  1. I don't know if the others are experiencing the same, but for me the forum is practically down: it takes forever to load or it doesn't load at all. It either means that there's a lot of interest in the LOS discussions or that lots of people check if the module has been released...
  2. Ummm... I don't get it, if it doesn't happen today it should be EVEN MORE LIKELY that's going to happen on Friday...
  3. Good morning. Today my monkey feels something electric in the air, he's definitely at ready...
  4. What about "negative" feedback? Instead: "It will be released day X" Something like: "Today it will NOT be released" Or maybe they so close that any minute could be the one? My two cents, Ricroma
  5. Sorry, man, my sense of humor decreases every time I hit f5...
  6. Was this officially stated? Did I miss something? Thanks, Ricroma
  7. For keeping the good vibes coming: I'm leaving work in half an hour, I won't be able to check the forum for another hour or so, I'm sure that any relevant information (or even the GAME) will be released in this span of time...
  8. A question for the experts: is it likely for BF to release the game in a week day (Monday to Thursday), or it will only will happen on Fridays? Just to adjust my monkey F5 rate...
  9. Wow! I didn't expect Battlefront to be such a dedicated company and release a game on Sunday! ;-)
  10. Let's try reverse psychology... Bha, those videos are so bad, BF, you can release the module right now, nobody will ever buy it anyway...
  11. Ehmmm... any news about release? Last announcement was on January 18th... sorry to ask, but you know, here it's really cold and snowy, no better weather to stay home and play :-)
  12. The mob rules, and it screams: UNIFORMS! UNIFORMS! (Just kidding, take your time, you already made an outstanding work!) Ricroma
  13. Cool! It seems it worked! Back playing! Thanks again Fuser/Aris!
  14. Ehhh... ok, now I didn't think to be so dumb, but... a) I have all three .rar files in one folder; how can I extract all three together? Should I compress the container folder too and then unzip it? Seriously sorry, but I cannot seem to figure this out... Ricroma
  15. Hi! Thanks Aris! By the way... I'm having issues installing the mod... maybe I'm missing something... So, I've downloaded the mod from the repository. a) Unzipped PART 1: fine; Unzipped PART 2: am I supposed to past the files into the TEXTURE PACK folder from PART 1 or keep them separate? In case I need to past the files into one directory, I get a message that 51 files from PART 2 will overwrite files from PART 1. What I'm supposed to do? c) Didn't get to PART 3 yet, but if there is something peculiar to know... well, let me know! Thanks, looking forward to enjoy the mod in my current campaign! Ricroma
  16. Hi guys, sorry to bother you, but the work is superslow today and I don't really know what to do (work in a store, not the busiest time of the year...) I was wondering... were MG42 really that common in Normandy and/or in the german army in general? I mean, I'm not historian, but it seemed to me that MG42s were really deadly and scary weapons, and it surprises me to see that almost every german squad in CM:BN has one. I don't know why I always thought that they were more like a rare goody (maybe not rare, but not so spread out too). I don't know, of course no need for answer. Really a pointless topic! Ricroma
  17. Hi! I see that there are several uniforms mods out. My question is: to add historical immersion I really would like the possibility to have a "mixed up" result. Especially for the german army, I think it was really common to have different uniforms (maybe I'm wrong). So I was wondering if: a) there's any mod that add this "random" factor. if I install different uniform mods I will end up with a random outcome. Don't know if I make myself clear. Thanks anyway for any answer. Ricroma
  18. Ok, thanks mjkerner! That sounds good: easy and practical! So, let's start downloading! Ricroma
  19. Hi, I have a really basic question. Sorry if this sound stupid. I want to install different mods, do I have to put all the files into the Z directory or can I use subdirectories to keep stuff organized? I've read that the Z directory "accepts also subdirectories", but what does it means exactly? Let me make an example: I want to install Aris various mods that looks great. There are tons of them, and for each one there are 4/5 files to install. Now, I do I install them all? a) I drop all the files into t Z directory... easy to do, but a real pain in the ass in case I want to delete some mods... I create a path like Z/Aris_mods and in there I drop all the files (again, kind of a pain in case of deleting stuff) c) For each mod I create a directory under Z. In this case how should I name the directories? Meaning: c1) I can name them whatever, like: Z/Aris_Sherman Z/Aris_pantherA ... Z/Aris_blablabla c2) There's a specific name I should give to subdirectories. Thanks, thanks a lot! Ricroma
