Tigrii Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 Is it possible to get a sniper team to engage only with the sniper rifle (i.e. tell the spotter not to open up with his secondary weapon) in order to stay hidden better? Mord Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 Most people (me included) usually will find a good spot for snipers and just let them choose their own targets. That seems to be the best use of them...It's been an irksome issue since CMSF, that the jerk that hangs with your sniper will open up and get them spotted...unless you can get lucky and have the security guy way behind where he doesn't have a LOS/LOF...but even then you probably gotta keep an eye on him 'cause he may make his way to where he does have LOS/LOF. YankeeDog Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 Ya, it's generally best to not give sniper teams direct target orders, and let them choose their own targets. Direct target orders seem to increase the chance that the 2nd man will open fire. It's also best to engage at a distance of at least 200m or so; at closer range, it seems that the "self defense" instinct of the 2nd man is more likely to kick in. But I do agree that this is still an area of the code that could use some tweaking, not only for sniper teams, but also for AT teams.
