  1. Great video, Chris. Thanks. Is there a video anywhere that walks new players through using the quick battle to set up a competent fight? I'm not as familiar with the TOEs as I'd like to be, and I often struggle trying to put together a decent force, and stay within the point limit for a small, medium, etc. size battle. I would love to watch a video that showed a smallish to medium force being put together. How to remove elements, add elements, add individual tanks, platoons, MGs, etc. If there isn't one, I think it would be a great training video to show all new and potential players the power of the quick battle system. Thanks! -=Jeff
  2. Well said, Vic. I didn't retreat, I just didn't realize the extent of the spaminator at first.
  3. Ok, I apologize to the forum moderators. I see now this guy is a posting spammer. Repeatedly posting one liners to his own threads. I didn't notice that, but now I see it is all over the place. You did a good thing locking that other thread. The dude is out of control with his repeated postings. As you were!
  4. The moderators locked the "Someone laid an egg . . . " thread, for unknown reasons. Apparently they thought it was offensive or something, and threatened to suspend the OPs account. I just don't get it. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that thread. It was kind of funny. The game didn't release on Easter, and they made a joke. There was no religion bashing of any sort. But, they'll keep a thread with half naked ladies, and posts about sloppy seconds. Which I find hilarious, but what's the difference here? Sex jokes, or jokes about the game not releasing on Easter, and some lighthearted humor about laying eggs. I just don't understand why these guys have to be so uptight here. I love their games, and I eagerly await the release of Final Blitzkrieg. But, for Pete's sake, lighten up Francis! -- Sgt. Hulka
  5. Well, let's hope you're right, Ian. Every new game that comes out (Red Thunder, Black Sea) is a missed opportunity for an improved UI, hence my "just satisfied" comment, which I still stand by. The lack of tooltips, and the developers disinterest in adding them to make their game more user friendly just frustrates me to no end. Just my opinion.
  6. I'm sure nothing is simple in programming. But, nearly every game in existence nowadays has tooltips. Heck, even indie games made by one guy have tooltips. Battlefront has a bunch of smart guys. They can add them if they wanted. Bottom line for me - Battlefront is charging top dollar for their games, and their UI is "antideluvian" (thank you Womble!) and sub par for a game of this quality and price range. It is also obvious that their UI (amongst other things) is lacking in many aspects, given all the mods that come out as soon as a new game is released, to improve at least the look and feel of the UI, as much as possible. I love these games, but I am frustrated with the way BFC is just "satisfied" with their UI.
  7. For newbies, tooltips are super essential. In this case, I am referring to the white/bluish icons that show the different systems vehicles have. Why can't you add tooltips to at least describe what these icons are? I am constantly having to look in the manual to see what each one does. Tooltips would solve this, and make the game much more user friendly to new players, and folks like me with poor memories. After so many upgrades to this game engine, tooltips are still lacking. Tooltips. White/bluish icons. And more! Please. Onwards!
  8. Yikes! Excellent point. I usually download everything to my one staging folder, then move as appropriate. I certainly might have overwritten the base game. It will prompt you before overwriting, but still, the generic files.zip seems like they overlooked giving these new files unique names. Thank you for pointing this out, Lt. Smash!
  9. Newbie running through the tutorial. It talks about the Bradleys having TOW ATGMs, and the Abrams having airburst capable shells. Do you have to give any special commands to get a vehicle/tank/infantry to fire their ATGMs (or any special weapon) as opposed to just their machine guns or cannon, or will they fire them automatically as needed? I would have the same question for man-portable weapons. Very newbie question, I know. I feel shame.
  10. What pref file, please? The one in C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission\Black Sea called preferences.pfc? If not, where is it, please? And what is saved in it that we should keep between updates?
  11. I play with them on, and I have a pretty decent system, too. But, the strangeness, blockiness, and disco light effect they often produce really makes the game look horrible. When they look good, they are great. I haven't tried playing with shadows off yet, but I suspect I'd rather have them on for the times when they look great.
  12. I am just getting back into CM games, and thought there was a hotkey to jump the camera to an enemy target when you click on the enemy icon. I cannot find this in the manual. I'm sure it's there and I'm just lame. Any help is much appreciated.
  13. Speakers with a volume knob is indeed a wonderful invention, agreed! However, that does not help when you want the music volume lower and the sound effects volume up higher. It is just a basic thing that games with music and sound effects should have. Separate volume control for music and sound, and speech if a game has speech.
  14. Yeah, I found that. Thanks. I am just baffled that this game engine has been around for so many years, and they haven't added a volume slider.
  15. Thanks. Bummer. Too bad. This is a basic function that has no reason being left out of a game.
  16. Excellent. Thank you Sacktime. That posting is 3+ years old. I assume the basics are the still the same, even with the newest version of the dropbox client?
  17. Thanks Sacktime. I thought maybe that was it, but the icons looked different in that image in the manual. I would also like to know the answer to Spitzenhund's question. These buttons have no use in We-Go?
  18. Thank you Phil. I understand the issue. I don't think I have ever seen other images with those ugly jaggy shadows.
  19. What do the three icons to the left of the M-C-S-A buttons do? They are reddish orange, and the first one looks like a clock, the middle one looks like a solid circle, and the third one looks like four arrows pointing up/down/left/right. Thanks again!
  20. I remember there was a tutorial on setting up and using Dropbox with the Combat Mission games. Could some kind soul please direct me to that message or website where this is explained? I want to get set up, but have no idea how to do it. I think there was also a tool for tracking all your multiplayer games somewhere. Thank you very much!
  21. This happens mostly when I zoom in, and while zooming in, the shadows shimmer and dance around. It also happens to a lesser extent when moving without being zoomed in, but as I get closer to the trees the shadows clear up and look good. I am using PC with Windows 7 64 bit, and an Nvidia GTX 760 with 2GB video RAM, and latest drivers. Also - I can't figure out how to post an image, instead of the link to my image. Any assistance explaining how to post an image on this forum would be much appreciated. I am pretty computer savvy, but can't figure it out on this forum. Thank you very much!

  23. Is there a slider or hotkey or control somewhere to adjust the music and/or sound effects volume? The options screen only has on/off toggles. I would like to lower the music volume, but keep the sound effects volume up. Does this game allow you to do that, please?