  20. Hi, I confess, I am a bad player. I like complicated games, in particular CM, but I happen to be a really bad player. In particular, in this post I would like to have some advice from good player about one of the most frustrating aspect of the game (at least for me): scouting. I'm not military expert, so what I do would be mostly wrong under every possible aspect. Here is my problems: - scouting cars / vehicles: these are the most frustrating. They look cool and fast, but in my hands they become mostly moving coffins. I figure that they are supposed to go ahead and spot enemy positions. Some causality is always possible, of course, but when I play they usually last a couple of turns. They rarely return fire, actually they rarely "spot" an enemy, most of the time they are caught by enemy fire without an hint of where it comes from. I guess my error lies mostly in the fact that I used to rush them too fast and too far from the bulk of my forces. Lately I start to move them slower (mostly in hunt mode), but achieved similar result. I don't know if this is historically accurate, but if it is, man, it would have take a lot of courage to be behind the wheel of these things back in those days. - Infantry: compared to scouting cars, they seems a little better in actually spotting the enemy. When possible I set a squad in hunting mode and send it ahead covered by another squad. What usually happen anyway is that they spot the enemy only because the enemy starts fire upon them. This turns out to be a shooting game for the enemy, since my scouting team/squad tends to become pinned/suppressed and rarely returns fire. Better results are achieved by properly setting up a covering squad, but even in this case the causalities are pretty high, since the enemy is usually dug in. I understand that even better result would be achieved by starting to lay suppressive fire on "supposed" enemy positions before they are actually spotted. This worked for me a couple of times, but the problem here is that, since I play wego, the suppressing team/squad end up wasting a considerable amount of ammunition: they start shooting at the begin of the turn and won't stop. So, these are my concerns on scouting. Sorry for the long post. I'm at work and is the slowest day ever... I had to kill time somehow! Ricroma
  21. Thanks for all the answers and suggestions. Due to some unexpected events, I have to give up the upgrading ideas. I guess I'll wait at least until Christmas when, maybe, I will be able to put my hand on one of the new super-duper video card. If you like to keep discussing video card settings and such, go on. I will take any useful advice, considering that (at least in my mind), the upgrade is only delayed not canceled. Thanks again, Ricroma PS. Since the first days of CM, I've got that game speed is mostly influenced by CPU more than vga card. I really don't feel comfortable with overclocking stuff, but I was wondering if adding some ram would matter the same. I have Win7 64bit with 4GB of ram. Adding other 4gigs can make any improvement? While waiting for the new video card, I can manage to scrap some 50 euros for new ram.
  22. Hi, thanks for the answers. Well, I was slightingly favoring the GTX because I've read somewhere that Nvidia is better with physics calculations. And I figure that there's a lot of physics going on in CM. But I'm not expert and I may be wrong or misleaded by other factors... like the price: why the heck a 1.2Gb card would cost almost 100€ more than a 2Gb card (or 50 in case of a 6970)? That has to be because it's better! :-) Not have an opinion about noise and heat... I mean, as long as my 750w power pack is enough to power the card... I understand that heat can lessen the performance, so I guess less heat is better. My screen resolution is 1920x1080 and I'm not planning to upgrade my monitor... bought a LG Led monitor a couple of months ago... not the top of the line, but for now I'm happy with it (forgot the model number). That's it... thanks again for the help... Ricroma
  23. Hi, I'm pondering the pruchase of a new video card. One of the game I play the most is CM, so I would like to buy what fits better this game. Right now I'm considering these two options: - RADEON HD6950 2GB RAM - GAINWARD GeForce GTX 570 (some overclocked version, like the Phantom or something else). The GeForce price is quite higher (50 € or so), but for all the review I've seen, it seems better than the 6950. That's fine, since my budget can stretch up to 350€. From a CM point of view, what would it be better? Thanks, Ricroma
