  1. Haha yeah those countries with their silly non uniform languages and cultural diversity. Ah.
  2. 30th March 10:07 AM I know this for certain, as I saw it in the entrails of my now deceased puppy.
  3. Ah, sorry for wasting time then I should have guessed it had been brought up before. Maybe with the increasing media attention CM is getting it will shoot up the priority list.
  4. First of all I'm very sorry if this is the wrong place to put this. As Red Thunder is the first of the new generation of games I thought this would be most appropriate home even though this request should be considered for older CM titles as well. It seems to me that Combat Mission is getting some more attention over on youtube, twitch and other video sites. Obviously this is a great thing and video AARs can be awesome, however right now you have very limited choices for presenting a video of a battle. You can either run the whole thing in real time issuing orders on the go, use the turn based system and show orders as well as the battle videos, or lastly (and in my opinion by far the best looking) purely show the turn result videos. This means you have to play through the entire battle, recording only the replays. This process takes a very, very long time and coupled with editing can be rather painful. On top of that the constant breaks in combat serve to ruin the viewers immersion in the conflict. The question is this then: Would it be possible in Combat Mission to get a prompt at the end of a scenario asking if the full scenario replay should be saved or not. This would just be a combination of all of the battle turns laid out seamlessly one after another, with the simple ability of being able to pause, rewind etc like you can in game. This means video creators like myself have the ability to fight a battle with our minds completely in the game, then save a replay of that battle to then use in a video which we can film and add things to to our hearts content much more easily than we can presently. It also means the videos will be a little more interesting and flow nicer as a battle plays out with no constant breaks. I actually think this feature may be rather popular with non-video creators as well, some folk (correct me if I'm wrong) may really enjoy being able to seamlessly watch their recent amazing victory/defeat that had been played out over three months in a glorious and bloody hour or less. I realise that this may be something that needs to be added in to an early design paper for a new game instead of something that can just be tacked on to an existing title, but I would ask you to consider this for future releases if that is the case. Thanks for your time. Peter
  5. Grrrrrr Potentially a touchy topic, I have seen a couple of friends fall out over it hehe.
  6. I shall see what we can do. We are running a deal at the moment, for every wife shipped over we send a six-pack of Irn Bru.
  7. Hmm, we don't really have them. Would a "homely" lass suit? I jest of course, though do you mind if I find myself one first? I warn you there is little hope in that with RT around the corner..
  8. I have absolutely no idea whether they are close family or not, though I do remember a couple of successful authors being mentioned. Then again the ridiculous amount of famous or impressive folk within those families is incredible. If you care to find out yourself the chap I'm talking about is called Hector, of the Macleans of Dochgarroch. Lovely family, they know pretty much everyone in Scotland or so it seems.
  9. Haha yeah. cough Imagine if that were the case.. Heheh. I would be pretty stupid to do that! gulp
  10. I think that is the right direction, to be fair both Butterscotch and Scotch Broth are names we use as well. That is cool though! Its a pretty weird concept to think about multiple and very different nations united in one country.
  11. Hey kids, have you tried vodka? One shot each then lets play sleeping lions.
  12. What on earth are you doing man! Traitor! Traitor! Purge him with fire! Its not unfortunately. The title if I can remember correctly is something along the lines of "Is there a gaming identity? Explorations within an online community of social gamers" I should probably think about finishing it.
  13. We are experiencing a rather lovely trend for warm summers. It is always pleasant to see travellers gawking at my friends and I, proudly strolling through Edinburgh city centre in shirts surrounded by more sensible but less dashing folk in winter jackets and waterproofs. Yeah, as long as you supply us with alcohol we will be merry and welcoming to the end of the earth! Oh dear. Here our friendship must meet its unfortunate end. I hail from the most beautiful, cultured and bright city of Edinburgh and thus by pure chance of location are now thine sworn enemy, you filthy Glaswegian peasant! At least I think that is how it goes.
