  1. That's why most developers when adding replays do instruction sets for the AI. Rather than recording what happened on the screen and/or what ever battlefront does to save their replays.
  2. 30 gig file for a 2 hour game? I don't think that's how replays work in video games, but ok. It would be 30gigs if it physically recorded the game in mp3. But for a video game with a internal replay system what most game developers do is each replay is a set of instructions for the AI. Just a small couple kb (few mb at most) file with a bunch of instructions to make sure the AI play out the game exactly as it was originally played out. But I guess that's impossible and womble feels the need to be condescending to prove that.
  3. I have a suggestion to make navigating for information slightly easier. 1. Under the Maps and Mods subforum can we have one section for complete maps and mods and another section for incomplete maps and mods (so people can present what they have so far) 2. A Multiplayer subforum, so that it's easier to find matchups. 3. A Strategy and Tactics / AAR subforum. I find it a shame when AAR's or Strategy questions get buried by general user questions or statements.
  4. I was thinking 'Why not just simply not reload the game? It's not like other games where it's 1 click away to reload'. But the idea of having it as some sort of personal achievement where it says 'Beaten in Iron man mode' is actually a cool idea.
  5. Dumb question but I'm assuming Instant commands are only 'instant' in Real-Time and you still have to wait for the turn to finish to apply a command in we-go?
  6. What do you guy's do after you lose a scenario? I get stressed out because I know whenever I retry the scenario I will already know where everything is. And if it's part of a campaign I can't skip it. I'm wondering if people have ways to deal with this or if everyone simply doesn't lose.
  7. Oh ok, that's interesting. Thank you. The last time I played combat mission was CMSF and it was veteran. I just started a Iron - We-Go Ukrainian campaign however. Wish me luck!
  8. I believe DPICM is a different scale. As it's not commonly used due to it's ability to destroy friendlies and civilian casualties. If that's not the case. Hell do I know why it's not included.
  9. Do you mind explaining to me how the "ammo dumps" thing works. I didn't understand what that meant while reading the description. Thank you.
  10. Looks like i'm simply too stupid to use the "manage poll" button. Oh well. Sorry for the spam I guess.
  11. The question on whether to play on We-go or RT raised some interesting comments. So I am curious as to what difficulty people like to play on. I also threw in a poll on We-go or RT because i didn't in the last thread.
  12. I'm curious as to how many of you are playing the game. In the WW2 titles there was not much reason to play it in real time as the combat was far slower. However in CMSF I found it impossible to play in We-go due to too much happening in a minute to the point that I would simply be watching my men get slaughtered. However this game is slightly larger scale than CMSF and with no insurgents appearing out of no where. I'm thinking of playing this game in We-go but i'm afraid of getting all my guys killed in CQB.
  13. If this game doesn't release by the end of this month then BF should really give up on guessing the release of their game and just release it when it's finished.
  14. Have they started the final evaluation yet? Only 1 week left of January (holy crap where did the month go)
  15. Yea, I was basing that off of if they released CMBS on steam. But i'm also comparing that to DARTUS game which isn't as fleshed out as a BF game. His game has a odd community because the average person playing has not many hours into the game but a great deal of people own it. Which is the opposite of what I imagine BF products being (Low sales but those sales log a great deal of hours)
  16. It wouldn't be 10000 a month. More in the 100's/1000's depending on how close it is to the initial release of the game.
  17. This argument can't go anywhere unfortunately because the only people that know BF business status in terms of profit margin and expenses is BF themselves. And the only people who understand how Steam works is people like me who helped a friend launch their game which I don't think I can mention but I will if questioned. I should note that my friend was a modder for Total War and this was his first release of a game and that due to Steam he was able to release a niche game and have it sell extremely well and get a huge amount of publicity.
  18. Well, it would be different in the sense that I would have all my games on a client I always use. And I can easily uninstall and reinstall the game without worrying about losing my product due to your installation limit. I would also be able to communicate with my friends on steam which I enjoy a great deal and is one of the main reasons I use steam. It would also allow me to easier find people who also play the game and speak with them to arrange games. I also become a free advertiser as when I launch the game that broadcasts to the 330 people I have on my friends list and they may be interested in checking that game out.
  19. Is this what you say on every thread? If you don't like a discussion then just avoid the discussion. If people are argueing it then that means there is enough interest from either side of the coin to deserve a thread. It's not like one dude made a thread then continued to spam post it begging for steam.
  20. To be fair how many game companies do have refund policies? For how easy it is to crack and non-DRM game once you get it I can see why companies wouldn't allow for it. I'm speaking out of my ass on this one though.
  21. It's not about the current customer base. Of course the current customer base doesn't care, they bought the game didn't they? It's about the potential customer base that will help expand the community which means more active forums and more user made content. And in the long term if it means a better game because more money to spend on technology and staff. If it wasn't for some random PC Gamer article that was showing the best wargames and me actually bothering to look at the last page of that article I would have never found out about combat mission. And that would be a real shame because I do really enjoy the series.
  22. Exactly, there is some really weird **** on steam that is very successful because of how diverse steam is. And with how popular a game like Ultimate General: Gettysburg I can't possibly see how a fully fleshed out tactical wargame wouldn't be successful on Steam. That's the kind of **** a great deal of people probably want. And your right about the elitism talking, I find Starcraft 2 has a much bigger learning curve than Combat Mission and Starcraft 2 is a bloody e-sport (although phasing out until Legacy of the Swarm saves it). I don't like circlejerking but you made a good point.
  23. When is the last last time you used steam buddy? I've got thousands of hours logged into steam games and I don't think I have had a problem with steam logging me out for 4 years. And when I think of intrusive DRM I think of ubisoft and Silent Hunter V which would kick you out of game if you lost connection to the ubisoft platform for a split second. Not steam where you just have to be logged in for 10 seconds to activate your game. Then from there you can unplug your modem if you really wanted to.
