  1. The password reset feature has been down for a few days. It's being worked on. If you submit a password reset and don't receive a reply, check your spam folder. If it's isn't there, create a ticket on the Help Desk and we can reset it manually for you.

I made a Ticket got a reply saying they were moving it forward. To the people that manually reset my password, but that was almost 2 hours ago. I also dont remember my helpDesk password lol I am assuming it is the same as the website password? If thats the case I think I am screwed lol

  2. Ok...hands up.... I have found Umlauts resignation thread and yeah I guess I did seem a tad harsh at the time.  I apologize for that Umlaut but I still think your reading of the context was wrong.  Id also like to point out that Umlaut is referring to instances which happened 7 years ago.... only a few years into my tenure as a website owner.  I'd like to think I have mellowed a lot and that the FGM is a far better place these days in relation to dealing with members concerns and the general wellbeing of the community.  To have total transparency on this affair I have included the link to the rather unflattering discussion from 2009.

I have only been apart of FGM for a week or so, but everyone seems very nice

  3. Ah no.  You have a misunderstanding of what free speech is - everyone is certainly allowed to create their own website and put forth what ever twaddle you like - that's free speech.  But to put forth whatever you like on someonelse's web site is not something you are entitled to do as free speech.  They might be happy to have those opinions on their web site, that is up to them and it would be up to the rest of us to decide if that was a comunity we want to be part of.  Sounds like @umlaut behaved like a grown up and decided to spend his time some where else.  That is a long way from trying to telling anyone else what their opinions should be.

I think perhaps it is you that might need a tougher skin.

I never said anything about free speech. I am sure some people think Custer was a hero just like some people think the Holocaust never happend. Now I didnt mean to offend all I was trying to say is the internet is full of offensive things try not to take it to seriously. No need to come out and attack me

  4. Stuff like (quoted from memory): "Obama is a commie bastard", "Custer was a hero (for killing native americans)" and skinhead videos proclaiming White Power. I protested that I didn't think statements like that belonged in that forum, the administrator told me not to interfere with other users' freedom of speech. So I left.

Well sounds like you are forcing your opinion on others. If you dont like what you see just ignore it.. This is the internet in this day in age if you plan on hanging around on internet communities you cant be so soft skinned.

  5. Would love to see noise discipline modeled. It is quite annoying in a number of ways to be playing a game in which the RL troops would do everything to be quiet, yet have to hear loud talking and orders going on. This would ideally tie back into spotting likelihood. Quality of noise discipline could well be tied to training, morale, fatigue, etc., with some sort of random event modeling of cough, sneeze, tripping and such. Naturally this needs flares, too!  Noise discipline would be especially important if anyone decided to model patrols or raids, especially night or in bad weather. Would very much like to see arm signals introduced generally in the game, though I know this would be a lot of work on the animation front.

Idk I wish there was some more talking in game its immersive..

  6. As a new player to the entire series, not having played any previous titles and coming from the same old RTS games you mentioned, this game is a breath of fresh air.  I love CMBN, blows everything else right outta the water.  I was a bit taken back by the price when I first started looking into these games, but now that I have seen what a community they have here, and what a really niche market the general RTS market is, the price kinda fits the product. Its a niche product in a niche market, what are the chances of that lol!  I probably should have bought the package but I was chomping at the bit to get into the action, so now I have CMBN and CW, and even tho I spent a little more than I should have because I plan on buying MG too...I don't feel that bad about the price because it looks like it is going to a good company that specializes in a very specific kind of game that really isn't any where else on the market in this level of attention to detail.  There is only one other game I know of that even comes close to this level of realism/simulation and that is the Achtung panzer series, but it just doesn't seem as in depth and as user friendly and to be honest, not as interesting, because it is only the eastern front, where as with the CM series you get a lot more theaters of war, including the eastern front.  And the gameplay is better, and I have to say after installing a few mods, which was really really easy, I think this even looks better...except I am still getting used to the whole edge of the map thing.  But when you are ground level at least the horizons look cool that way, not breaking the "immersion" until you go get a birds eye view which really breaks immersion by itself. But yea, no buyers remorse here lol, in fact I would urge you to get the package deal because you will probably kick yourself when you want the modules!

