CM:BN version 1.01 & new 1.10 patch PBEM

Gents,

Playing my oldest brother in a vicious H2H battle (oh, I think he regrets introducing ASL to me when we were kids now...) and having a great time of it. Got my CW pre-order in, of course.

However - as with CM:BN previously - once I run the 1.10 patch, will our PBEM games become incompatible?

Not sure, But I would think so until he gets a free update that will be available for CMBN, but from the sounds of it, it normally releases a little later than the next Module.

But I do not think the difference is much, but it might be a week.

I think you can have different versions of the game at the same time. You just have to make a backup copy of the 1.01 executable before you upgrade and swap them out as needed. I haven't tried it myself but it should work.

As pointed out, you can have several installations of the game. You could either upgrade your current installation and then install CMBN into a separate directory and then patch that particular install to just 1.01.

It's possible to have different executables in the same folder and rename at least one of them to indicate it is older (or newer).

In the past (CMx1 and CMSF) you would load a PBEM in 1.01 and the save as a normal intra-game save. Then upgrade to 1.10 and load the intra-game save and create the PBEM you send to your counterpart - who needs to upgrade to 1.10 too. hope it will still work like this.
