  1. I'll let you know. As I'm lazy, I may use the executables on my office Windows computer…
  2. Good idea. Bring back some Hotchkiss tank as an incentive gift to BFC !
  3. Indeed I'm curious to see how you'll handle the 101st camapaign. After their drop, the 82nd and 101st got scattered, units intermingled, and many paratroopers troops lost a good part of their heavy weapons. These two issues (especially the latter, as the mixed units issue is not that important) are impossible to recreate with the editor (you cannot remove automatic weapons from the squads).
  4. Thank you all gentlemen! It's always a pleasure to post on this forum, peaople are always helpful. And the winner is… Canada! I found exactly what I was looking for at MacMaster university! Thanks @Pinetree ! I definitively need to have a look at @Butschi's tool. Up to now I didn't because I was under the impression that his ttol was only working with Windows, not Mac. I will check. Thank you for the offer, but this is not the area I am looking for; I'm planning a scenario in the Bracciano area, a few kilometers North from Rome. Tons of interesting stuff but, curiously, I wasn't able to finad any map of the area I'm looking for?! Anyway that's fine, the MacMaster map is all I need. Thanks again to all of you!
  5. Hi, The question is all in the title… I'm looking for any useful resources to create realistic CM maps of Italy during WW2 (for France, the Geoportail is great… Once you go to CMFI you feel naked…). - historical maps or aerial photograph - topographic maps Thanks in advance for your advices!
  6. If my archives are up-to-date, it is a historical scenario. It has been created by Jon Martina, who AFAIK is only designing historical scenarios.
  7. Slightly off topic... I'm wondering if a small add-on to CMBN has ever been considered... I would gladly see the introduction of the French Résistance in this game... Now that the partisans are available in CMRT that wouldn't require much effort, and there are plenty of interesting potential scenarios to make use of them!
  8. Thank you. I agree @Simicro's English is impressive. Mine… Well, a little less unfortunately… A nice feature of this forum is that people are of very various origins: I've noticed at least one people from each Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand… And I probably missed some as I don't participate in the modern titles subforums. A new slogan for BFC: "War unites people". Hmm well, not that great I'm afraid… "Make war, not love" ? OK, I'm out.
  9. You just forgot one thing: during the order phase, I have to select one of my unit at point A and use stack commands to order the unit to move to point B, then click on the waypoint you want to check LOS from (point B?), and use the 'Target' command and move the pointer to point C to check the LOS.
  10. I just played „Devils Descent“ as my first (!) campaign last week. It shows its age. Narrative is good, but balance is terrible; a newbie, I was able to win by a huge margin every single mission. I've heard that machinguns were les effective at the beginning of CMBN, so balance may have shifted a lot. „Letzte Hoffnung“ is reputedly not playable anymore as most of the armor disappeard from the OOB after one if the CMBN update (compatibility issue, I guess). A pity as it had a great reputation. I may give a try to this one very soon. Small enough for a beginner. Features Italian and I haven't played CW much up to now. As a creator I prefer historically accurate campaigns, as a player I like anything as long as it is entertaining! Oh that's the reason why I missed it. I don't play modern games. Now we all look forward for your big BP!
  11. Only 3 campaigns ! Are you joking? Have you any idea how many community people did create three (non stock) campaigns or more for WW2 titles? Any idea ? OK here's the answer: Michael Jones (dragonwynn) did 4 CMRT & 1 CMBN campaigns Lille Fiskerby did 3 CMRT & 1 CMFB campaigns That's all. So once you'll release your 5 campaigns BP you'll simply sit at the top with a total of 8 releases… By the way I noticed that your very first (CMBN) campaign, "A Bloody Ride", is not available anymore at the repository and might not be playable anymore, as it might have been impacted by TO&E changes between game versions. Is it correct? Didn't you ever consider to upgrade it? I'm also aware of your "Welcome to Sicily" campaign for CMFI (which I haven't yet played); I'm curious, what is the third one that you created before 2014?
