CHEqTRO
Hello all. If you have read something about the battle of the Bulge you will know that the germans, for the initial phases of the battle tried to look like US soldiers for being able of advance further without making contact. Far that reason, US uniforms were given to german soldiers and some captured US vehicles (mainly some few Shermans and a bunch of M8 Greyhound) were given to the main line of advance still with US markings.Nevertheless, as they werent enough captured tanks (and a lot of them broke even before reaching the main line) the germans decided to modify some Panthers Ausf G to make them look like M10 Wolverines. They weren't too many of these, but it would be a cool addition
Rastamon
I have a historical Panzerbrigade 150 scenario ready to go once I get my hands on CMFB and convert from CMBN. Anyone up for making M10 looking skins for the Panthers? I could never quite get them looking right.
Ts4EVER
You need more than a skin for that, it would require a new model, since they bolted additional armor plates to the panthers, removed the gun muzzle etc. They also had these Stugs, which apparently they tried to disguise as Priests (?).The attached infantry of Panzer Brigade 150 consisted of Fallschirmjäger and SS Jagdverbände. After the Operation Greif scheme fizzled they were thrown into the bulge as a standard combat unit and fought around Malmedy.
panzersaurkrautwerfer
I believe what the Stugs were supposed to be remains a mystery to this day. I imagine the Germans just hoped if it was olive drab enough with sufficient stars it'd pass for American.

Ts4EVER
Well they did add more plates and screwed off the muzzle... my guess is they wanted to ape a Priest. That being said, did the Germans even have a captured Priest at that point?
MikeyD
Be careful what you wish for with that erzats M10 Panther. Can you imagine fighting in a Panther where the buttoned TC has zero outside vision? I mean absolutely blind.
Rastamon
Yup, that was one of the problems in the battle for west Malmedy. Several of the tank commanders were seriously wounded when trying to look around. The cupolas had been removed and replaced with a sheet metal hatch.

Stephen E Lyons
Always thought the Stug in this photo looked like it was trying to be a greyhound recce vehicle.
