  1. There is a fair bit of Italian equipment that's missing, to be fair!

FM 24/29 light machine gun (French Capture)
Cannone da 90/53 (This is a big one! The Semovente 90/53 is already in game, and only has 12 rounds!)
Solothurn S-18/1000 (Mounted on As. 42 but would be valuable in ground mount)
Italian AA guns haven't been added (Once again, already have an example on the As. 42)
    Flame throwers

I think that with some tweaks to the Italian OOB to bring them in line with the additions to other nations over the past years and modules, Italy would be surprisingly punchy.

  2. From skimming wikipedia, there are some Russian variants of the MT-LB I'd like to see. I don't know how I'd go about finding images of all of them, but I'm guessing they're similar to the MT-LBM-6MB already in game.

    • MT-LBM (izdeliye 6MA3) - MT-LBM armed with four 9M133 Kornet ATGM launchers, 7.62 mm PKTM tank machine gun and an AGS-30 30 mm automatic grenade launcher.
    • MT-LBM (izdeliye 6MB) - MT-LBM fitted with a turret from BTR-80A.
      • MT-LBM (izdeliye 6MB2) - MB armed with AGS-17 30 mm.
    • MT-LBM (izdeliye 6MB3) - MT-LBM armed with GSh-23V 23 mm, AGS-30 30 mm and "Kord" 12.7 mm.
    • MT-LBM (izdeliye 6MB4) - MT-LBM armed with GSh-30K 30 mm, AGS-30 30 mm and "Kord" 12.7 mm.
    • MT-LBM (izdeliye 6MB5) - MT-LBM armed with twin gun 23 or 30 mm, "Igla" SAM and equipped with improved sights.

    DougPresh,

Ref your remark about no NATO IR-blocking artillery shell, this segment from Future Weapons, starting about 7:16, indicates the Germans have exactly such a shell. Needless to say, I find this confusing.

    Regards,

    John Kettler

Disclaimer: When I went through Artillery School in 2005 there was no such shell and in my time in since then I haven't seen it in hundreds of shoots with the Canadians and Americans.

  4. The "white" smoke of smoke grenades and artillery does not block IR.

The "brown" smoke of AFVs does. I think the US also has this.

Surprisingly there are no artillery shells designed to block IR yet in any NATO inventory at least, that surprised me in arty school.

  5. I wish every thread didn't devolve into how Glorious Ukraine is on the verge of driving all the way to Volgograd if only they would be let off the leash.

There are definitely some high granularity "sim" features I'd like to see (Russian and Ukrainian Technical Recce platoons having a function for one), and I would certainly like to see Probe missions focus on the conduct of recce, survey, route clearance or security but I'm happy overall with the direction the series has been taking.

  6. There's a lot to go in here, but the simplest way I can explain night vision at least is this:
Ukraine: Night vision devices on some weapons, a handful per squad. Recon teams have every man equipped with a night vision device on weapon.
Russia: Night vision devices on more weapons in a squad. Recon teams have every man equipped plus night vision monocular on their helmets.
USA: Night vision binoculars on everyone. Some thermals on weapons

  7. I'm just saying for QB! I understand why every crew-served under the sun isn't a GL, and having crewed a HK GMG at work, I can tell you they're not all they are cracked up to be, but in-game they seem to help my dismounts push a position much better. That accuracy and aiming-to-hit delay means that they light up the entire woodline and not just the part where I've spotted the enemy. Usually that ends up suppressing enemies I haven't even seen yet.

  8. With the granularity of the damage model versus something like health bars I'd be very interested to see how artillery fragments shred sub-systems, something that is absent now. A BTR-70's armour might be pierced, but even more than that the antennae being damaged would have a big impact.

Likewise using airburst to break the radars of AAA and SAMs would be a nice detail.

Thank you for all the work and the attention to detail!
