  1. I think it is "quite natural" to give someone with a 15 year positive track record a little credit. Then judge things based on what is actually delivered instead of what's been mentioned in marketing materials, complete or incomplete.

But I guess ignoring past history, focusing on only what information you have this week, and doing battle with people telling you that you're impatient is also "natural" for some.

    Steve

    This convinced me.

I just have a request, give more than the usual movies, photos from the module, I like to watch (like most of us) the progress of your work - and the more you release information / videos / photos is easier to convince us to spend money;)

  2. And yet you continue to post instead of waiting?

Correct. And because there is $35 worth of content you should NOT expect to pay $10-$15. If you do not think it is worth $35... fine... don't buy it.

If the Module were for sale today you would be correct. But we haven't even announced a shipping date, so why is it *SO VERY IMPORTANT* to know what is in it *RIGHT NOW*? How about you let us confirm what is in the Module when we are ready?

I think we understood that a long time ago.

A hint. If you do not want to criticize something that does not yet exist, maybe you shouldn't criticize something that does not yet exist?

You do see the problem with being so vocally negative/pessimistic and then at the same time say that you don't have enough information to make a judgement? I sure do :D

    Steve

but I can now write about their hopes and fears about the product, on the basis of fragmentary information that you give us? I think it quite natural? I of course I could be wrong (I hope) because I'm curious of your opinion.

  3. 1

low content (in previews) module compared to the GL or CF - I really hope I'm wrong.

    2

35$ to have a different value, for me it's quite an expense (I never complained about the price of modules), but necessarily more is expected from the product (the same content as in the GL module)if the product cost 10-15 bucks I would have enjoyed as you with the contents of the module, because the less you pay the less we expect

    3

poor information policy. Some text about the contents of the module, no pictures, and let's face it, a bad movie

    - For the moment, I am not convinced by the module.

I do not want to criticize something that does not yet exist, so hold on until the module is released;)

  4. By the way, I think it should be better advertised. The other games released into the mass of videos with future content, almost daily published a new picture. Just look at the number of views on this film with a "bridge", a lot of people who want to see the contents of the upcoming module - text on the forum and one or more videos and several images is not enough (and for new consumers who had never played in the CM, the absolutely not enough)

  5. Putting pressure on us just makes us not want to produce games any more. You have no idea how risky, life sucking, and un-rewarding it is to make wargames. If anybody wonders why we have no competition, it's because nobody is dumb enough to try.

well, I hope that I am wrong, and the series is going in the right direction, although I do not agree that it was just a few malcontents, because we all want the same thing, except that we are more impatient and less forgiving;)

ps. I hope though that you are doing the best game in the segment gives you a little joy;)

  6. Im not sure how it works if you introduce a numbered version to a non numbered one tho.

If you just add the gun bren 0-8 files, the game might still use the gun bren file that is in the original.

Best to use one to override the original sound too (if you are thinking of adding more variations to a sound without variations i mean)

you can trust me, when you add the gun bren add 0-8 files, the game does not use the original sound - I spent with my mods for more than a month after 6-8 hours a day and I've never heard the original sound after adding a few sounds for one weapon, explosion, penetration etc.

  7. Trust me, Battlefront is NOT trying to sell us a game at profit with "the least effort" in the way you seem to think.

Of course they will try to streamline their production, but as they do they always put more into the games.

I have never felt cheated by Battlefront in any way, and thats saying alot since almost every game out there have left me feeling cheated in one way or another.

I used the wrong word, it should be "the least financial cost" and also like you never felt cheated by BF.

  8. after all, I think we should put pressure on the battlefront, in the end, we stand on the other side of barricade, we as consumers want to get the best product at the lowest price, and the battlefront to sell the game at a profit with the least effort(edit.the least financial cost), and possibly (I'm pretty sure) as best quality.

I understand the problems related to the cost, lack of time, a small team, but just understand not justify the quality of the product

little pressure shall not hurt them, and they can stimulate a better job with the benefit of us all.

