maybe just a better judge of the tactical situation?
Or more likely I had some idea of what I was up against (e.g. from Panzers in Normandy - Then and Now). It is a great battle though George, as is your Villers Bocage battle . Don't get me started on the RT battles .

This is still by far one of the best historical battles I've played. The map is outstanding.
Even after a gap of 10 years, @George MC's work on this one deserves further praise. I did it without losing Wittmann but felt very lucky.

You may not see them, but this Flammpanzer III has tank riders on it
It has come up before and I reported it. The riders somehow end up inside the tank not on it. AFAIK it's due for a fix but obviously not just on its own, it would be part of a future patch / release if and when that might happen.

Perhaps I should try the mission sometime .

The player can either strip all the spare ammo out during the "Set-up phase"
It seems not in this case, as it was outside the set-up zone. But generally this is a great thing to do (or at least it feels great ). And having 'too much' ammo is not a problem for our super-truppen.

Would satchels take out IED's when thrown at suspected locations?
I think I saw a video of this happening but I might be wrong. You presumably wouldn't want to be too close .

Re the challenge: Most certainly, if you wish!
Indeed, I was about to ask you since a long time now, but hardly managed to serve ongoing commitments in the last years.
Any preferences? Dropbox or PBEM++? Otherwise, CW seems appropriate. Sounds like we both are kind of newbies in that one.
I have been there in RL, but looking at my placement, my active service time would have lasted for an hour or so.
More of an invitation than a challenge . I'm just back after some RL things and I have a few 'testing commitments' and a few PBEMs (sorry to those involved) so I should probably try to clear a few of those first.
Otherwise I can do Dropbox (have done a lot) or PBEM++ (doing my first). And CW is still a bit of a mystery but I'm being taught by a master. The lesson is a harsh one...
I also have another CW 'challenge' to honour but we could set up a game if you have one in mind?

But since I retired at the end of April
Congratulations on that Andreas. Wish I could say the same, but not yet...
Perhaps you and I could share a game in the future?

CMRT was released later, hence it being the first title to include them.
@rvseydlitz you'll find that the Western Allies can tank ride in CMFB. In 'Real Life' I'm sure it happened in CMBN 'areas/dates' but maybe not so much.

If that was anywhere else but Russia I would actually have liked to be there . SU-100, IS2, ISU-152, KV1 etc. all running nicely.
Okay I've stopped dribbling now.

Yeah, I see it JM but I think you're right it's just a bad transcription - that's a good way of saying it .

is there something different or not compatible with the bp1 from BFC and bp1 from Steam ?
I'm not sure why it says 'from Steam'. It does not have to be from Steam, unless your CMBN base game is on Steam as @OldSarge just said. To be honest I'm struggling to think why you need BP1 to play BP2 anyway...
I checked Steam and it says 'This content requires the base game Combat Mission Battle for Normandy on Steam in order to play.' No mention of BP1 there.

Matrix / Slitherine are the publishers, BFC the developers?
It's announced on Steam as well.

Generally I wouldn't send a jeep to recon
What about dismounting the driver and sending him up? I suppose either way you'll probably lose the use of the jeep, but maybe the driver won't be spotted as easily.

It certainly does. And it will be worth the wait I can assure you.

And why not, nothing wrong with that. I don't know the answer to the white noise question but others probably will.

For RT, the gridded terrain is nice, because it's not always obvious in the flat expanses of Russia where the folds in the ground are.
Dave I just noticed this. Were you using that against me recently ?

wondering if anyone has tried modding gun sounds from Squad and implementing them into Cold War or Black Sea
People have modded sounds in various CM titles using donor files from other software.
Not sure about CW/BS and Squad, but I would imagine it's doable if not.

I have that one and the Bulge 'version'. Great material.
I do not have a card from Winston G. Ramsey. I bought it from Foyle's and they offered no protection of my privies.
Yours disgruntedly...
