  1. I completely agree with you. If it ever was done, say in Upgrade 5 or whatever, it would indeed be a huge undertaking. Of course, they could probably use the coding from Black Sea as a baseline for a future Upgrade to add amphibious vehicles or even assault boats. If they were to do it for only a new title though, I can just hear the gamers moan and groan "Why can't they be included in the other games too?" I know this from being a beta-tester for another company. There is just so much a programmer can code into an existing game if he, or she, is limited by the constraints of that gaming engine. They can't fulfill everyone's wish list.
  2. You must be as old as me. "bottle cork was a tank, book was a hill". I remember drawing all the tanks and infantry on heavy card-stock and then gluing them standing up on a base to represent the miniatures I needed. Hey, it worked and it is still used even today.
  3. Sounds doable and very interesting but I can see how slow a game might go and also what would happen if a team member were to drop out. As soon as I get back up to speed with the games I plan to purchase (toss up between Red Thunder and Last Blitzkrieg) I might be interested in giving a TvT a go. Of course, I have to get the new computer rig which I will be ordering this Friday. Finally a rig that can handle the CB games. Been a very long time. Oh, and I am upgrading my CMSF to 4 as well.
  4. That looks very inviting. I have played TvT in some other non-Battlefront games and they are great. Not sure how it would work with the CM games though. I have to agree with Artkin, it would definitely give the CM titles some more versatility.
  5. WOW, I remember playing Twilight 2000 from GDW years ago. GDW's Command Decision and Combined Arms were my go to for miniature games. Great system
  6. Avalanche Press seems to be doing rather well. I had their entire Panzer Grenadier collection up to their France: '40 game. But some of their titles are EXPENSIVE. Their Road to Dunkirk game is $99.99, I don't think so. You could buy a couple CM games for the same price, well almost. Wound up giving all of it to my grandson who is history buff.
  7. Yes, Decent on Crete was one of the SPI monster games, company level. Same thing happened to me with Atlantic Wall. We set it up and then my late first-wife's cat decided that laying on my 4' x 8' gaming table where the game was set-up was the perfect place to take a nap. Care to guess what happened to the cat? If I had been you, I would have showed restraint as far as the child was concerned but as for the mother, I would have not been so understanding. Not that I would have harmed her but I sure would have told her to parent her child better. I also lent a student at the University of North Carolina @ Asheville the maps for Highway to Reich so she could include it in her thesis paper about the battle of Arnhem. Yes, she returned the map and made an excellent grade as well. Those were the days, weren't they? In some ways, I miss them while in other ways, I do not. Like trying to consume all of the rules for ASL. Chris
  8. The VPK-7829 Bumerang and variants, the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV, and 9A52-4 Tornado MRL. For the United States/NATO, the M270 MLRS. What about including the Kurds (Peshmerga) and Turks for SF2? Of course the Kurds would have some pretty dated equipment but the Peshmerga are renowned for their ferocity on the battlefield. As for other NATO nations. I agree that Germany, Canada, UK, and Poland should be part of a SF2 or BS2 module or both. Not sure about France and Italy but those countries might be worthwhile at some point in the future.
  9. Several more Russian vehicles that might be worth considering. Kurganets-25
  10. I have seen several YouTube videos of this machine and it is quite an impressive one. Wonder how it would fare against a Bradley?
  11. Very much in agreement about these units.
  12. Wouldn't that make for an interesting game title, the Chinese vs. the Canadians, eh?
  13. Or the frightening TOS-1 or TOS-1A (Burantino)!!!!
  14. As for additional Russian units, I'd like to see the BMPT (Terminator).
  15. I placed an order with Battlefront a couple of days ago. Just checked my bank and all is okay. Thanks for the heads-up.
  16. I got all my activation codes for the original CMSF1 game plus the Marines and NATO modules, so that will save me some money I can use for another game in the series. That will just leave me to purchase the Brit module. I am going to be a happy gamer, or at least I hope so, in the next month or so. Thanks again to all of you.
  17. Still debating if I want to get RT or FB. Plus, I have to get everything set-up on the new computer (Facebook, Drop Box, and so on) before I can start playing. When I do, I'll drop you a line.
  18. I can't say because of my NDA contract with Matrix/Slitherline even though I'm not on the team anymore. I don't want to get sued.
  19. Hello all, About seven years ago the computer I was using to play CMSF1 had a severe crash and I lost everything associated with the game. I had several login names as I was purchasing these great games but over time I had forgotten them. I sent in a ticket to the Support Team and John really helped me. So, I just wanted to say thank you to him and the outstanding service he provided me. I just wish more of the gaming companies took care of their customers in the same way Battlefront does theirs. Chris.
  20. Same here. When I was playing D&D in the late 70s and early 80s, I was very much into the third party expansions, i.e. City State of the Invisible Overlord (actually made a 3D map of the city for use with 25mm miniatures). My gaming friends and I even came up with our own X-rated expansion but we never published it, but it did gave a whole new meaning to the game. I also played Empire of the Petal Throne which was very cool for it's time. As for the Campaign Series, we beta-testers tried to talk them into converting the games into a non-hex system (especially me since I was one of the map designers) but it was hard-coded into the game so it couldn't be done. They have made significant improvements but so much more could be done with the games but that is another discussion altogether and not appropriate to discuss here. It might be best to continue this discussion via private messages. I don't want to clutter up these forums with topics not related to the Battlefront Games.
  21. Yeah, I have some friends that own a leather company and they are big into Dagahar, or however you spell it. I'm like you, not my cup of mead. My oldest wargaming friend and I have discussed how wargaming has evolved over the 45 years he and I have been playing. Speaking of the Battle of Aachen, I was playing a humongous Campaign Series: West Front scenario until this clunker of a computer decided to literally kill the game. I had all the SPI monster games (Atlantic Wall, Highway to the Reich, Wacht Am Rhien, Decent on Crete). We set up Atlantic Wall, which took us all day to do, and never played it. I was big into D&D and some of the early FRP computer games but I've lost interest in them. Give me a PzKfw VG over a wizard any day of the week.
  22. Wouldn't be the first time I've been called on topic in other forums. I must learn restraint.
  23. I just submitted a ticket. Hopefully I will get an answer next week. I do thank all of you for your advice. It is much appreciated.
