...choosing to buy the new CMSF 2 or any of the WW2 CM games. I already own black sea which is great but I am really into WW2 and reading alot of WW2 warfare books but CMSF 2 looks too awesome and I love modern warfare too. HELP ME!!

Some thoughts… CMSF1 was Great but CMSF2 is Awesome! Kudos to Battlefront and crew for bringing CMSF into Version 2.0 Game Engine 4.0. 👍 Feels like a new experience but with old friends. There is a healthy amount of old CMSF1 user made material available as well.

I prefer modern warfare more than WW2. Since you own CMBS (one of my top favorites) you may consider WW2 to experience the differences. WW2 CM games are tremendous fun but slower …  not as instantly lethal as Modern can be. WW2 CM are the most historically accurate games you can purchase. Test yourself in WW2 with authentic units and equipment and enjoy the results.

CMBN BIG BUNDLE = The largest WW2 game available with the largest selection of user made scenarios campaigns mods.

“I love bocage…reading a lot of WW2 warfare books”  = You should consider CMBN.

CMFI + Gustav Line BUNDLE = WW2 in a more open environment and mountains. Multi National forces makes for interesting mix of forces.

CMRT = Red Thunder was a delightful surprise for me. I began to better understand the non US perspective on WW2. Impressive Large Battles.

BFC’s description is accurate : “the hard fought Eastern Front battles of Bagration and Poland, from the swamps of Belarus to the gates of Warsaw during the summer of 1944. Experience the most balanced period of tactical warfare on the Eastern Front… most interesting ground combat of the entire war. ”

CMFB = Final Blitzkrieg is a beautiful game … graphically and in units and equipment. As MikeyD correctly noted, “ fall & winter Northern Europe is quite picturesque.”

BFC’s description is accurate :  “The Ardennes, France, Germany, and Holland from October 1944 through the end of January 1945. Painstakingly researched and highly detailed combat equipment for the United States Army, German Heer, Waffen-SS, and Fallschirmjäger, includes well over 100 types of vehicles and dozens of small arms and heavy weapons.”

My last Holiday comment based on the information you provided … Get the BIG WW2 enchilada” =CMBN BIG BUNDLE

All forces, battles, and campaigns found in CMBN Base Game

All forces, battles, and campaigns found in CMBN Commonwealth Forces Module

All forces, battles, and campaigns found in CMBN Market Garden Module

All new vehicles found in CMBN Vehicle Pack

All forces, battles, and campaign found in CMBN Battle Pack 1

    Hope this Helps you Ridaz.

You will not be disappointed with any WW2 Combat Mission but when you tally up ALL the game in this CMBN big bundle… you will be playing WW2 for a long long long time with many days of FUN ahead.

    Buzz "Happy Holidays"

Disclosure: My comments above are from playing the games for 16 years (even back in CMBO/BB/AK days). Think of game purchases with Battlefront as ‘investments’ in FUN & Happiness over years. Your initial game purchase is enhanced by the company’s commitment to maintaining and improving their products over years. Battlefront’s games won’t be abandoned next year. Access to user made scenarios, campaigns, mods, advice, etc. is an added value to their great products.

  2. CMSF 2 Upgrade "Big Bundle" ... Purchased, Download, Installed, Follow instructions to Activate and Get Some 😀

Thank you Battlefront, Steve, Charles and ALL those Elves who made CMSF 2 happen. You all hit the 🎯 10 ring again.

Gah! When I ever have enough money saved to buy a new machine, will you be able to give some more details on your setup, sounds amazing!

I always thought that the 'mobile' graphics cards in the MBP led to poor performance. Any chance of a YouTube video of how it looks?

No YouTube video but it does look #1 great on the 15-inch MacBook Pro - Retina Display with True Tone with P3 color gamut
    AMD Radeon Pro 560X GPU (4GB GGDR5).

Battlefront Combat Mission games look great on the Battlefront Combat Mission games. Retina Display: Default is 1680 X 1050 - “More Space” is 1920X1200. No problems. Games look great:)

The AMD Radeon Pro 560X GPU (4GB GGDR5) feeds the external 27” - DELL P2715Q Display - 3840 x 2160 without any problems. Both displays can be open but I often close the laptop.

