  1. Wow. Just wow!

One of the most gratifying aspects of making Combat Mission games is seeing what people can do beyond what we original conceived the game could handle. And I'm telling you... we never thought about a map of this size AND density! Fantastic.

I saw the Editor suggestions. Good thing is they are amongst the top few general requests we've seen over the years. I don't know when we'll get to making significant improvements to the Editor (probably on the road to Bulge), but for sure more AI Groups and customized names for them will be amongst the first changes we make.

    Steve

IMHO...I think one of the strongest aspects of your fantastic game is the editor. A strong editor in any game multiplies the variety and creativity of user made missions along with the long term playability of the game itself.

Any improvements in the editor(s), again IMHO...would come back 10 fold to you and your customers.

  2. Agreed. In my own experience, you must let the infantry or forward observers have time to scan, look around, search out enemy units. As Erwin has said, give it a few minutes. Think about it...in real life...if you came to a spot, would you expect to see enemy right away, the moment you started using your binoculars? Or, would if be more productive for you to hunker down, and observe areas for movement over time?

  3. LOL...well said Mord.:) I'm actually on the other side of this...I rarley play single player and have found most of my time in PBEM. It is not that I don't want to play single player, it is just haven't had the time with all the PBEM play. You find yourself thinking more carefully about moves when playing against another human.

We as a community, as PBEMers need to get some more organized tournaments going. IMHO of course.

  4. Yeah, I love having different nations to play with...I was probably one of the few people that thought the Hungarians and Romanians were really cool in CMBB. My brother is a USA! USA! dude when it comes to wargaming, but me...I dig it all. I find the obscure and exotic infantry and equipment as fascinating as the sexy, popular stuff. Plus it gives me a chance to learn which opens new doors of interest.

    Mord.

Dido on that. It is the same for me. I really loved playing CMBB and it was just a joy to play Romanians, Hungarians, Italians, Finnish forces. It gave me a good appreciation of the different TO&Es with respect to their strengths and weaknesses. It was interesting to say the least in trying to leverage those strengths in trying to win agains a more powerful Russian force.

In CMSF series, I really enjoy playing the Syrians and trying to utilize tactics in order to stem a Allied force victory. Most times I get my ass kicked but I have a great time and learn a thing or two as well.

  5. Got another question to add to this and please forgive the stupidity of it. Here goes...

When you guys talk of setting up and "exit after" command...lets say for order 3, does that mean that the time frame is based on total minutes from when scenario started or minutes counted from time unit reaches the order 3 zone?

In other words, if I have a 45 minute long scenario and I want to have the unit leave the order 3 zone for order 4 zone, do I set the "exit after" time in minutes based on the count from beginning of game or based on count from when the unit actually reaches order 3 zone? Do I make sense here...hell I'm confusing myself again.:D
