It appears to have been a computer auto surrender. He knew he was toast in the battle and told me "I had 1 guy left so i tested the 'oh sh*t, I'm f*cked - get me out of here' option." and ran the 1 guy right at my troops.

I've never had an auto-surrender forced on me in a normal PBEM even when all my troops have been killed. They went to the time limit and ended in a ceasefire.

And yes, both of those scenarios were about causing as much damage to the enemy as possible - friendly casualties weren't important.

Hmm not sure how appropriate that is. It's hypothetically possible for somebody to lose all their troops and still deny victory because none of the occupy objectives were taken by the end of the match, or because the opponents casualties were too heavy (think NATO's casualty-aversion in SF2) depending on scoring.

Perhaps a ceasefire would be better?

MSE (Windows Defender on Win 10) was a pretty basic program with limited ability.

Twenty years ago you would have been right, but for over a decade now it has been the case that third party security is generally worse than the Microsoft stuff because they are unaware of the zero days which Microsoft is working on closing.

Attack surface area means that by using third party security software you are increasing the potential ways your system can be attacked. They tend to interfere with the operation of the OS and that can cause issues in itself.

"Viruses" aren't really a thing any more, it's all about zero day exploits.

This was horrible. I wonder what happened. Could the P-63 pilot blacked out maybe?

Speculation I've seen is that both planes were in each others' blind spots.

There are questions about the planning of the air show, and the appropriateness of the flight paths with relation to the spectators as well as the location of the air show.

    Probably not.

Windows 10 has been the worst OS I have ever used. I have WD gold enterprise drives. They ran beautifully under 7. Now on Windows 10 the whole OS is a slogging mess.

My pc is clean, I check on an inconsistent basis with programs from Bleepingcomputer.com.

You don't need antivirus if you aren't a dope with your pc.

I will try your fix, but "real time protection" rapes my hdd even at idle sometimes.

Current IT security best practice for home users is to not use third party antivirus as they tend to increase the attack surface area. You're better off just keeping windows up to date.

Just FYI this file has the bug baked into the first turn replay. So, when the fix comes, the replay will be the same with the HTs still seeing through smoke. Once you advance to the next turn the fully spotted enemy units disappear and turn into ? icons. Your HTs cannot forget what they saw but no more seeing though the smoke :-).

Glad to hear it's been confirmed.

  7. The target tool isn't a LOS tool, and it's drawn from an arbitrary height as opposed to where the gun or commander is. The reason you can't target the ground is because from that arbitrary height (which I think is equivalent to the head height of a standing soldier but am open to correction on that) the patch of ground you are targeting isn't visible.

A tank is usually taller than that, so could probably see another tank.

What about “Power”? Does CM put acceleration rate into the game?

I think it does affect acceleration. Top speeds are generally the same for different vehicle classes.

And “Off Road”, does that impact the speed off-road, or it decides the chance of bogged down?

Yes, affects bogging +along with experience). Idk if it affects off-road speeds.

I just ran another test. 3 companies of german armored cars with different settings.

    1 Company Conscript, extreme, +2

    1 company conscript normal +0

    1 company conscript poor -2

Result before getting to the end of the track:

    +2 company, 2 psw222 bogged, both immobilized

    +0 company, 2 psw223 bogged, one immobilized

    -2 company, 1 psw 223 bogged

    2nd pass without exiting scenario:

    +2 0 boggers

    +0 2 boggers 1 immobilized

    -2 1 bogger

Why is this unreasonable? What makes this a bug? Their off-road capability is rather poor after all.

Just checked Steam vs the BF website with a few conversions between Australian dollars and US Dollars, currently the BF store is far cheaper for the CMSF2 big bundle, $81 USD vs $145 USD on Steam.

Rule of thumb for any consumer, shop around.

May be worth checking again - steam has a 30% discount for SF2 now, at least for me.

  11. Steam does regional pricing, making the games more affordable in non-USD currencies, and does regular sales. This makes CM far more accessible and creates sales which may not otherwise have occurred.

Another great benefit is that users do not have to check a forum to see if there are any patches as they are downloaded automatically, and steam will notify you if any DLC becomes available.

Both targets were stationary, but the BMP did have some tree cover.  Basically, the missiles failed to perform their top attacks and just sailed on by every time.

What version of the game are you playing? Javelin did have a bug where the missiles would not perform the top-attack portion and would just sail into the distance if fired in a certain direction.

They're not targeting anything, the red line is to their commander.

Target arc overrides and disables the face command.

If you want to use a short target arc as a way to stop them from opening fire while facing them in the right direction, use an actual arc where the centre of the arc is in line with the direction you want them to look, rather than a circular target arc.

To me that's a little enigmatic for BFC to address 😉

Do you mean the entrance of a round through an opening is not modelled correctly?  Or that you can't hit an opening?  I know that when I hit 'Open' the hatches do actually open, so it's not that.

Frontal hits to the front center of the T-90 will penetrate with the message "hit opening". There is no armour there, so even 5.56 will penetrate.