I was kind of not expecting Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI cable to LG 55"LG OLED55B7A -55” to reach 3840 x 2160 … but it does … without any problems! No stuttering, flickering, etc.. I can even leave the Retina display open for other programs running. Audio along the HDMI cable to the Yamaha audio system … makes the games (and sound mods of full Battlefront Combat Mission games) so much nicer. (Thanks to all the Mod Lords for Battlefront)👍

I also thought the MBP graphics was going to be wimpy but I was wrong for Battlefront Combat Mission games.

My previous build was a first gen i7 (920 orso?) with a GTX 760 and 6GB ram. With that build the whole shadow 'flickered' when moving the camera around or sometimes even when it was still.

Previous Hackintosh had NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 4GB -3.9 GHz Intel i7-4770K - Windows 7 Pro. I was able to run all Battlefront Combat Mission games (own most all the CM titles) on DELL P2715Q Display - 3840 x 2160 with all the graphics setting set to best and never had any flickering issues. Unfortunately a ⚡️lightning ⚡️ strike killed the Hackintosh. No time to build another yet.

The new 2018 MacBookPro - macOSMojave - 2.9 GHz Intel Core i9 (6 Cores) - Radeon Pro 560X 4096 MB is able to run able to run all Battlefront Combat Mission games... including the CM Shock Force 2 DEMO... on DELL P2715Q Display - 3840 x 2160 with all the graphics setting set to best with no  flickering issues.

The real fun time treat is playing Battlefront Combat Mission games on the LG OLED55B7A -55” :D Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI cable to LG 55" & Yamaha audio system is the best gaming experience I have ever had. Only get to play this way when Ms. Buzz is out of the house because the house shakes when the battle is underway ;)

Wth the 2018 MacBookPro laptop and the  HUGE OLED 55"  .... no  flickering issues with Battlefront Combat Mission games including the CM Shock Force 2 DEMO👍

👏 Battlefront... Don't know what they are doing inside the engine improvements but whatever it is it is working for me.

Mortars can be fired quite quickly and are very high angle weapons, so after calling "Check Fire" there can be a fairly large number of rounds already in the air that have yet to impact. Time of flight can be up to 50 seconds or so depending on the range and the size of the mortar.

Real life example from the 82d Abn. As a FIST Chief we were calling mortars danger close, and the rounds were gradually walking back towards us. Called "Check Fire" and got the reply "Rounds Complete".  Which meant exactly as I described - 20 or so rounds still to impact. We fell back. What had happened was the mortar baseplates were grinding into soft ground causing the tubes to elevate slightly (and therefore bringing the rounds closer). The crew hadn't noticed the change, which was pretty slight - but with close rounds, it made a BIG difference to us up front.

Your Real Life example ... with 20 or so rounds still to impact is very sound reason to FALL BACK. 👍

You description regarding the game is what I experience as well....rounds already in the air that have yet to impact.

Glad to hear that. I am considering upgrading to Mojave and have a concern about my favorite games running okay on it.

You should be fine Michael. If you are up to date on CPU etc. You shouldn't have any issues.

I updated to Mojave a couple weeks ago and everything was fine. No wrinkles because of that during beta testing.

I guess you could ask 'Better compared to what?' It runs VASTLY better than the old CMSF1, that's for sure. It shares the same game engine as the other titles but CMSF2 maps generally lacks the heavy forested maps of other theaters, which helps framerate a lot. Plus limiting the building types to 'modular' allows large city maps to be built without over-straining the graphics card. Charles has very likely further enhanced general v4 performance, he's always tinkering. If he did it'll show up in the eventual across-the-titles v4 game engine patch.

In my experience ^ MikeyD has it spot on correct.

On Mac side... Running H2H comparison = CM Shock Force 2 Demo (2018)  is a much improved performance product vs. Mac CM Shock Force v1.32 (2012). Charles is always tinkering and whatever magic he has done shows on the Mac side... for me.

I am guessing (intel integrated video card) with the new install of the demo, your onboard Intel graphics card is now running the game.  If Nvidia, use the control panel and make a profile for the demo.

