A request - a good Let's Play

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure how many are familiar with Let's Plays, but they are essentially recorded video AAR's... A good one is done slowly with lots of commentary describing the players thoughts, reasoning, game mechanics, etc, etc....

There are a few Combat Mission Let's Plays but none that I've found are very good. They're generally done by people with no experience with the game, no tactical sense, and so on...

I would encourage a grog/CM expert out there to strap on his boots and do a great Let's Play for us. They are incredible learning tools when done well and very entertaining to watch. Not to mention, excellent advertising as they make a complex game like CMFI more accessible.

We have been getting a good dose of AAR's recently, and they are also terrific, but great Let's Plays are hard to beat...

Perhaps a quick battle Let's Play would be a good place to start...

I would do one, but I suck at CM and need all the help I can get!! :)

I have one trundling along the pipeline but I'm not going to give it any ETA. I'ts a QB Let's Play.

The subject demographic would be people who have never heard of Combat Mission or those who already play Combat Mission but are still learning the ropes.

So no grog porn about going through subtle differences between types ballistic caps and primers or citing pages out of the division commander's diary. Only mild grog foreplay, like why the mortar is such a useful tool.

The emphasis would be on achieving that certain mindset, the thought processes that a proficient commander should be exercising while he plays. With useful tips and tricks sprinkled inbetween.

I make no claim on being a proficient commander, but I've been known to talk a lot. I also just noticed that this thread concerns a "Good" video. I cannot give such a guarantee!

This video AAR was posted earlier over at The Few Good Men

Pretty good and nice to see one of my scenarios on show.

He also mentions he has a CMFI video to post as well

Cheers Pete, thanks for the compliment. Hope you enjoy the AAR above. Still learning the ropes of video editing and there is always more to learn in CM, even after 10+ years. :)
