  1. if i cant change the size of the armour and the appearance of weapons - its simply a no go - i searched 40k and came up with a big hit when CMSF first came out and Battlefront waded in (not saying wrongly) explaining they would never release the mod tools as it would fracture the community and weigh them down with tech issues for something they didnt even design, unless it was an official approach, but then its an official game and then theyd got stomped by licencing regulations - my other thoughts are a SWAT mod im investigating
  2. to be totally honest i was going to try and change the marines to be a bit more technically advanced by about ooooo 40,000 years and make the Syrians, you know, a bit.... errr green?
  3. its the infantry models i want to try and change..... if its very very difficult i will persist, if its impossible ill just sulk! just need to know which one
  4. so ive created the exploded folder or it did it for me!! whats the best tool for opening mds files for me to have a look at the contents?
  5. why not have mission based scenarios like bad company or MW2 - havent played either but ive seen a round of games where some engineers have to blow the radio mast etc etc - instead of grab building a b c and d, destroy missile silo etc etc

  7. bugger - thats the end of that then - ive read the posts and i understand why and this isnt an arguement, more of a checking before i waste any time - but the final answer is you can mod the colour and appearance of a uniform and a face but thats it? if i wanted to make different sized troops - taller, bulkier, not all regulation height and weight - theres no way to change this? and no way to add bits of uniform, or bigger, bulkier body armour?
  8. Are the skins on troops totally moddable, as opposed to just a change of uniform pattern or colour - im thinking of an entirely different change to the way the model is presented And is weapon damage moddable - weapon A does more damage than weapon B?

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place - at the minute im using the vanilla game 1.21 and am working my way through the scenarios - loved Al Hawl, loving the factory complex, and had a great 10 mins playing the little scenario up in the 'alps'.... anyway this has led me to realise its the men on the ground that im loving the most - tanks: incredible, strykers:great but i find the infantry and urban/mout combat very immersive - are there any scenarios set up for mainly infantry and are there lots more for marines and brits?
  11. and is it not true that its easier to create scenarios for a real war, calling on experience,education, and learning and maybe the odd hollywood film for inspiration? I dont know the sales numbers but surely the more it sells means the more people are in the community and this community spawns its designers - and i assume CMBO has a bigger community, and therefore more designers. BUT...... youre right, everytime my guys round a corner, take out a tank, pull off a great firefight, i always wish they were wearing WW2 gear, firing M1s and it was a Panzer that just went up and not a T72!!
  12. i think it may be a little unfair to suggest that RT is been pushed and WEGO is the ginger step son of the game - im sure this arguement raged on here when CMSF first came out, and im unaware of the demographic split between wego-ers and RT-ers, but like Wodin without it im not a player as, i think would many more - its what makes CM so special - well, to me anyway
  13. is this comic genius or fat fingered keyboard mashing?? Are you suggesting CM:N might come out at the same time, nay before the two previously mentioned games (whatever they are, as if anyone cares ) or do we still have to wait?
  14. 1. What are the penalties for been out of range of the HQ? 2. So far i havent given any targetting orders to my pixeltroop, left them to pick and choose, havent had any issues so far - is this an accepted tactic or is it best to give them orders? thanks for any help
  15. thankyou for everyones help on this, played 3 turns last night - 3 mins was all it took to remove the terror of the mosque that took 8 AT shots, one well placed Javelin was all it took, and another squad across the map took out a tank i didnt even know was there
  16. do the pixel troops have to be IN a strker to acquire or can they be standing right next to it? and the restart is cancelled, im going to try and rescue the situation, everyone is abandoning the roof tops and pegging it back to the strykers for the right tank killer - brilliant game, the more so because i didnt expect to enjoy it - bought as UI practice for the CM:N release, simply could not get used to the cameras - someone posted that when the cam controls clicked so would enjoyment of the game - very immersive, very bonded to my pixel troops even though theyre US - IF i can turn this situation round ill buy the Brits as a reward
  17. thanks all, now the big question, restart and use my ignorance as justification or sprint for the javelins and try and rescue the situation? on another note, is it more advisable to acquire the javs from the stryker and form an AT team or just leave the squad intact?

Playing Al Rawl under 1.21 - i have hit the first tank parked outside the mosque 8 times now, admittedly with the default AT weapon and not a javelin from the strykers, and 2 hits from the heavy weapons based strykers too - its indestructible - are the javelins much more powerful than then AT34(?)s
  19. you twist and turn like a..................... twisty turny thingy........ do you then have a rough idea of the time between Nato release to CM:N release? extra rough?
  20. without expecting a date, and understanding you said the schedule of releases would be Afghanistan, Nato, CM:N, have you a rough idea of how far away from the NATO release you are - just to spot some 'coming over the horizon' like clues..... thanks
  21. im on it - i just want to finish my Al Hawl scenario - there appears to be an awful lot of tanks coming down the high street!

Thankyou to you and MeatEtr - so which ever expansion i get comes with all the update goodies, so then it does become simply a flavour decision - im a brit but enjoy the 'mystique' for want of a better phrase of the marines - okey dokey, coin flipping time, unless anyone wants to make a case for either? again, any help gratefully received
  23. Are the mods primarily flavour mods? - if i like brit troops should i get the brit module, and if i like the marines get them - or is there vast imoprovements in gameplay and if so which ones offers the better game enhancement? thanks for any help