  9. the shock force some vehicles have their driving noises (m1, lav, leo2 etc)

pity that there is no such CMBN sounds for popular vehicles such as Sherman, PZ4, panther, etc.. :(

should add that option, and I'd do the sounds of these vehicles (such as mods to sound the shock force)

  10. Comparing two whole products, which share only superficial things in common, is not very useful. Because in the end a person doesn't decide to buy CM because of any one feature, but the combination of all of them. A combination that no other game has. At least as far as I know. The only two games I can think to compare against aren't really all that similar. One didn't even compare that well to CMBO, the other has some good points but most CM players don't think too much of it. It's also more restrictive from a gameplay standpoint and costs about the same (last time I checked).

On the other hand, it's *VERY* easy to compare different FPS or RTS games against each other because the are almost completely identical to each other. Gameplay is nearly identical, features are nearly identical, graphics are nearly identical, etc. Even the ones that cost $50,000,000 to make don't seem that different to me than the ones which cost $25,000,000 to make.

I'm always eager to hear about other relevant games to compare against. Though it doesn't really matter. We're not getting rich from making CM so if people tell us to make the games cheaper they will get less game. So far, even after 15 years, our customers have told us the exact opposite.

    Steve

I understand, but every game we buy because of the combination of different characteristics - but perhaps more accurately compared to the CM series of strategy games than for games such as "First-person shooter"?

but compared with other games in the segment, you can see how the game is good or poor - that's why we see the uniqueness of the CM series from other startegii. and that is why we buy it;)

  11. I'm not too sure how practical an exercise that would be. CM is to some extent in a class by itself. Other games have tried to emulate one aspect or another, but SFAIK none of them have quite put it all together to go nose to nose with CM.

    Michael

CM is unique - but it is a strategy, it is easy to compare which strategy is more historical, realistic, has better graphics, which gives you more in the size of the map, a physics, mechanics, and which is more expensive or less expensive ;) etc..

  12. I just used it as an example of what it's really like when a developer treats fans like cash cows to be milked. :D

However, I think CM should be compared with other strategies (price, support for mods, DLC, graphics, realism, game mechanics, etc) then we will see any difference - if the game is very expensive? and maybe cheap? and has good graphics? a realistic? etc - COD is a totally different type of game, a different type of customer and different expectations (mostly multiplayer for months / years)

and comparing with other strategies CM series not quite so great - in terms of realism is simply the best, but in terms of price, graphics, optimization, etc. This is still a lot of work;)

  13. COD is a different segment of the game, you should compare the CM series of other strategies that can often provide fun for a few years, they give better graphics (such as total war series), and often cost less, but certainly not as realistic as CM - and what is the biggest advantage of the series.

  14. Just to show you Battlefront does like Poles here is the count of the times a Nation has been in a game.

USA: CMBO, CMAK, CMSF, CMBN, CMFI = 5

Germany: CMBO, CMBB, CMAK, CMSF, CMBN, CMFI = 6

Poland: CMBO, CMBB, CMAK, CMBN, CMFI = 5

Britain: CMBO, CMAK, CMSF, CMBN, CMFI = 5

Canada: CMBO, CMAK, CMSF, CMBN, CMFI = 5

Soviet Union: CMBB, CMAfg = 2

Italy: CMBB, CMAK, CMFI = 3

    France: CMBO, CMAK = 2

New Zealand: CMAK, CMFI = 2

    Australia: CMAK = 1

    Finland: CMBB = 1

    Romania: CMBB = 1

    Hungary: CMBB = 1

    South Africa: CMAK = 1

    Netherlands: CMSF = 1

    Syria: CMSF = 1

    Afghanistan: CMAfg = 1

Sept. 39 (1 million soldiers), Narvik, France, 1940, Battle of Britain, Africa, landing in Normandy(Falaise), the liberation of the Netherlands, Italian campaign - Monte Cassino, Arnhem (in the west fought 200 000 of our soldiers), the Warsaw Uprising 44 (47000 soldiers) campaign in the east-berlin45 (180 000 men) AK (Home Army - 390 000 soldiers)

