  1. If you don't have new people coming onto the forums arguing ideas then all you do is stagnant the series because with such a small community the ideas start to incestualize because people who are die hard fans are content with anything the series does as long as it sticks to the canon that they enjoy.
  2. Saying a company survived for 15 years proves nothing to future success if they aren't willing to adapt to the change. I haven't been around BF for all too long so I am not sure how they have changed their marketing or image over the past 15 years (if at all). But you have to follow the change if you want your company to continue its success. Sure BF could survive by being a really small company that makes you pay for patches and makes their games very expensive to adapt to the low demand because of the games obscurity. But that wouldn't really be thriving from what I see the new technology from CMSF to now is very limited compared to say Civilization from Civ IV Beyond the Sword to now.
  3. I don't believe you understand just how large and diverse the steam community is. You have people playing stuff from Europa Universalis 3 to Tabletop Simulator to Eurotruck Simulator. The steam community has changed a great deal from the early days of Half Life, Counter Strike and TF. It's a huge mistake to think that a community for Combat Mission could not be found on Steam. Other than that I'm really confused to the other complaints on this thread other than the business model. "Invasive DRM"? What? It's 2015, by now you should have stable internet for at least the 10 seconds it takes to log into steam. After that it doesn't matter what happens to your internet. It can go out and you just switch to Offline mode. And yes Offline mode does work and your very foolish or not receptive to new technology if you think it doesn't work.
  4. Your first 5 points are right, but that's if you don't expect anything and aren't under a time constraint. In CMSF I found myself many times rushing up with Marders while using smoke rounds from my artillery to cover their approach. If you sit around and scout about your much more likely to have artillery drop on your head or have enemy reinforcements that come from a rather unfortunate angle. This is all probably going to be increased with what you said about the UAV's. Now that you don't have to have direct eyes on your opponent, you are going to have to be a great deal more spontaneous and move a great deal faster. Basically i'm assuming the Defending force is going to be much more aggressive than in other titles. But this all goes up to the mission designer.
  5. Welp, not sure what the point of this post was other than my reminder to why I take Klonopin.
  6. I own it, it's more comparable to a arcady RTS such as Starcraft 2 or Total war than a simulation. If your into competitive RTS games like those and you like the cold war era it's pretty damn good. If you are getting it for the single player i suggest you stay away from it as it's built around the multiplayer.
  7. @Whiterider so i searched through the repository and i could only find 4 of the missions. I have tried searching with and without the "UK" and "USMC" prefixes. Is there any other place to find the other missions that i'm not aware of? -USMC prison break -USMC mud marines -UK The maroon machine -UK argo valley
  8. @Whiterider Thank you very much I will give all of these a shot. I understand what you mean but I didn't say anything because I really enjoy almost every kind of scenario (Besides the extremely large ones) in CMSF. It has just been hard to find a Quality Scenario.
  9. I am having a hard time finding good scenarios. I find that too many scenarios I come across are either Blobs of enemies (literally infantry stacked on top of infantry) vs what ever i have. or well thought out scenarios that are extremely large and take hours to complete. I may just be missing something but can someone point me to a group/a scenario that is 'good'.
  10. This sound mod is great! My only gripe with it is that the background ambient combat can be a bit distracting.
  11. So is there a real efficient fix to this camera response, I find that on certain maps or missions that the game is for the most part unplayable. (Yes i have a very high end computer i built my self last year, Yes I know a new computer and new OS can make certain older games run worse.)
  12. Thank you a lot guys I was actually able to take a town with only 2 killed (previous was around 20) as the Canadians. It took a lot more micromanagement then I thought it would.
  13. So what i'm taking is to be really liberal with suppresive fire. But what do you mean with 1 and 4 What tactics should i apply to a fire team when i want them to enter a building? How do i set a inserting team to 360 degrees? (I understand you can give individual way points orders but last time i checked you can only do 180 degrees with Target Area)
  14. Can some one explain to me what is the best way going about on trying to assault a fedayeen city/town. I find that i lose a bunch of guys from entering buildings and my guys not taking cover and instead being like "I will kneel in front of this window when we are getting shot at" even though i tell them to "Hide" which within a second they go out of and continue kneeling. I also lose a majority of my men because i tell them to assault a building, then they get shot at and killed from the room across or men to the left or right of the entrance. EVEN THOUGH in proper MOUT infantry are always told to clear their corners and not just go straight down the middle of the room, stare at a wall, then get shot in the back. What i do currently is: When I get shot at and get engaged in a building to building fire fight I either 1. Run away (Which gets them killed as they stand up) 2. Engage the enemy (Which will almost guarantee i lose a man) 3. Hide/Take cover (Which my men always disobey). When I try and take a building/compound that I believe to not hold enemy I do: 1. Use the Assault Command, 2. Watch my men enter the building and get destroyed as the room next to them holds enemy's. I also don't want to target every building i'm going to enter as that can be a waste of ammo at times. SOME ONE please help me as for right now the Canadian campaign is UNPLAYABLE for the amount of men i lose because of all the CQB. FYI. I am currently using the latest patch "1.32" and playing the Canadian Campaign.
