duckEfuzz
This has probably been picked up already, but just noticed in a game i'm playing that my armoured inf platoon leader is out of c2 with company commander but is still able to call in off map mortars. He's without radio so is this a bug?
Wreck
Is the company commander out of C2? If so then the platoon leader may be using a radio in a nearby vehicle, which would explain things.
duckEfuzz
Company commander is in c2 but platoon com is in middle of field with definately no radio's near. i'll see if i can get a screenshot up. i'm sure i could have got this smaller

Wreck
If you are trying PrintScreen, it probably won't work. http://combatmission.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_Make_Screenshots
duckEfuzz
Thanks wreck. i was using FRAPS but the file was too big. i've used paint to get it to jpeg but in order to upload it needs to be 19kb or less. i wonder how everybody manages to post those supurb pictures in the screenshot post? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/705/c2mortars.jpg/
Wreck
19kb or less? What? At least on the site I use (imgur), there is no limit.
duckEfuzz
That was uploading to BF (bad idea), got it sorted now, see above Wreck. Back to my original post about c2.
Wreck
Well, from the screenie, 2nd Platoon HQ is out of touch with C Company, but it is in touch with 1st Battalion. This explains how it gets artillery. Now, I am not sure how it is in touch with 1st Battalion. This should not be if there is no radio, except if 1st battalion HQ is in the battle, and it is in contact somehow. I don't see any other HQ unit in your screenie, but it may still be in the battle. Is 1st battalion HQ in the battle and in LOS of 2nd Platoon HQ?
duckEfuzz
I didnt notice that, but your right he is somehow in touch with battalion. I dont have battalion on map but i do have a FO, company hq/xo and they're all out of LOS etc.
Wreck
I'd say bug, then. Can't think of anything else that might explain it.

That green dot means does not mean that the Platoon HQ is in contact with the Batt HQ, it means that the Coy HQ is in contact with the Batt HQ.
duckEfuzz
So you think bug too akd?
Holien
Are you sure the mortar is off map? I thought I could see a mortar team nearby? Just doubled checked and yes indeed off map... Poor eyesight... Would seem to be a bug, don't let your opponent know....
duckEfuzz
lol too late, he's reading the thread and examining the screenshot as we speak
akd
So you think bug too akd? This is a known game limitation. If a unit has a qualified observer in it, it is always able to access indirect assets, regardless of its own C2 or radio status. OUT-OF-CONTACT on an asset has nothing to do with the currently selected spotter. C2 or radio status does matter for on-map indirect assets, however. If the asset is not in C2 to an HQ with a radio, or isn't nearby a vehicle with a radio, then you will see OUT-OF-CONTACT in the artillery menu.
duckEfuzz
Thanks for that akd. Not meaning to presume but maybe that'll change shortly
