  1. Just by adding the shop signs really brings the buildings to life, and taking on the appearance of a 1940's French street, albeit most shops abandoned or boarded for the duration... ...does anyone else think, mate this is too nice to fight over and destroy. I would love to live here... I've added flavours so next job is to create a few battle damaged buildings in St. Mére Église, which there were...
  2. Now building St. Mére Église, made some new shops as there seemed alot of shops in 1944. To make the Hospital I combined the Benouville Mairie and the Corner House. Sweewms to work fine saving me time in a new build project.
  3. Any from 44, as i can't find nothing, the house was extended on this side at some stage... but when?
  4. Mate, there are so many levels to that day it is great to just read about it and know what the places looked like and to be able to follow the paras progress on our maps. Cheers
  5. Ok Corner House finished, now with Terra Cotta Roof Tiles, like the original. Ok now finished the Le Port Church, I managed to actually use the Roof and the front entrance from some photos I found. It looks like the church was built in stages as all three main elements look different... As the Bell Tower has no spiral, I made it from mod building, as always not exact but a good compromise??? The Tower was an obvious place for snipers and one account I read, was that it was almost impossible for the paras to get up into the tower as there was only one entrance and the snipers were still active when Lord Lovat's Commandoes arrived, in fact six of them were shot by the snipers as they crossed the bridge.
  6. Ahh changed the layout and now works so much better I think?
  7. They are the ones I based it on. No trams or tramlines in 1944. Just finished the Corner House opposite the Mairie... based on this photo, shame it was demolished a few years back and will soon be flats that look really out of place??? Again compromise but I think ok. I built that one from scratch....
  8. Cheers I found some great old photos of it. Not perfect again but a nice compromise, this old game engine has limits....lol
  9. More from Benouville, updated with some of WIMs buildings... The Corner House, opposite the Mairie which has been knocked down for some horrible flats... The Tram Station The road that leads to the bridge... you can see the Mairie middle left.
  10. It soon will be on FGM from WIM. He has posted it but still not showing.
  11. More from the Benouville Map... The first 2 Horsas to land in Normandy... The glider pilots land so close to the bridge... Troops arrive from 7th Para Battalion and start to move over the bridge... The Piat is quite effective at close range... ...and even against the PzKw IV.
  12. I've knicked one of my Berlin Buildings for the Benouville Chateau as its almost imposible to replicate it and still have functioning building ie all windows can be fired from.
  13. Still lots to do, people on here demand almost perfection, I got negative comments on my Battle for Berlin Mod because a Medal on a German Uniform was in the wrong place...lol I didn't even mod that, but you won't believe the negativity a modder can get???
  14. A pretty good rendition of Benouville Chateau entrance, but I need some cool metal gates, I made these but they aren't great... any offers? The 1909 Building just beyond the bridge... I noticed many Normandy walls have doors so i made some from some old Poster mdr's that i downloaded somewhere... Rue de grand clos, Benouville...
  15. I've been busy making new builds for my deadstick map... The Famous Cafe near the Benouville Bridge, I couldn't make an exact copy but I thought this compromise was ok? The Marie in Benouville, it stands today just as it was in 1944. The streets in Benouville can be really narrow so iv'e deleted the road to allow me to get the buildings in closer. Cheers thanks for looking, feel free to comment or ask any questions.
  16. Operation Deadstick... I've updated my Scenario I made years ago, now with the Horsa glider and updated Canal bridge, Major Howard Lands Meters away from the Benouville bridge, he leaves the Horsa glider, to begin the operation, his orders are simple, take the bridge and hold until relieved... Within minutes they are engaging with the Anti Tank Gun and German Bridge security units... After dealing with the At Tank and Bunker, Howard and his men storm over the bridge, objective to engage the German troops in trenches on the other side... A German squad, storms out of the barracks and get to the trenches on the opposite side of the river... More of Major Howards teams join the assault on the bridge... The Wehrmacht troops defend well initially but are only conscripts and very nervous and don't take much for them to make a run for it... The Paras soon reach The Café Gondrée, which becomes the first building to be liberated on D-Day, the café owners were in the cellar and are the first French civilians to be liberated, Major Howards learns that the Ranville Bridge had also been successfully assaulted... But Lieutenant Brotheridge, commander of No.25 Platoon, "D" Company, 2nd Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, was the first allied casualty of D-Day... The paras start to create a defence perimeter around the bridge, waiting for the German response... and clearing any enemy troops from the surrounding houses... Some surrender... ...some try to resist... but resistance at this stage is futile... The bridge is secure... for now... Reinforcements start to trickle in from units of the 6th Airborne division... Later in the morning three German Panzer IV's make the decision to attack the bridge (historically the first Pzr IV was destroyed, at the junction by a very brave para with a Piat close range, this made the other two panzers retreat), in my scenario one of the tanks make it close to the bridge... ...but I managed to despatch this threat when it entered a courtyard near the bridge, all crew mown down by the elite paras... Now Major Howard remembers his orders, 'hold until relieved', things quit down and the paras do their best to prepare for the counter attacks that were sure to come soon. Note: Special thanks to Lucky strike for his Hedgerow Hell Mod. To Phil for sending me his amazing model of the Horsa Glider. To JM Stuff for destroyed Vehicle Mod. And anyone one else who's Mod i've used. Cheers
