Very impressive - these really look the part!

Hi Michael. If you are on a Mac there is a (program?) you need to run to get the activation screen to appear (I think of is accessed via cmbn in explorer). I am not at my Mac at the moment (recovering from a New Year's piping tour + too much whisky) but coukd send you a screenshot mañana if you're struggling? Happy New Year everyone!

I'm loving it - it really adds to the atmosphere, and if you are enjoying it too - great! You're adding a lot of detail from a serving officer's point of view, which really helps in understanding modern tactics.
-
yes, I agree, as a general principle, I do think, however, that some scenarios are practically unwinable first time through (courage and fortitude.....).
-
Fascinating stuff Bil. I'm glad I'm not fighting against you! I am avidly following the DAR - thank you for all the work you are doing - I come back to your DARs time and time again because they are so full of information.
-
Very meaty sound - I like it. You've convinced me that I don't want to be on the wrong end of one of them! Volume seems ok to me.
What Russian weapons would use that sound? The current vanilla heavy mg sounds seem very odd to me.
-
I'm amazed you survived that. It looked like it was going to be a slaughter!
-
Your AARs are really special Bil - I'm really looking forward to it.
Could I ask what system you're running?

Interesting to see the US ammo load carried for a Thompson gun - 300 rounds carried. I'm not sure how that translates into a combat load.

Someone else in John's defence. I think some of the negative comments are in relation to comments John made quite a while ago. I appreciate his input into the forum and he has brightened up my days on several occasions. He often raises interesting points for discussion, and I am very impressed in his perseverance in battling (literally) his way through some scenarios!
-
Good to hear you are having some success John.

Nice assault - that mission reduces me to tears regularly....

"Target lighter"
No, seriously, I wish for a "Target special". Useful for flamethrowers, for tanks with canister munitions to fire into woods, for infantry squads with bazookas (to fire on buildings for example), for regular infantry squads (to prioritise throwing grenades)...
Yes, like this idea

Excellent! Well done BFC.
Intrigued by some of the content so looking forward to giving it a spin
Yup, interesting list of 'fixes', some of them look suspiciously like improvements. Looking forward to giving it a spin.

Half-destroyed buildings, with the roof gone and most of the walls still standing like a hollow shell. (instead of either lightly damaged or completely razed to the ground).
Not sure if this is already in the newer versions of the game, I only played CMBN so far.
Yes, definitely! Umlaut's mods are fantastic, if they could somehow be incorporated into the main game it would be a major improvement.
-
Fantastic - looks great!
-
Yes, sounds grim. Glad to see you have both come out the other end.
-
Ok, thanks. What I think I understand from that is that you think the smoke grenades from infantry/tanks are modelled ok but not the smoke shells that tanks are firing?
-
OK, so when I target smoke with a sherman, for example, I am guessing it is currently shooting Base Emission, but WP seems a much better option (at least for emergency blinding a sudden threat)?
-
You've lost me there... What's the difference between WP and base emission shells?
-
Excellent DAR - a really brutal close-in slug fest. Love the sound mod too. Looking forward to more.
-
I wish our tank gun smoke shells (not the ones the crew throws out) and WP created a smoke cloud that quickly in the game.
More realistic and useful I think.
Yes, I wondered whether that was realistic too - it makes sense that the detonation of a shell results in more instantaneous smoke. This would definitely change in-game dynamics.

That is the saddest thing I have heard all week.
Me too, couldn't believe it when I first read it . I guess Michael doesn't sweat the small stuff... I sure hope something can be done about it.

Well then fine...
Let's compare digital products to digital products.
Here's a pack of 6 ship skins for 1 ship in Elite Dangerous... it's 12.50£
And here's the Elite Dangerous game. it's 40£ and it will include hundreds of ships that you can travel through the entire milky way with over 100 billion star systems, each with their own planets and stations. Each with their own sort of government and tons of resources.
Now... that's only for 40£
That's a ton more content than what's in a CM game.
So should they start giving the games away for free?
Or should we just realize that a pack with 27 units takes time and effort to make and that time and effort must be paid somehow, and 20 bucks is not alot of money.
And don't talk to me about the value of money.
Have you ever been starving?
I have.
Have you ever lived without any income?
I have.
I know the value of money.
And 20 bucks is not alot of money.
Hell, I could make that much money if I just went out and started begging in the streets.
That's quite a post!!

Kriegsmarine scenario - still haven't gotten anywhere near beating it - would love to see a video AAR of someone doing this as I really think it is impossible - and as other posters said, frustrating. I had another several gos today and failed repeatedly. The mortars don't seem to have any effect on the larger buildings Anymore detailed hints anyone??
