  1. I concur. I don't mind when people use "lol" on the internet. That's appropriate. However - It brings my piss to a boil when they say it in a real conversation. I'd rather have the courtesy "Heh...." with the additional awkward silence. But I will not linger on this one negative thing. Oh, and if CM:N is announced in october I will literally sweat blood looking at the new screenshots, while oscillating like a crackbaby in anticipation to pre-order.
  2. I agree. I always thought there was at least one AKS/AKSU in a tank. At least give us some pistol models! Oh, anyone noticed the Soviet DShK firing animation? It's just the HMG with a kneeling rifleman behind it, firing his imaginary AK.
  3. Weird thing is I haven't obsessed about the game. I'm just getting impatient now that NATO is almost out. And Panthers... and Shermans... dag nabbit!
  4. I really hope CM:N is ready for Christmas. The missus won't buy me any computer games, but I will buy it as a gift to myself. A few months back I had the sickest dream. I dreamt I was playing CM:N and it was so frickin' awesome...
  5. Frenchy, the PaK 97/38 was just that. French 75mm gun mated with the PaK38 carriage and shield. Hence the designation. Funny thing, I've seen one of those rare guns in use during modern times. (Kosovo in the '90s)
  6. Oh, I glanced at the picture again. Nah, those light textures are missing, brah.
  7. Concerning the black lights, according to my books the one blacked out light looks right. If you have the info on paper, look it up. Pretty darned close in my eyes. Might still be a bug, though.
  8. You sure it's not the PaK 97/38, Michael? Heck, it might be the 5cm PaK 38, but the barrel and muzzle break scream 75mm PaK 97/38 to me.
  9. I remember that I heard "weather effects" somewhere. Well, no biggie.
  10. I like to mess about in the editor and make hard scenarios. Sometimes I feel the need for some tactical brainteasers. Other times, I just want to use my M1 or T90 to blow stuff up. Limitless fun. But the QB system is broken.
  11. Mord, I remember the first time I tried the CMSF demo. It didn't blow my mind (it was modern, and back then I thought "yuck!"). Then, I tried the demo again last December. I started noticing the little things; MG crews flipping up the top cover when reloading, etc. THAT blew my mind. I got a four hour erection after buying the game and playing it for 10 minutes. The game is not hideous, but graphics could be a lot better. So could the gameplay. But we only have one CMx2. There are thousands of RTS games á la CoH out there. CMSF/CMA keeps me immersed enough to care about my troops, and lets me try out real life tactics.
  12. Well, that sucks. One can hope that CM:N will be epic, and the "wait till it's ready" thing worked out. But the fact is, and always will be, a game needs patches... I feel like I've been taken for a ride. "Weather effects, that's so rad!". Why announce a feature that won't be in the game? But really, it doesn't matter. I'll enjoy the game anyways. No gamebreaker. Thanks for clearing that one up.
  13. I also like the ToW-series, but after playing them since the first installment... no immersion. The infantry A.I is no better than CMSF, but in CMSF you can tell the A.I to do general things in the editor (I hate the ToW editor). But, if I wanted to play tanks vs. tanks, I'd play ToW. CMA is awesome, and I like the "analog" feel of everything. No GPS, no fancy doo-hickeys, etc. Graphics are bad, agreed. And I do not see that much difference between low and high settings (other than everything disappearing 20m infront of the camera). I wouldn't bet any money on CM:N being better in that respect. The graphics are outdated, and bad by late 2008 standards. I have a feeling that many of the CM-players have old computers. But that's a whole different can of worms.
  14. I've been messing around in the scenario editor since I got the game. The weather options are the same as in CMSF (Clear, hazy, thick haze, overcast). I'd like to have the option of rain. As far as I remember, weather effects were promised. Every other weather option is greyed out, and I've tried almost every combination of dd/mm/yy, time and ground conditions. Maybe if the planets were all aligned, and I had a really good day it'll work. Anyone know how?
  15. I have CM:A turned up on the high end of the settings, no problems for me. Even with hundreds of troops firing at each other. Only FPS drops come around when: 600+ infantry shooting all over the place, two batteries of heavy artillery firing (one airburst, one general munitions) AND two Hinds using their cannon. All these elements make for low FPS. Though, only until the Hinds go away. Stop moaning about the graphics, enjoy it for what it is.
  16. I sure hope it's not catastrophic! But I've encountered some problems that are new to me, like the snagging issue. This might just be in the demo, but I doubt it. I've been praising the hell out of 1C and BFC a long time, and I hope this isn't the "end of the line" for me as a customer. "A demo is just a demo" reminded me of the first CMSF one. As the keyboardjockeys say: OMG.
