acctingman1969
There are a few PC games dealing with the naval aspect of ww2, but most (imo, all of them) fall short. I'm not much for throwing money into a game (aka....kick-starter type things) but if someone where to tackle this genre/era, I'd throw them a few bucks. I just can't believe there isn't a good ww2 naval game out there. Too niche perhaps? Oh well.....I can dream!!
agusto
IIRC there is a mod that converts Harpoon 3 to a WW2 game.
Gumboots
I still play 'Fighting Steel' from time to time. I would sign up immediately if their was an updated version in the offing.
Cheese
Sounds like some else wants some South Pacific Naval WW2 games!
sburke
I downloaded Task Force 1942 just recently out of nostalgia. That was a cool game when it first came out. Having to intercept Japanese supply convoys and bombardment groups while trying to keep the forces supplied on the canal. Very neat concept and well done for the period. It really gave you an idea of the difficult choices regarding the resupply effort, what the condition of your ships was etc.
Melchior
Because what you're usually getting is a shooter, not a game designed to abstract or deliver to the player the experience of life on a fighting ship.
agusto
What about the Silent Hunter series?
Melchior
A shooter. Sometimes good (III), sometimes bad (IV), sometimes ugly (V).
Skwabie
I feel that a in-depth ww2 naval game would essentially be a carrier and naval air simulation. So essentially... not much ship but much aircraft. Action/arcade style ww2 ship games are a plenty tho.
