  1. I'm not sure how possible this is, but other games i have played that relies on action spots has given you the ability to choose various options. At the moment the game selects random action spots for the size of the squad. I was wondering how difficult it would be to have the ability to regenerate that random action spot selection, maybe a key press that randomly generates another 3 action spots until a pattern you find desirable is accepted. Maybe this would solve the MG behind the ridge problem. Great to have all your feedback steve, i cant think of many other games where we'd enjoy this sort of treatment!
  2. In this case i would make sure my out of C2 SQUADS leaders has +1/+2 leadership which will make up the shortfall. (and if you happen to remain in C2 then your in an even better situation!) A good thing to do is to make 1 platoon full of good squad leaders for those risky out of C2 missions, whilst the other platoons that remain in C2 can have all the average leaders. I remember a game i played with low leadership squads and the moment they went out of C2 and came under fire they ran for the hills! i spent the entire game trying to order them back into action!?! My company commander became a long distance runner as he sprinted up and down the line lol!
  3. Its been a while since i was testing this. But roughly speaking i found it was the units direct leadership that effected its ability to withstand fire and being in command just enhances that direct leadership. The give away for me was the fact its very very cheap to make your company commander +2 L which means it must not have a major impact. If you reason that a company commanders leadership only affects those in his small team, then it makes sense. What i've found is that if you expect squads to go out of C2 then its imperative to have high leadership squad leaders. On the other hand if you expect your platoons to stay more or less in C2 then dropping the leadership of all leaders wont impact a great deal.
  4. The way i figured it, probably incorrectly, was by looking at the points values of greater leadership values whilst picking troops for QB's If you bump up the L value of a squad leader, where he controls 11 men the cost is considerable. Whereas if you apply the same bonus to a company commander the cost is small So i feel that the Leadership bonus affects the moral/abilities of units DIRECTLY under that leader, BUT ANY EFFECT GIVEN by the speed of infomation exchange up and down the C2 chain must be small due to the small cost of making your 3 man company commander team +2L So for my games i try to select +1L for all my squads and dont worry too much about higher up the chain, i just make sure i keep C2 which is about posistioning not about bonuses, and that setup makes for a very tough force indeed.
  5. I think Veins been reading this thread, cos we now have his explosions mod v2. Well worth a download me thinks.
  6. Just dont expect to get anywhere fast whilst on the tracks. It is the longest minute of your life when you've planned a bad route in PBEM and you sit there watching your vehicles being overtaken by your infantry!
  7. I know how you feel. Sometimes i just cant face all the organising and swap out for a smaller battle. Personally i would like a force list that i can select from to then place on the map, for me that would really simplify the set-up. I know i'm being lazy but it would really improve the whole experience. Whether its a viable thing for BF to introduce i dont know, but i suppose it could be added to the wish list, yeah, make that wish number 2,145,768!!
  8. Check out all of veins mods. There is explosion and flame mods in amongst his many excellent ones. Recently i removed my 'z' folder and was appalled when i played the game un-modded, the graphics, UI etc was awful!! And thats not knocking BF because i know it didnt bother me when i first got the game, but it really did prove to me just how lucky we are to have such dedicated and highly skilled modders! If i were you i would set aside an hour to trawl through the repository and try out as many as you can, trust me it will be an hour well spent.
  9. Keep going Juju!! I bet you havent even played a game on CW yet all this supurb modding. Cheers mate!
  10. ive had my engineers throw demo charges at infantry..... but they were all out of ammo and grenades!! was a very interesting fight.
  11. Many thanks Marco. Yours is definately another 'must have' mod!
  12. Normally its injecting the spirit that hinders my equation. single malt anyone?
  13. I'm sure that our donations wont allow them to give up their day job to mod CM (oh they wish...) But being as i'm not local enough to buy them a pint it will have to do.
  14. I hear what your saying para. The trouble is that its a rock and hard place situation. We know we cant donate to all the modders out there, and there really are some supurb ones. But the other option is not supporting any and that would be a shame. So for me, if i see a thread which gives me the opportunity to say a financial thank-you for a mod i will definately be using then why not do so. There are other threads showcasing other modders hard work, so why not support your local modder today and offer to donate, after all if the battlefront boys see just how much we want these mods (and we all know we do!) they may just start engaging their services, maybe....
  15. I thought this needed bumping! Can you arrange a little pot for us to throw some pennies in Phil? Thanks Juju. The game wouldnt be the same without it, as we've all been reminded of since the release of CW. Except this time you've really gone and done it, now your never going to be allowed to stop modding!
  16. Sorry i was under the impression that you were interested in that particular problem, that's why you posted? But i see now you were just letting us know about that potential bug. Many thanks for that.
  17. Sorry, that's what i meant by wego. Appx 5 or 6 PBEM games so far without problems.
  18. Hmmmm thats strange, ive played/playing about 15 or so now, both wego and vs AI and havent noticed it! Or at least my human oppo hasn't told me that he started behind me!!! And yes i do review the map to work out my tactics prior to selecting my troops. Im only using small maps though , maybe that's a reason?
  19. Hi, if you check your private messages i wil help you, save clogging up this thread.
  20. Thanks for that akd. Not meaning to presume but maybe that'll change shortly
  21. lol too late, he's reading the thread and examining the screenshot as we speak
  22. I didnt notice that, but your right he is somehow in touch with battalion. I dont have battalion on map but i do have a FO, company hq/xo and they're all out of LOS etc.
