  1. This is not as easy as it looks. One of my PBEM opponents is shooting up my MRB as I write this. My addition to the topic here is that the ‘psychological’ aspect of CM is HUGE! I am taking losses and it is causing me to slow or change plans which you cannot do with the Soviets. failing forward I guess. At least my opponent is having fun with the target practice.
  2. I’m not jumping to conclusions, but… My opponent was regular and exhibited a good understanding of the game, and he is winning big. He had been playing multiple turns per day. I have reached out via slitherine mail. It might just be he’s on vacation. We are pretty far along. Maybe 2/3. This is what has me curious about the integrity of the tournament because This is the last oppo I would expect to ghost me.
  3. My opponent is MIA for several days now. He has been fast and regular up to now. The scores don’t appear to be moving either. Is everything ok with the tournament ?
  4. My files are not saving ! I’ve redone the turns several times, hit the OK and they just won’t upload or close.
  5. I am only seeing turns on 1/2 my mirror ? Is that normal ? I thought this match was mirrored and I actually left the Ivan password blank as instructed I am on US turn 5. I have not yet deployed the rooskies I don’t think my opponent is on the forum here.
  6. Yep. We tried that, and tried running off the integrated graphics as well. thanks for your suggestion!!
  7. I am helping a friend move into a ‘new to him’ machine. Unfortunately he is not super tech savvy. I’ve built a few machines for my kids but I am really not that savvy either. All titles except CMCW can launch from the new machine with no issues. He has the whole series except CMFI. Again, they all work perfectly except CW. Cold War will not launch. Period. Blue circle spins for half a second then nothing. It has been activated successfully many times. thus far we have: *installed all windows updates *used several different services to unzip the files including winrar and 7zip. *Turned off windows defender and reinstalled CW (numerous times) *rolled back Nvidia driver and rolled it forward again. It’s an older Quadra NVS GPU. It’s running 385.12. Rolled back from 389.08. Just installed 392.68 and that does not work either *Reinstalled directx *tried turning off Realtek audio and launching the machine is Lenovo T530. Machine was lightly used EBay special and runs great. Frankly, I was shocked. CMBS runs fast and beautifuL on it. Basically it is a business machine with a GPU. It’s old enough that Nvidia no longer supports the GPU, so the drivers are ancient. *win 10 pro *i7 3250M *nvidia NVS 5400m GPU *8gb ram CMCW and all the other titles were all installed and working on other machines. I believe CMCW may still be active on his backup computer but does not run well as the backup machine has integrated graphics. there is a long-standing ticket active with battlefront and after some initial impressive weekend service he is still about 8 days into a service ticket with no solution yet identified. has anyone in the community experienced this or have a suggested fix. thank you
  8. Necro-posting here. In a recent huge battalion sized CMBS PBEM, I had four mounted spotters in bfist and all the X0 hiding together in a solid building and I could target with just about any spotter on any drone footprint. had three drones up I think, one eagle and two ravens. The spotters could precision target on their own drone footprint and area target on any drone footprint. The BFIST could also area target on any drone footprint. I think this was because the XO were sharing spots. I never knew what that little PDA symbol really meant until this one particular game. I had a lot of indirect assets and a lot of fun in that PBEM.
  9. Great work! I found your video super informative.
  10. Every once in a while I watch a vehicle or team make a thrilling (stupid) charge into enemy territory and I realize that what I thought was a face command was actually a suicidal movement command.
  11. Some other important factors. the tanker and the two IFV attackers are all fanatic conscripts. I was fast moving them up in concert from different angles because all my tanks are dead and this was my last chance to try and gang up and Swiss cheese this challenger with the auto-cannons. It’s a timed attack and The point was to get a flank shot on one side or the other. it’s a no win scenario for a tanker. I’m sure the conscripts were baffled.
  12. I’ve got room for an opponent or two if anyone is looking for a game .
  13. I’m thinking it’s the conscripts ? It’s so frustrating to be in the squad with them, watching them fuss with the thing and then the rocket flies off and misses on at least one shot, a mortar round caused the conscripts to lose their spot and they missed a tank. They are being shot off rooftops and it’s generally not good to to miss as airbursting rounds are typically sent back as a thank you.
  14. He has a fair point about body armor.
  15. I lose too many guys unnecessarily. I don’t like that. when I play the AI, I try to hold myself to very low casualties. when I H2H against a human ? There is only one casualty I care about.
  16. If your point is that it’s Swiss, ok, granted. The fit and finish on those guns will be awesome. but US and NATO will issue so I consider it a US weapon. we saw this before with the SCAR, the XM25, PS90… list goes on. but it will not dethrone AR15 and 5.56 anytime soon
  17. .308 has been our heavy round for years. It’s a ballistic twin for 30-06. Lots of rem 700 in .308 in the us armed forces. our snipers really like .300 win mag, which is an elk round but also works for tangos. The big Barrett guns in .50 and .338 are really heavy and basically crew served those are more anti material.
  18. Sorry to bark at you. I can’t believe we just had a caliber war. What is this , 1990?! im not disagreeing that a bigger round with more ass wouldn’t be ‘better’. But the reality is they we are wedded to 5.56 for many reasons, most of which are not performance related. And people get carried away with ballistics and caliber wars. You need SAPI plates to stop a 5.56 and they are expensive and I’m not sure all of Ivan’s guys get them. we are lucky because our trained soldiers can hit at 300 or 500 yards but ivan can’t hit **** with his 5.45 at that range. US small arms are way better.
  19. Do the sums? Yes chuck I have. I have a Dillon 650 and I load enough .223 and 9mm for me and my 2 boys to shoot 3gun. What would you like to know ? My 75 gr BTHP would kill Bigfoot. I don’t play on the two way range but I agree Spec ops guys will always want always want something new. But trust me when I say that we will be shooting 5.56 for many years to come. you don’t want to get shot with a .223 at 300 yards. Next order of business is to bleed to death. the big question is green tip penetrator or something different. Us is kitted out for an enemy with body armor. The issue with the poodle shooter was always the green tip m855 AP, which will zip right thru AR500 steel at close range and will also zip right thru afghans at 300 yards. Like getting stabbed with knitting needle. Now if they let us use Varmit rounds, nobody would be complaining about lethality. But I believe it’s got to be ball ammo under the Geneva convention. So xm193 it is. again. The operators will always be getting something new and better.
  20. How does one get in on the PE edition ? im dying to give it a look
  21. People have been calling for the replacement of 5.56 since Jeff Cooper began slamming them as poodle shooters back in the day. however, you now see AR pattern 5.56 guns considered to be sport utility guns. It is probably the most popular rifle caliber out there these days. I have been out of the game for a wee bit, but I shot 3 gun competitively for many years. Shooting 5.56 is not even interesting until you get out past 300 yards. The guns are basically lasers for those with basic training. AK’s ? Good luck hitting anything at 300 with your average AK. so, considering ammo compatibility within NATO and the adaptability of the AR platform, 5.56 will be like the B52. It will be here long after we are gone !
