  1. From - Battlefront Forum > CMx2 > Combat Mission Red Thunder > CMRT - BETA AAR - Soviet Side New thread to avoid digressing off topic from Bil's AAR (no spoilers) Having just watched Chris Nelson's Twitch.tv first Red Thunder video, I am extremely impressed with quality of graphics in the CMx3 standard game engine now. The "look" of the game seems enhanced indeed. In Chris's game and both Beta AAR's, your maps, George, are exceptional! As an new-topic request, might you consider making "A Map Maker's Guide to Combat Mission" much like Jon Sowden's Market Garden Scenario Design DAR/AAR? While Jon's tutorial is very good, I would welcome learning whatever tricks and technique's you might wish to share.
  2. This thread in general is timely for me. I am in the process of creating my first scenario intend to develop a several. I would welcome a "Scenario Depot" and suggest that it will and should include spoilers. Such a thread should include a caveat saying so. The feedback I really need is twofold; 1) Playtesting a "beta" version so I can make it better for general release. 2) Players telling me both what they liked and what they disliked; particularly why. I don't expect praise but when I screw the pooch, I'd appreciate knowing why and where things went south.
  3. @George MC, Got it. Thank you. Less than 30 minutes to get an answer. What a great forum! Follow up question: So does that make this a CW scenario as far as posting to repository / describing to players? Again. Thank you!
  4. Appreciate previous help thus far. Hit a new snag. Finished map. Created deployment zones and mission map objectives for both sides. Purchased US Infantry formation, reinforcements, and obstacles. Deployed US forces on map. Am now ready to purchase and deploy Axis forces. Scenario is France on 6-August-1944. Want to purchase formation for SS Panzer Division, Aufklahrung Battalion. (Units from an Armored Reconnaissance company of 2nd SS). Editor won't let me. Only offers option to purchase Army and Kriegsmarine formations. Waffen SS and Luftwaffe don't display the rectangular bracket indicating "selectable". (As FYI, Am using CMBN v2.12 on a backup laptop where I only installed CMBN Base game and CMMG. Using the laptop to work on scenario writing at night while on the road for business travel. Primary gaming rig has CMBN, CMCW, and CMMG.) Am new at creating scenario's. This is my first. Problem is likely User Error. What is wrong? How do I fix? Thank you.
  5. Red Thunder beckons you falsely! Here be the place to glory in your portrait mods. Come back, Mord. Come baaaack . . . . Must have your mod sooooon!
  6. @gdbf01, Nice post. Well said. Thank you, Glenn.
  7. Ditto above. Add the following: - Mord's Unit portraits - EZ / Vein's patched US uniforms - Vein's tracers - all Aris terrain mods too
  8. So, the Charles S. Roberts Award nomination should be a joint submission then? Kudos to you both! Most impressive. Await release with bated breath. Thank you.
  9. @sburke, Got it! Makes sense when one knows the logic. Thank you.
  10. Scenario Designers, Started making a scenario. Am doing the map first (thank you, Battlefront, for the overlay feature!!!); nothing yet created for Forces, Units, Objectives and such. Mapping question. - Where are fortifications (foxholes, trenches, bunkers, pillboxes) in the map editor? - How do you add fortifications to and place upon map? I don't see them in any ground, building, or flavor object selections. Scenario module question. What makes a scenario available as CMBN base-game, CW, or MG? - What else besides including any British / British equipped units makes it "Commonwealth" required? - What else besides including ditch-lock or MB bridges makes it "Market Garden" required? Appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you!
  11. Spoken like a true cavalry scout! This kind of patience is the hardest part of the game to master for me. Excellent training for Scott Coulson. Great advice for us! A worthwhile read; thank you for posting, Bil. Good luck and good gaming!
  12. This is exceptional Scenario Design DAR/AAR. For those like me who learn better by seeing how things work , here is a 30 minute Combat Mission Map Tutorial on YouTube at URL = It helped me better understand what this thread is teaching. Posting as an FYI.
  13. I'm a fan of Veins_tracers_CMBN_v3 mod. See URL = http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1127 Aris also has his own at GreenAsJade. See URL = http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/search?search=tracers&commit=Search Download 'em all and check out which one(s) you like best. Good luck and good gaming!
  14. If you meant 442nd (not 443rd) RCT, it was part of the 34th ID (initially as the 100th Inf Bn in '43 then the whole 442nd in '44) until re-assigned to the 92nd ID in early '45. I meant "will you be posting before or after your well earned rest break from all things CM. I should have asked, "When will you be posting?" instead. This thankless, greedy, selfish bastardo wants to know when he can play with these very cool new toys . . . .
  15. @Mord, These are absolutely superb! Thank you for creating all this amazing stuff. Will you be posting before you go rest and refresh? Enjoy your well-earned hiatus.
  16. @Bil, The Tactical Toolbox is excellent! I emphatically recommend it. Battle Drills & training scenario's are exceptional. Thank you for doing this!
  17. @Mord, May I add a new challenge? Any intentions to do the 92nd ID including the 442nd RCT for the Italian campaign? 92nd Infantry Division - Buffalo Soldiers 92nd Division (1942–1945) - 365th Infantry Regiment - 370th Infantry Regiment - 371st Infantry Regiment - 597th Field Artillery Battalion (105mm) - 598th Field Artillery Battalion (105mm) - 599th Field Artillery Battalion (105mm) Attached Units: - 366th Infantry Regiment (Nov, 1944 – Feb, 1945) - 442nd Infantry Regiment (Nisei) (April 1945 – ) - 473rd Regimental Combat Team (formed from anti-aircraft units) (February 1945 – May 1945?). - 758th Tank Battalion (Colored) - 679th Tank Destroyer Battalion (Colored) - 894th Tank Destroyer Battalion - 701th Tank Destroyer Battalion 442nd Regimental Combat Team - Nisei A uniform mod exists; not sure if its CMFI compatable. Reference URL = http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=2627 Keep up the good stuff! Thank you.
  18. Completed this using v2.12 at Elite setting. Plays very differently from the original "Training" campaign scenario. Good fun which rewards sound tactics. You command a US infantry-armor combined arms company-sized task force; nice troop mix, plenty of time, exciting developments, well suited to novice players. Thank you BinHidin!
  19. @Mord, I have version_4.0 and love this mod. Use it for every scenario set up along with ez patched_uniforms. Thank you! Scenario "Patton's assault nemesis" (http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=2828) has 11th IR of US 5th ID versus GER 25th PanzerGrenadier Division. Your mod already has 11th/5th ID. Any chance of 25th PG being on your to-do list?
  20. Check out "Big Battles Come in Small Clashes - Trilogy". URL = http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=select&id=44&orderby=4&page=2 "Beach Front Property" starts with US forces on the beach. Have not played it so cannot comment further. Beach Front Property - In an amphibious landing, a company of U.S. infantry hits the shore on the western side of the Cotentin Peninsula in support of the post D-Day ground operations. Their objective is to seize a Coastal Manor overlooking the beach as well as the seaside road that partitions it from the nearby village.
  21. @Broadsword, What is the URL you use for 1947 French aerial photos? Thx.
