If its mission 4 for you, then youll have it easier, as the battle will begin in the early afternoon and the weather will be "overcast"

Yes, starts 1345 and visiblity is good.  I'm almost in position to attack after brushing aside a few outposts, so things will liven up very soon.

Earlier I chose to attack Stavelot immediately and then move West immediately (this may not have been a choice if I remember correctly - it was a while ago - as I didn't fully clear the main Square, so wasn't offered the fuel depot option).

  2. Okay, Sapper Rearguard finished, minor spoilers in image below.  Really enjoyed it.

Tough situation as I mentioned, but I had some serious bad-asses in a 47mm AT crew who just survived and then just got into position in time.  They then kicked some!  Nearly all of the retreating units made it.

Apologies to whoever designed Patton's Assault Nemesis

Seems to be @snake_eye if I've tagged the right person.  A minor detail - although the loading screen for the scenario does indeed show Patton's Assault Nemesis, it appears in my scenario listing as Patton's Attack Nemesis.  No worries.

I don't wish to blow @George MC's trumpet again, but I might as well - his scenarios are amongst the best.  The Wittmann ones are great.

Hi Guys ... The scenario is called "Happy New Year Major Bake" and was indeed made for the Winter Mod at the end of 2015. It deals with a tactical fight to stop the Soviets from capturing an important airfield in a coup de main thereby cutting off Stalingrad from any possible supply.

Hi @kevinkin, thanks for your fine work.  I have the Major Bake scenario, and the one I posted shots from above, which was 'A lot too late' with 5 Tigers attacking in the snow.  I think I have another one as well, but I can't quite remember the name just now (and no I'm not 65 yet in case anyone is wondering about my memory 😉).

This is a mod pack? Not the winter graphics that came with F'u'R?

Yes, it's the CMRT Winter Mod, or possibly Winter '44 Mod.  I'm not sure how it interacts with any recent F&R snowy effects etc. but it seems to work.

I think there was an original Winter Mod which was developed and added to over a few years.

@kohlenklau was one of those involved I think, so perhaps he can fill us in on the fine details.

  6. Just played through as Axis (of course).  I have to say that's quite brutal, whichever side you might have been on.

Result was as expected, 88s were phenomenal, and I had quite a wall of MG fire going out to the infantry.  I enjoyed the Italian 45mm mortars, but they only hit 3 people - seemed like a small grenade exploding in the sand (oh wait, that's what it was 😉).  First call the Italian artillery took forever to fire and totally missed.  Second call, I lost the FO to British artillery, so you can guess what happened.  On the other side the British artillery was nasty, I assume 25 pounders?  Even knocked out one of my Achtrads...

Anyway thanks, great fun and thought-provoking.

    Vickers D3E1

    Agreed, but

    1. it's not a tank (as in the OP's original question)

    2. it's well before the WW2 time period (as in the OP's original question)

    3. it was an experiment (which did not meet with success) not a production vehicle (not in the OP's original question)

    4. It has a nice 'front step' on which to sit and savour one's tea.

    5. I'm not the tank appearance police, so whatever 😁.

  8. I have a zip file with the campaign and its included mods (which are in a sub-folder named panzermike1, which of course goes into the Z folder or the Mods folder, whichever you care to use).

If you PM me with an email address I can send it, same goes for @Aquila-SmartWargames.  Can't remember where I got it sadly...

EDIT: The date on the .cam file matches the post with the latest (now defunct) link in the thread above, so it should be the updated version.

Come now, you must look past the indifference to modern dentistry and the compulsion to boil all flavour and nutrients out of food

I'm not sure tanks need dentistry (modern or otherwise) or flavoursome and nutritional food 😉.  Or were you extending the scope of the thread?

If so, I think the comments probably apply more to the WW2 period than they do to today, so they could be considered appropriate.