  17. Olympics. I'm not saying Norway is superior, but as a consumer I want quality. And for the price of TOW2, one would suspect a great product. In Norway we can't even grow decent potatoes, let alone produce games. We did make Age of Conan, although it's abandoned now. And we have lousy healthcare, we say we have "the best in the world", but that's only blowing steam. I've never said that this demo is more or less buggy than the TOW2 africa one, but one should think the AI querks were solved since the last title release. Just say if it's wrong to think that, and I will leave the issue alone.
  18. Well, there are many Russian products - good and bad. And after playing the demo alot, this one seemed like a bad one. But now I don't even care, because it's just a game I don't need. Regarding Russian products: Perhaps we do not share the same experiences? I might be somewhat xenophobic when it comes to Russia. And it is my right to feel that way, and anyone else can think that I'm crazy. It's their right to think what they want. I've offended no civil rights.
  19. Well, Sneaksie, I didn't say the nazis were innocent, but glorifying an evil regime which starved some 10 million people to death in the 30s is just as wrong. And I do not care if some random russian guy doesn't agree with me, nor do I cry about any defeat over nazi germany. And I was talking about the NORWEGIAN CIVILIAN POPULATION, not the Soviet civilians. When they took up arms against the german invaders, then became combatants. That is why they do not count. Many people feared the worst and fled into the mountains, and died. That is a stupid thing to do, but they did so of their own free will. If you feel I attacked your people, I did not mean to. But personal attacks are not OK. I can apologise to anyone that may be offended. BUT: If I've offended you, I am not sorry. I know you are Russian, and I don't care.
  20. 20 seconds approx. for me, but I have a good quad core and 8GB RAM..
  21. Well, my family didn't mind the germans. But when the Soviets made their way into Finnmark, the Germans used the tried-and-tested Soviet tactic of "Schorched Earth" - burning everything to the ground. My grandmothers house was burned, but she knew that the guys burning it didn't want to. They were her "neighbours" for almost 5 years. When the socialistic Arbeiderpartiet came back in 1945, they gave the people of Finnmark some old rotten planks and pieces of wood that no man would pay money for, and they built small shacks to live in with this lousy material. THEN they billed the people of Finnmark FULL MARKET PRICE for the wood. I do not want Norwegians to agree with me, but I know for a fact that Norway was better off than many other countries. Nobody died of starvation because we had Quisling. Those who died were those who fled up in the mountains by sheer Norwegian stupidity. Many modern communists deny the "human wave" tactic. Russian losses were enormous. Then the Soviets went into germany, what did they do? Rape, murder, looting, torture. Well after the war. Even G.Is did this (Jordbruen, "Helvete på Jord", the memoirs of a Norwegian soldier of the Waffen-SS). I am not saying germans didn't do it in russia, but the fact that people can openly support one evil over the other is absurd. Yeah, and the USSR had much, much more innocent blood on their hands. Ukraina, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, and the forced labour of the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s. Well, enough about this. This is not a thread about anything but TOW2. Panzer Elite? What game is that? Playstation? I'm not sure how they chose the tanks for this game, but something just screams "random".
  22. Well, the Germans tried never to leave a wounded comrade. That is not taking sides, but I can't claim to like the USSR. I will not go into greater detail, but I will say that no Norwegians died of hunger, maltreatment or "raping and pillaging"(those that died of hunger did so of their own free will, infact). The resistance fighters doesn't count. I have had Tigers in the demo, but that was a German mission, not the generator. But since this game ONLY focuses on the Grossdeutschland division, you will have vehicles available to them, not random Panzerjäger groups. That's a pity, since the germans in the game could be any division in the Wehrmacht. The uniforms don't look like anything other than generic Germans. When it comes to picking PzIIs, I'd rather not have them at all, so I'd allocate them to my "reserves". Better to have one tank less, than one more handicap. It'll just get KO'd, and I would lose valuable crew members.
  23. Well, I don't feel the need to browse through my library, since we agree. I won't say anything on the numbers you've posted, except the Ruskis did have alot more of everything (but not so much ethics, code of honour, etc., leaving fallen comrades was a standard Soviet tactic) than the germans. But since you added the 5th Guards, it's OK. Well, I've been puzzled about this game for some time. But, hey, it's TOW. If 1C feels the need to add thousands of Panzer IIs and pit them against KVs, let them. I'll make my own scenarios and omit them. As for Soviet uniforms, you are correct. They certainly look better than the German GD uniforms. The Germans look almost like a late Alpha versions with unfinished skin. No doubt - they will leave it that way.
  24. Well, if 1C can't do it themselves, I regret my preorder. When I buy clothes, I don't want to make them myself. I was hoping it wouldn't be a "half-way" product, but the demo has changed my opinion. First playing the russian demo in november, then the english now.. no change. It's the same buggy game(demo), but in english. I do not expect 1C to make claims that anything has been resolved, and as far as I know, they don't. Russian company, Russian product. I've had some really bad experiences with Russian games and products in my lifetime. But that's just my opinion.