  14. I have a dissertation due on the 11th of April. The further back battlefront pushes the release date the more likely I will fail. For the good of humanity (since everything has to be about me, duh) you should release post haste. Yes tomorrow will do perfectly, I shall see you at seven. Bring the cheese!
  15. @BLSTK I'm so sorry! I do try my best to not fall into that trap, my best friend (a ridiculously Scottish lad, heir to one of the Maclean families and my source of all whiskey knowledge) is currently dating a lovely lass from your fair lands. I did not know how large a proportion of your population was from my cold corner of the globe either. I have to confess I'm rather jealous having never been on a tour such as that. I'm not sure which I would prefer however, a Euro-hopping trail for Beer and Ale, or an Isle-hopping search for the "golden nectar"! Yes, for me a large part of putting up with "all the crap" is having to realise how much of "the crap" is caused by me.. Oh for a Woman more patient than I.
  16. Over here in Scotland we just call it whiskey! I find it so strange when Americans refer to something Scottish as "Scotch", other than a "Scotch Egg" I cannot think of a single time we use the word. If something is Scottish... It is Scottish (over here). Also we have an incredible amount of variation in our whiskeys, between us and Ireland pretty much every conceivable type of delicious golden liver killer is available. I would recommend trying Talisker, Glenfiddich, Ardbeg or by far my most favourite, the Isle of Jura. That particular gem is made by the brewers from the Highland Park in their spare time and has a full peaty flavour with a fantastic smokey after-taste. Combine that with a Cuban "Punch" cigar and some smoked applewood cheddar cheese and you sir have one hell of an evening. On the topic of the superior gender, having just come from the end of a six year relationship I would very much recommend living with all the crap as long as in the end you still make each other smile. "You can't live with them, you could never live without em." cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese
  17. Taking any sort of placebo effect from a medical scenario and putting it directly into the psychology of trading specifically in gaming is wrong. Most consumers of medication do not have the knowledge to understand why their medicines are working, therefore it is a system based on belief. There have been large numbers of placebo based testing which have for the most part seen a definite trend in positive reactions to medication regardless if chemically speaking it has any effect. Games are very different. Consumers are able to judge their enjoyment very easily, so therefore decisions as to the "quality" of the game they have just played are actually much closer to the true nature of the game than one might think. This system is therefore based on personal experience and knowledge rather than a belief in "the system". I know I have purchased a $40 game and been very dissapointed, whereas I have enjoyed several >5$ games. I do not go into a purchase expecting a game to be better purely because it costs more, and I highly doubt you do too. You may be confusing this with estimated game content, which is different.
  18. Its been really interesting to read a lot of this feedback. While for the most part I was always personally grateful and willing to pay the price (as is obvious since I already own CM:FI+GL), but I still think there is room to change. There are things that can be done marketing/PR-wise which most smaller games companies and Indie projects completely ignore. I hope to see a really well crafted youtube video for the next module which functions as a sort of informative trailer, explaining what CM is and how awesome it is. The cost of production is low, yet the potential yield is very great. If we on the forums all helped spread such a video round it would not be long before it was noticed. Anyway I got off track. When I said a slow incremental lowering of prices I meant just that. I did not mean a sudden decrease to a 20$ title which we all know would not fund battlefront and just would not work. I was suggesting a 10-15$ decrease from the 90$ cap limit, with less of a decrease for lower costing titles. That is over the space of two-three years. Anyway I fully support Battlefront and I cannot wait to see more modules which I will be saving up for.
  19. I try! However I'am willing to bet that a very large proportion of the gaming market has a very similar state of mind to my forementioned cheap buddies. The fact is folk do not want to pay premium prices to access enjoyable media, look at the sudden rise in popularity of the (prepare to rinse out mouth) free to play (blurgheurgh) market. I still feel it may be a smart move to slightly lower the prices combined with a real advertising campaign to increase sales. As you quoted me asking for "thoughts" rather than "feelings" I have to admit I don't see where you are gonig with that. Thoughts can and hopefully in the case of this thread do include factual knowledge, as well as opinions on the current pricing model.
