to be easier said than done for WordPress - sigh. I'll PM you with the only weighted ranking plug-in I could find.
Bootie
We could always just do a thumbs up thumbs down system... nice and simple.
A Canadian Cat
Sure. I do like the idea of a top ten list though.
Bootie
Actually I think I will stick with what I got... I see that I can decide to not list until after 5 ratings so I have selected that. A good compromise IMO.
Erwin
I have to say I liked the way info was presented in the old Scenario Depot. I liked the ratings system for all the games, and it was easy to upload a review with rating. I can't recall how SD handled campaigns.
Bootie
Ghe old scenario depot has/had nothing at all to do with me and I didnt wish to try and replicate 15 year old software.

When I read the plug-in home page for the one you are using there was no mention of such a feature so I thought it did not have that it. What you have done is perfect!

Didn't mean for you to copy something - only that the usability feature was good and intuitive. A lot of new sites seem overly complex and not particularly user-friendly - like designers get caught up in doing cute things on their site "cos they can" - but it's not intuitive for the user.
Bootie
No problem I hope you dont find the new sites confusing. Regards

As said, rating "works in process" doesn't make much sense. Rating finished scenario's and campaigns does. This will be a great feature for The Scenario Depot. Thank you for your kind consideration.