  12. I HAVE to know what kind of jobit is. Sounds like the perfect job! I spent around 24 on my first, small scenario (platoon size). Next to zero historical research, small map with no overlays... For 40 scenarios that would mean 1000 hours !!!
  13. I'm curious to know the time you'll spend on that HUGE BattlePack!!!
  14. Hi Stev, Hi BFC! It's already early May... The sun is back, summer is clos... But what are the news from the frontline?? Any tentative schedules for the planned 2023 releases quoted above (which is all the stuff related to WW2)?
  15. Merci Phil! But we all know playtesting is the easy part of it. Your work... and in general all community author's work... THAT's what deserve proper recognition.
  16. Avanti! Hard to win as the US. Nice to play as the Italian. I liked it a lot!
  17. Hello, I know some of the forumers own nice collections of German units bibliography. Does anybody own one for the following units: - 22. Infanterie-Division (Luftlande) - 90. Panzergrenadier-Division - 1. Gebirgs-Division I'm thinking of some nice scenarios which would feature these units in 1943. Any help appreciated!
  18. Thank you @IanL I think it would be great for such details to be included in the game manuals for reference purposes. That would save modders a lot of time. (Same thing for the briefing txt file formatting, by the way).
  19. @kohlenklau has a special tallent to push me in the most positive sense! While his last idea regarding the bmp issue didn't work, it drove me on the way to the correct solution. Yeepee! So here is the correct way to generate a CM-compatible bmp file with Gimp (it should also work with Photoshop): - your image shall be in RGB colors mode - dimensions shall be 170 x 170 pixels or below - bmp export shall be made using 24-bit encoding (this option you must chose in a box that opens when you export your file, see screen cap below). - And,… and,... and… You MUST tickle the compatibility option of this same box (sorry it's in French in the screen cap, but it should say in English: "Do not write color space information"): You MUST tickle this option otherwise the file won't show properly when imported in CM. I hope this will be helpful…
  20. I've found the solution, see my post in the bmp thread!
  21. Working for hours on developping stuff (wether icons and scenarios), just to loose even more hours because of silly file formatting. How frustrating. Anyway I'm confident: I do use Paint.net on my Windows computer. Anyway, it's interesting that two of the most powerful graphics editors (Photoshop and Gimp) can't produce bmp compatible with CM! That's not far from being a bug!
  22. Well Phil, before leaving you really should let us a basic description of each of the mods you've designed: what they do, wether they're tagged or not, how to use them, etc. This way, we could make Bootie uipload them while you're out. With a bit of luck we'll have finished to upload them all before you come back to Combat Mission… ... Well, not that sure… Iif you paint pergolas and build dining rooms as fast as you design mods and scenarios, you'll not be away for long!!!
  23. Thanks again for taking the time to care!… This solution was proposed by @Ivan Zaitzev and while it works for him, unfortunately it doesn't for me. Probably because gimp does reincode the file when exporting - it's not a "simple" save. By the way, you haven't seen the look of my Tac and Strat map bmps once loaded in CMFI.… I'll try tomorrow with my office Windows computer. I'm pretty sure it will work. Like I wrote on the other topic, bmp is not an Apple friendly format…
  24. Well you're half correct on this joke: bmp has never been a super format, IIRC essentially a Microsoft stuff while Apple pushed for the tiff format. That's why I'm having issues basically, using Apple stuff. As 95% of the users are on Windows I guess it's indeed not a problem… But you're totally correct: BFC stayed with a format that is getting pretty old; the game is getting as old as its players… As for the issue: thanks for asking. No, I've checked that it's not related to the pixel size. I've even been much surprised to find stock scenarios with more than 170 pixels in one dimenension… and it works!!!!
  25. My bad. I compared the expanded Master Map file size to the old, smaller Master Map. Not surprising that it was smaller !
