Fed
I am trying to find out what issuing the Hide Command does. Will the troops still see enemies in range? Will the troops fire back when the enemy is seen? Will they be spotted less often? I have looked around and tried some testing, but I don't see much difference. Thank for our help, Fed

womble
Hide does several things. First, it tells your unit's TacAI to priorities not being detected over other activity, so they will only fire if it's the only way to survive. Second, your troops will go, and mostly stay, prone. This will generally keep them behind any available cover and concealment, so they'll be less visible and get the best protection possible. They will also present smaller targets to shell fragments. Third, your troops will spend the majority of their time "Hiding". Look at their activities in the bottom left corner of the screen. Hiding troops don't spot very well, and they only sporadically switch to "Spotting". There are probably other effects. It's vital to appreciate that the effects of Hiding will depend hugely on exactly where the hiders are, and what the terrain is that they are hiding on. Trying to hide on a square kilometer of level pavement isn't going to have much beneficial effect (though it will help against shell bursts). If you've got a wheat field to hide in though, you're the next best thing to invisible.
JonS
It's vital to appreciate that the effects of Hiding will depend hugely on exactly where the hiders are, and what the terrain is that they are hiding on. and sometimes it also depends hugely on where the enemy is. Hiding behind a low wall can make you all but invisible ... as long as the enemy is looking across the wall.
Wodin
We need an ambush order. I do know about target arc etc..but a ambush order would seem abit more simple..also it would be a great way of staying low but keeping your spotting ability up.
Kanonier Reichmann
Used to exist in CMBO when you would order a unit to hide but give it an ambush command where a TRP looking icon would appear and you could place it in an action spot within range. Worked quite well too. Regards KR
Erwin
It's been hashed over many many times, but for the record +1 for an ambush command in CM2.