Since you are new to the series I highly recommend you drop the money on the engine upgrades they are a must.. Also for anyone new to the series I actually recommend buying Combat Mission: Shock Force as it is only $55.00 for base game and 3 modules. Plus the Shock Force has sooo much user made content

  7. ...and CMBS (Black Sea) simulates a Russian/Ukraine/US conflict in modern times.

Try the free demos. The games are improved (bugs squashed, expansions, etc.) when compared to the demos (which are limited on purpose). The learning curve is steep. Be ready to toss out rts behaviors as being inappropriate to battlefield success.

Yeah every now and then i still try to do things I would do in an RTS and it just doesnt work always ends with a burning tank or a whole squad KIA

  8. The fact that BF is taking its time to get CMFB "right" is a decision that we should be applauding.  "You only have one chance to make a good first impression."

BF has committed itself to making the best possible product and to not release a buggy product (I'm looking at you, Microsoft) or be a slave to some abstract date forced on them by distributers the way that CMSF was released.  For a small co like BF, one bad product and customer confidence could be lost.  They have to be "right" every time.  And quite correctly imo they are making sure that we will all be happy when CMFB is released.

Am quite happy to wait for an xnt product until hell freezes over and pigs fly (ie Spring).

Its not like they are making something entirely new they are making another later war World War II title with many of the same vehicles and weapons from CMBN so there isnt much room for error. If they were making an early war title I would agree, but honestly it looks like alot of things are just copied from other CM titles

  9. It is a hefty once time price, but with the potential of hundreds or even thousands of hours of gameplay, it is really a bargain. Also a title for which there is plenty of community made scenarios, campaigns and mods to make it look its absolute best. If you're into this kind of game, I'm sure you won't regret a purchase.

you should also try the demos (they are outdated engine wise though) as these games have almost nothing in common with RTS games and really arnt RTS games but wargames like Rocketman said. Combat Mission is one of the most detailed and realistic WWII games I have played and even though the price is a bit high I will most likely buy every game they make as there is nothing else like it

  10. There is no $90.00 dollar version. There is a $105.00 version which comes with Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy, Commonwealth expansion, Market Garden expansion, and 2 Engine upgrades. For 105 bucks thats not too bad.

I used to play Company of Heroes, Men of War, Sudden Strike, and Blitzkrieg, but after I found combat Mission I havent played any of those games. You should know though Combat Mission is not best played Real Time I tried to play real time when I first got into CM it was too hard.. To get the best experiance you really should play WeGo (turn based) which is great because you can rewind the action so you dont miss anything. Spending $105.00 on a game sound like a lot but when you think about it you are actually saving like 40 bucks buying the CMBN big bundle and its really like getting three games. If its too much for you I would look into getting the CMFI bundle

  11. i agree it is really ridiculous how long is this dragging on. and final blitzkrieg is equaly senssless.

Yep at this rate the current games out will never get all the modules released They have so much planned for this year and they are already off to a slow start. I think its safe to say only CMFB and the battle pack will be released this year. in 2015 the only thing they released was black sea and it was in Feb. and they were wanting CMFB to be out that summer if I remember right. I am just so tired of waiting for the battle pack and CMFB.. I am sure they are better and nicely polished, but this is just annoying

  12. Good lord folks.  How long after CM1 did we wait for CMBN?  I had two kids, 1 house. 1 condo, 5 cars, and 3 jobs while waiting for CMBN and they still did not include my favorite part (operations).  They will release it when it is ready and we will be happy with that.  It is not like there isn't 1000 hours of content you probably have not played with another release.  Go play a campaign.  I am 15 hours in to the first scenario of the main CM RT campaign and I have 50 minutes of game play to go and still need to touch the final 2 lines.  It can wait (at least until the next east coast major snow storm).

People are just excited myself included
