  1. Oh, Michael, you jaded, jaded person. But in all seriousness, for the good or the bad, these revolutions proved a thing I always thought: fear to act is an oppressed people's greatest obstacle, because, if the commonfolk unites there is nothing that can stop it. That's why a revolution started others: the arab peoples simply saw how simple it is (in relative terms, of course) to attack an old, bloated regime. It's more like solidarnošč, I think... only really organized hardliners could try to stop communism from its headfirst fall on the ground. And so it is today! But all remains to be seen and, yes, reality may crash the party as per usual.
  2. I just want you to know, Steve, I promise never to whine about anything. So take all of your time. And, I would bring freshly baked strudel to office, if I lived in Eagleland.
  3. I've been lurking for quite some time here, and I noticed that.
  4. What is more, italians deserve some slack for the 150th anniversary. Give them the freakin' name, Ford! There's already bull**** brewin' for them at home, but I won't talk about italian politics given this forum's rules.
  5. Yes, there's quite nothing like standing over your deployed little peons on the table, and squarely facing a flesh adversary. Even though, for most games, since a don't have a bajillion Euros to throw away, I regularly stand over an army of paper bases with names written on them, in the miniature-heavy stuff like, let's say, warhammer.
  6. Yes, I checked. Seems varied enough! My fear was that maybe it was overspecialized (the games proposed by Michael Emrys, however cool, seem to fall in that cathegory). I guess it's a choice between variety and accuracy, most of the times. Like the late nineties flight simulators that dealt only with a plane, but realistically, and acradey things like HAWX, full of choice but totally unrealistic. Eh eh.
  7. And, in your opinion, is the WaW series too specialized, or can the material be used for a variety of scenarios? And yeah, I see always boardgamegeek when I search for wargames, but... it's too much! Lotsa material!
  8. I only have a desire: whoever makes an eventual AAR/DAR, the Germans should have nice armor! A less static and more aggressive thing a la Mortain! With the Pzkpfw V!
  9. Michael Emrys, you have been most gracious with your answer, and by far the most complete, and i bow to thee for the help.
  10. Osprey, god no! They're good, but I gorged myself on them recently, so...
  11. They both look appealing! And picture heaviness isn't bad, if it doesn't cut down on text!
  12. Thanks, Smallfather's Keyboardist! You know, I play some Games Workshop stuff myself, and I don't know what to think? What do you mean by "badged"?
  13. Please, people, keep coming in! The more games proposed, the better! I'll take pain in sorting through the stuff!
  14. Preferrably an AAR with those two again! Go JonS!
  15. PDF is taking forever to load, but I'm optimistic. These people seem to delve in every historical period rather than specialize. You may have shown me a gold mine!
  16. Interesting proposition, although I very much doubt the appropriateness of the term "noob" when referring to an original Combat Mission veteran.
  17. I was asking myself, has anyone tried GHQmodels' Modern Micro Armour? I tried the beer and pretzels incomplete version for a few tank battles, and it was fun. Complex enough to make you think instead of blindly roll dice, but simple enough to have brigade-level battles and so forth. Plus I'm head over heels in love with the miniatures!
  18. Thanks, but I'm more interested in after WW2 things - mostly because of my ignorance, y'know? War got more complex, but specialization grew and roles got more streamlined. I'm not enough of a grog to know all tanks and tank variants of WW2, for example but I do fine with today's MBTs... Hope this post didn't make me sound like an unread arse...!
  19. Seems something like what I was looking for. I'll have to check more thoroughly, but I trust it's good because it's Avalon Hill's. Thanks.
  20. Maybe there should be a poll or something to estabilish how much people really want TCP/IP WEGO, because I've always asked myself if it's only a few people wanting it, or many people do but there's only a vocal minority asking for it. But people shouldn't aggravate Steve! Who knows what the guy thought when he saw a thread with "disturbing" in its title?
  21. Remember that great wargames weren't a niche thing in the late nineties! I still remember some good titles like TOAW mentioned in olden '97-'98 PC gamer issues.
  22. Is there other CM:N relevant tactical literature? I miss an informative read, and Clausewitz's ultra-know magnum opus left me... kinda meh.
  23. Good day to all of you people. I was wondering if there were any wargaming aficionados that could recommend some good tabletop wargames. The platoon/company size engagement of CM:SF would be a very good indicator of what I'm looking for; but I am open suggestions about operational-level games as well (excluding RISK, of course ). Any suggestions, from known classics to obscure gems, will be appreciated, and I thank people in advance.
