Rokko
Could someone please tell me exactly what type of tank this is? The picture is from a collection on buzzfeed btw. I think I can't post the link here due to the graphic nature of some of the photographs, but I strongly encourage anyone to check them out. They are gruesome, yet strangely beautiful as well in some cases. Edited February 18, 2015 by Rokko
Ghost of Charlemagne
That's a T-64BV. Can you PM me the link, please.
Rokko
Thanks. The name of the photographer is Max Avdeev. I've sent you a PM, but others should be able to find the pictures by his name through Google. Those are not T-64s, though, right? Ghost of Charlemagne
Thank you. Not sure, it is difficult to tell from the rear. Either a T-64 or a T-72, most likely a T-64 when it's in separatist hands. Edited February 18, 2015 by AtheistDane
DMS
IR is to the left of the barrel. T-64. Those are not T-64s, though, right? Wheels. T-72s. Edited February 18, 2015 by DMS
Bennay
making an uneducated guess here on the secound picture but they could be t72's just by the space between the road wheels hard to tell with all the mud and the angle
Rokko
Can you tell which version? It is no T-64BV right? Edit: DMS, you were referring to the first tank right? In that case discard what I wrote. Edited February 18, 2015 by Rokko
DMS
Can you tell which version? It is no T-64BV right? Looks like BV. Dynamic protection. But who knows, may be it is some kind of field modification? Donetsk is large industrial city, they can put armor and make small modifications there.
Rokko
But you mean the first picture, right? I have looked at some more pictures and I think, the tanks on the second picture might be T-72B1s
Nidan1
But you mean the first picture, right? I have looked at some more pictures and I think, the tanks on the second picture might be T-72B1s You are probably correct about that ID. B2s and B3s would have the Sosna-U gun sight mounted on the left top of the turret. The way that one tanker is lounging in that area of the turret would seem to indicate that there is no sight mounted there. There is a great deal of talk that the Russians have supplied the rebel forces with T-72B3s, but I dont think there is concrete evidence of that yet.
