  1. Two problems; (1) did you install the ATI "white out" solution ??? http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=82561 (2) When you come to the scenario screen, "Alt-Tab" (or press the Windows key next to Alt) to drop you to desktop and then click the game in your toolbar to come back into the game and you should see the scenarios now. I have the same problem with all my ATI cards ever since the ATI 1900.
  2. You need to go here and add these ".bmp" to fix this problem since you have an ATI card like me. This is a standard problem with all ATI cards and CMx1. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=82561
  3. I upgraded to a new PC reciently and I now have the ATI 4890 video card. As a result, all my CMx1 games play fine now with a usual 50-60 FPS most of the time. The only problems that I have are the typical ATI AA .bmp fix and having to drop to desktop and come back in to see the scenarios at the scenario selection screen. After having to play all my CMx1 games on my old ATI X800 video card PC, these two small problems are nothing now and having the great FPS on large scenarios sure is nice. Looks like ATI finally solved all of the problems in their 4800 series of video cards that caused the CMx1 games to crawl along FPS wise in their 2900 and 3700 series of video cards.

  5. Do not think so, because I have all my setting exactly the same on all three cards too.
  6. I have on my newest PC, an ATI 3870 and it does not play well with any CMx1 game. The CMx1's only play well on my other two older PC's, the best on my ATI x800, second best on the ATI 1950. Basicaly the newer the ATI card, the worse CMx1 plays and since they all use the exact same ATI drivers, it unfortunately has to be in the hardware. This is why I went out on ebay and bought another AGP ATI x800 so I can continue playing CMx1 into the future if my current AGP ATI x800 ever gives up the ghost.
  7. If any of the ATI cards will use the newer ATI drivers (starting from Oct 07), you will get fog in the CMx games. AMD had ATI reinstute fog when the two companies merged in 2007.
  8. CMAK and CMBB play fine on Windows ME, if that is your concern. I know because one of my PC's is Windows ME and I have CMBO, CMBB and CMAK all playing great on that PC.
  9. Playing CM on my newer PC that has ATI 3870 Crossfire is torture. To really play the game with decent FPS, I use my old PC with a ATI X800XT PE (using the exact same drivers). As a result, I can only surmise that it is in the hardware (in relationship with the software).
  10. I have the game on both a ATI X800XE (XP) computer and a ATI 3780 (XP) computer. On the X800XE (XP) box all the CM series play fantasticly, but on the 3750 (XP) computer they barely play (if it does not crash). As a result, since the operating systems are the same and video drivers are the same too, I can only assume that it is in the video card itself that is causing the prolems. Before you convert to nVidia, see if the newer nVidia cards play the game too. I know on some of my other older games like European Air War, only ATI cards can still play it (all ATI cards) because nVidia dropped thier support for older versions of M$'s DX in their newer cards.
  11. Letting Application Decide means you turn off AA at the ATI screen, and let the program decide if it will use AA. If you set AA at 2X, the game still sees AA as being on. Secondly, no, the black box stays around the white letters (remember this is a work around from third party people, not the game developers)
  12. Paint back then did not match the paint specs of today. When reading about WW2 US Army vehicle paint, the article stated that it only lasted about 1.5 years before it needed repainting due to fading, chipping, etc. I suspect that the German paint was the same and it faded to a lighter grey after being in the field for any length of time.
  13. I just checked (9/17/2008 7:38 am) and it working now.
  14. The ATI text problem solution is located here: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=82561
  15. To quote Battlefront: "IMPORTANT PATCH VERSION NOTE * This v1.03 patch must be applied to a copy of the game that has ALREADY been patched to v1.02. It will not work on v1.0 or v1.01. Please review the "WHAT VERSION OF CMBB DO I HAVE" section below to see what game version you currently have installed." Did you patch your game to 1.02 first ???
  16. JanMasterson: Thank you and look forward to your CMBB scenario directory too. :-) Panama Red (Grew up in Panama years ago, just like I use to have red hair, but it's a bit thin up there now days). :-) :-) :-)
  17. Thank you. If you make it in .xls format too, then people can sort it a different way if they want to.
  18. I too can not link to this tool and it really looks interesting.
  19. I suspect that if you delete the current Combat Mission BB Prefs file and then start CMBB so it recreats a new Combat Mission BB Prefs file (then pick the resolution that you want). On my PC, it always started with the highest resolution and worked down, so you might have to move through several resolutions before you find one that you like. Just remember, if you do not like that one, blow away the Combat Mission BB Prefs file and start again.
  20. I use a program like FRAPS to check my FPS on all of my 3D games. This way you know if you need to "tweak" your system if you drop below an exceptable FPS limit (mine is 24 FPS which is what the normal eye can see). You can use FRAPS free if you do not want to make movies of any of the other fancy stuff that it can do.
  21. CoFarmer: The fix you applied is about as official as you can get concerning this problem. The reason that I posted it is that Battlefront currently has broken the link on their website that allowed you to download this "fix". What sort of FPS do you get playing a large or huge scenario using your new PC ???
  22. Here, this zip has all three CM games' ATI AA fix: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=82561
  23. Never ever dump and old PC if you plan on playing any of your older games (which is why I have all my old PCs clear back to my Commadore 64). All games are designed to play on certain OS's, video cards and drivers. The further you get away from the standard that the game was designed to, the more problems you have. You can always get a KVM switch like me and I can use any one of my current PCs using the same monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers.
  24. Zane: What I found is that CMBB or CMAK will not play nice on my newer ATI 3870 PC (using 7.12 drivers), but both work fantasticaly on my old ATI X800XT PE PC (using the same 7.12 drivers). On my middle ATI X1900 PC (using the same 7.12 drivers), I get at least 10 FPS less than on my X800XT PE PC, so apparently the newer the ATI card, the worse these two games play. If your "System Restore" works on you PC (on two of my XP PC's it works fine and on one XP PC it doesn't at all ???, go figure), you might set it for your current drivers then try the newer ATI 8.6 drivers. If you do not like the results, then you can always "roll back" to your current drivers with no harm done.
  25. The Sealion mod is located at CMMODS, but you have to put all the pieces together (terrain, scenarios, skins, etc). It took me an hour or so, but all the parts can be located. Some more of the scenarios can be located at The Proving Grounds and The Scenario Depot II.