Poland is the fourth military power on the side of the Allies - it's natural that we are on all fronts in the game

ps. except that we used, British and Soviet uniforms and weapons - just add the language and poles are already in the game;)

  15. This is one of the last places on Earth where I expected to bump into Jimi Tenor.

I guess it is to be expected in this globalized world, Finland does export a lot of good stuff. ;)

Did you know that on the bottom of vodka Finland is the swastika pattern? - otherwise a very good vodka, but compared to the Polish spirits is rather a "tonic";)

Vodka is the cure all cultural differences / Language;)

  16. I think you are a reasonable person Waclaw. You did give BFC eleven days to rush out a patch that tells pixeltruppen who are rendering buddy aid to prioritize the acquisition of SMGs. I think eleven days is more than enough time to respond to your request, fix up a patch, and have that distributed to everyone.

The game was released two years ago, it's probably enough time?

ps. Nobody said it would be a bad module - of course, the game is still changed / improved, but it does not go that way what I would expect - and not just my observations, just read the text below the video

  17. Due to language barriers you are misunderstanding him.

He is not saying that YOU came out of nowhere.

He is saying that when someone makes a post that is whiny or aggressive there is always someone that "pops up from nowhere" to defend the person, despite the first person being obviously overreacting and not listening to reason.

YOU would be the first person in this case. The one overreacting.

Togi is the one "popping up out of nowhere" to defend you despite you overreacting in a very clear and obvious way.

Beelzeboss know him from Polish forum (so I'm for it "new"), and as "togi" simply presents his critical comments to the game, and the rest want to destroy us;)

  18. I've been managing these Forums since before Battlefront existed (back when it was Big Time Software). There's many, many patterns of behavior that are repeated over and over again. My "favorite" is this one:

Person A behaves like a royal arse. Deliberately abusive, disrespectful of others, not the least bit interested in rational discourse, and very often (almost always, in fact) factually incorrect.

Person B challenges Person A on tone and substance.

Person C comes out of nowhere to say "typical. Try to criticize Battlefront or CM and you get slammed for telling the truth or having an opinion".

Then you get the pile on effect of people either defending the original abusive poster as a martyr of truth, and the many more pointing out that the person is getting exactly what he deserves. And all the while we keep working on making Combat Mission and Battlefront better. Because that's what we have always done and will always do.

    Rinse and repeat :D

All of us want CM to be better. Nobody wants it to be stagnant. The list of things which have been changed/improved over the years, many due to direct involvement with customers, is massive. Our track record, therefore, is clearly established fact. Anybody disagreeing with that has discredited himself as being out of touch with reality. Being rude about it, on top, is just more indication that the person's opinions have no relevance or value.

Psychologists could write some pretty thick multi-book works about some of the things that go on here :D

    Steve

but we are not out of nowhere, a regular of 10 years visiting Polish Forum CM, buying your games from the very beginning - even I have spent months working to make a sound mod http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=110567

so our short presence here is not a determinant of our experience / age

  19. everything is correct, BF clearly define what will be in the module, and we have defined our expectations tiny (really tiny) - it is very simple, there are no significant improvements, it will not be our money - it works both ways.

and if someone does not have any expectations, you will be happy with what you get, it's simple.

funny thing is that you do not want to BF improved his game ;)

  20. is a matter of expectations, if you satisfied with the campaign, several scenarios, the new bridge and the mill is okay - let me, however, that I will have higher expectations so as to finally fix the problem with shadows (alt + w = - 50% fps) or just added the infamous flame-throwers, camouflage for gun, or by the end of the tank crew stopped attacking on foot, etc., the real changes / improvements - which you and I am waiting for a few years.
