Minor mortar bug

Recommended Posts

weapon2010,

Unless I am badly informed, there shouldn't be a tracer in the first place. Real mortars of the period and since don't fire anything with tracer or have a burning pyrotechnic within them, as is the case with hand grenades of the period. Now, if you want to talk about the old muzzle loading double fired and single fired mortars of long ago...

Regards,

John Kettler

I can frequently see mortar rounds in view 4, but camera placement is important. Placing it a bit behind the mortar's location and panning the camera slightly above the default horizon line, you should be able to catch the round on the rise. Moving the camera towards the hit location (but not too close), you should be able to watch it descend.

Every projectile disappears if you get too close with the camera.

Yeah, you have to use the "optical zoom" to get those pics of mortar bombs in flight, with the catalogue numbers painted on 'em. Often (in the case of mortar shells), they look like they've disappeared, when in fact they've changed display from "tracer glow" to the actual image of the bomb, as you get closer.
