  1. But abneo, shouldn't mean that people have certain switches of right and wrong already and act (and subscribe to beliefs) based on that? Why did someone do child rape? Because, despite of christianity (that doesn't teach that, as you said), the switch in such people's head is ****ed up. In short, belief in a god or not is in many ways irrelevant to good morals. That's my point, I guess.
  2. Dude, ok, no need to use the emphatic bold numbers, jeez. I know all the tanks in the series (at least the base models) and who produced them, just unsure about this one.
  3. Are you completely sure? That thing is on the GHQmodels modern miniatures list, and I have never seen one off/misnamed miniature by them. But also, that Osprey issue was in 1985, so...
  4. The worst thing is, before I get old, WW2 veterans will all be dead. Meaning, I'll see a wave of revisionism and nostalgia from people who never got to live in certain regimes and will be full of **** idealists (in a bad, bad way). People who directly saw things are the closest tie with the past. With them dead, ludicrous things like extermination camp denial will multiply.
  5. But then again, you read this paper... on the internet! It's a vicious cycle, it's... *enter admiral Ackbar voice* IT'S A TRAP! *exit admiral Ackbar voice*
  6. Only the unit icons are, really. Smoother graphics may give you that impressions. Dunno, gonna buy it soon, though. Tomorrow I get a paypal, and then order straight away. I'll be able to tell you my opinion, then.
  7. Hah! Seeing the CM:BN previews, CMSF 2 is just gonna be the awesomest of them all.
  8. Ah, those wacky Russians. I don't know if to subscribe or not to the Moscow defense brief, in the hope some radical breakthrough is announced. Ah! Another thing that just got me. I read of this tank model in several places, but could never see specifications. Only things said were "a variant of the T-72", and from an Osprey book I bought last summer, a photo of Soviet marine armour seemed to confirm it. But what is the T-74 exactly?
  9. But as a general rule of thumb, anything with a strong backblast would gravely injure if not kill all the people in a room of the average CM:SF size
  10. Eh eh. Kontakt-5 was pretty good for the penetrators of its time. As I know, when Americans made tests against Kontakt equipped original Russian T-72s in the mid nineties they were surprised to see how well it withstood a couple of Abrams shots. The Gulf war and the Assad Babil probably made them think it would go without much resistance. Of course, they upgraded their penetrators immediately.
  11. Ain't Relikt, though sweet, still in testing phase, along with Kaktus? They are both publicized to be far better that Kontakt-5 and effective against modern penetrators as well as heat.
  12. Eh, such a thing as intellectual dishonesty can exist regardless of personal intelligence. Especially when sensitive topics are discussed. You know, religion, politics and the like.
  13. Well, that's just giving undue credit to the internet's average Joe.
  14. 'Zat so? I always saw era on the skirts, obviously for mobility kills, and sometimes on the hull, but never on the turret. Plus, I'm still baffled about rubber skirts. Seriously. They pioneered ERA, and never thought of this lil' jewel?
  15. As said before, slope is the least expensive defense. Hitting armor perpendicularly, I.E. at 90°, is the most effective way a penetrator can defeat it. The steeper the angle of impact... you know the drill. Usually the philosophy of east/west was (at least for the turret) steep VS resistant. And as I see, the late Merkavas... If they added some delicious ERA sammiches to those turrets, the hebrews might just be unkillable.
  16. Well, all modern citizens should be able to discover sham campaigns and protect themselves from this, right? ...right?
  17. Now those are nice skirts! Always asked what can the freaking rubber skirts protect you from though. BB guns? Pitchforks? I see. The Merkava's freaky layout combines the thick, multilayered, advanced protection of our MBTs with a very steep sloped turret. Would like to know how well the NATO APFSDS performs against it; but the day such knowlwdge will be needed will be a freaky day indeed!
  18. You were fast. (have to resist "that's what she said" jokes. Damn it, I just lost) The Merkava... Always looked strange to me. The layout of the engine is unconventional, and the turret is the most elongated I have ever seen. I think I never saw schematics, but I guess most of the space goes to thick armour. Could have used some good ECM against Hezbollah's kornets though. At least they were not armed with Khrizantemas.
  19. I know, but the last post was aesthetics only. I am perfectly aware that boxes contain better armour, more countermeasures and stuff than the gentle soviet slope. You probably (and that's a good thing also) are so professionally deformed to connect shape with functionality that you don't pay much heed to other things. But let's say for a second, forget about all your knowledge. What's your favourite looking tank of all (can be the MARK I, screw effectiveness right now! )? Take your time, no hasty replies. Dig around others. Like that south korean thingy. Really, anything.
  20. Those R2-D2 looking trash compactors? No, the western tank that wins aesthetically is the challenger 2, with its nice turret curves that smooth out the overall boxiness. Now we're talkin'!
  21. That pic gave me an existential pang. The T-90, all painted, with the electronics in place, brand new, is unlike old soviet rustbuckets, and I find it one of the most aesthetically pleasing tanks to look at. But the charred hulk... It's like seing the skeleton of what once was a beautiful woman.
  22. Wowwww. Were they shot with 120s or what? That's a pretty radical armor test right there.
  23. I think they upgraded them at least 'til the late nineties, both to fatten up sales prospects and give some teeth to their reservists.