Don't have a Windows machine at hand to test right now but I suspect Blazing 88s has this correct.

Have installed the CMSF 2 Mac Demo on machine that run macOSMojave v10.14, macOSHigh Sierra v10.13.6, back to ElCap v10.11.6 and CMSF 2 Mac Demo runs without problem. CMSF 2 Mac Demo plays and looks great on them all.

Might be kinda fun to go back and play the CMSF1 Demo after to get a reminder of how much has changed over the years.

Looks Fantastic comparing to the original CMSF 1 👍 Excellent to get all the New Modern features in a Classic Battlefront game. Wow!

With so much material developed for the orginal CMSF1 I am certian when the new and vastly improved, CMSF 2 full game launches it will keep Combat Mission players entertained for a long time. Looking forward to fighting the huge number of Golden scenarios campaigns in the vastly improved CMSF2👍 .... A great addition for Morden Warfare gaming.

BTW: If you have not tried free demo of Combat Mission Black Sea... grab it as well and have fun. Tactical warfare at battalion and below scale in a true 3D environment has never been so much fun.... but now... with  CMSF2 "version 2.00" on the way... Jeeeezzzz Can't wait to hook these games up the the 55" OLED TV & Audio system to "Get Some:D" X 🚀 🚀 :D

Thanks! Very cool. I wasn't expecting it. Actually when I first saw the thread I thought it was somebody being a jerk and pulling a prank.

BTW, mods won't work in the demo (tried to change the explosion, fire, red cross and some sounds) and there is no 3D view for the map editor. You can plop down tiles but you can't look at them in game.

    Mord.

Thanks Mord... With the CMSF 2 full game launch I predict a flood of new modding will get underway... so much to look forward to.

    Thank You Battlefront👏👏👏

Yes, CMSF1 is our #2 best selling Base Game by direct sales unit count (with retail sales it is probably #1).  CMBN is solidly in the #1 slot for direct sales.  Obviously ;)  Even when we look at first 12 month sales only (apples to apples time comparison), CMSF1 is only slightly edged out into the #3 slot.  What edged it out?  CMRT.  As we expected, Eastern Front fans are more fanatical than most, therefore the game sold fast and furious before settling down.  Adjusted for time since release, Black Sea is our #3 best seller by unit count.

We've been very happy with the level of support shown for all our CM2 products.  Some pay for themselves a little bit better than others, but in the end it works out well for everybody.  I think we should put out T-shirts and bumper stickers that say "Have You Hugged a CMBN Player Today?" 😛

    Steve

CMSF2 Big Bundle will be very, very appreciated and purchased as soon as Discounted Upgrades for CMSF1 owners is listed.

    Great News!👍

Purchased Windows for BootCamp to play CMSF1 on the Mac > 10 years ago. Had so much fun with the game, all the great mods scenarios, etc. . As soon as the Mac CMSF1 Big Bundle was offered I purchased release day. What amazed me was how having ALL the services in the CMSF Big Bundle greatly enhanced the enjoyment and options of the game. So many possibilities with so many services, equipment, etc.. The CMSF2 Big Bundle is the way to go to have a New Modern Best Seller especially if you already own Black Sea (& Battle Pack)... New Modern Nirvana :D

    Buzz

PS: If the user created CMSF2 Scenario, Campaign, Mods development is anywhere close to CMSF1 ... CMSF2 will be battling for many years to come in CMSF2🏆

We'll hopefully be wrapping things up in January.  More news at that time.

It's all the original CMSF1 content (forces, art, scenarios, etc.) in the Engine 4 environment.  That means all Engine 4 game features, including QBs, are a part of CMSF2.  There's a lot of updating to the original CMSF1 stuff to make it work and look as it should, but we're not adding anything per se except the things which are fairly obvious (soldier models, QB maps, ground to air, on map mortars, bridges, water, etc.).

    Steve

That is a HUGE chunk of Fun Times. Big :D Face👍

Please re read this... and understand why nuclear proliferation limits are in place.... NOT... because "some states don't like what other states do with their people."
