Stalins Organ Posted June 25, 2013 Author Share Posted June 25, 2013 Yeah it's all just a matter of gas - the Spitfire's wing and fuselage arrangement could have been redesigned to carry more gas.....but the British did not actually have much need for a long range daylight fighter, once the Mustang was there it filled what need there was so why bother? with the guns removed a lot of volume was freed up that could carry more petrol without much redesign required. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
