  1. This is a game, not real life. Out of curiosity do you support the butchering Peiper did to the Americans at Malmedy? I didn't say shoot every German prisoner, but considering what he ordered and helped carried out; I believe he deserves this as his fate. I would consider myself a pretty humane person, and I'm fine with 99.999999% of Germans who surrendered to the Americans, but people like Goering, Peiper, Himmler (British), Ribbentrop all deserved to (once positively identified) be shot 100 times over at least. I like Germans as people, but these last 3 names along with a few others deserved to die.
  2. Okay that's fine, but the strategy most players use is to attack the USSR first, and then get rid of these "minor pests" later on. Even with re-positioning your units and the conquest of these two countries should only take 7-8 turns tops, in less you're playing in slow motion? Also if you've developed production or industrial tech you whack a good chunk of the 400mpps for the corpses.
  3. Why would it take 10 turns? Yugoslavia should be destroyed in one turn, (totally annihilated) and from there when you position your troops and attack Greece it should only take a total of 3 maybe 4 turns. So I would see it as 4 to maybe 5 turns tops. So that cuts SU extra income to roughly 200. Note don't forget about partisan attacks, as that will throw that 32 mpps number way off if Athens is at a strength of 1 or 2.
  4. Any land or air unit that is destroyed needs a min supply of 5 in SC if you are going to reform it. Something I tried to explain to a few other forum members, but they simply refused to listen to the truth. If it has a supply of 5 or more when destroyed you can reform it (land+air units) at 60% cost and 50% production delay. If you don't believe me check reformation data in the editor.
  5. Glad to hear that Gunhawk. In no less then two weeks you'll be a pro and you'll be running circles around the AI, so don't worry if you lose a game here and there.
  6. The Poles weren't set up well, although they should of course last longer than one turn. Note it's a random chance on how units setup if they get attacked (DOW), so what this means is that sometimes they'll setup historically, sometimes they'll set up terribly, and other times they'll setup better than historically. All I can say is this is once again an example of whether we want a realistic WWII strategy game, or whether or not we want to create our own history. btw I have to apologize as I've never played Third Reich so I'm not a 100% sure on what your saying.
  7. 2. Okay you're talking about the most important unit in the game, and they are called HQ's. What they do is give defense and attack bonuses to units under their command, give supplies out, raise morale and readiness, and in general help determine who wins or losses a war.
  8. To be honest I don't think you can explain all the differences between the two. Bottom line though would be try the demos, get blown away, and then buy the games. WAW is also something you should consider buying, you can get it as a bundle and save a few bucks.
  9. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Don't even know where to begin. First off there are many more units, different scripts such as decision events, obviously different map, different combat target data, research, etc.
  10. 1. Amphibious transport (need to be within a tile of a port), or transport if you have captured a Normandy port (still need to be within a tile of a port) 2. Not sure what you're asking 3. Right click on the unit and select reinforce 4. Nope you already have a set amount of mpps, however those objectives decide whether or not you win, so take them. In major campaigns you will gain mpps at the end of every turn but not minor campaigns (that's one of the major differences between the two) 5. Depends on who controls them when it's the Allies its red, when it's the Axis its blue, pretty straightforward. 6. Just take a look at the manual. Hope this helps. btw buy the real game, I doubt you'll regret it.
  11. Arado, Poland is always a massacre, you should know that. So what exactly do want to change? Have the defender position his troops the way he wants them to be? Of course this is realistic, but the truth is most countries positioned their troops to stop smuggling, as at this time this was the #1 concern of neutral nations. I mean why would some maniac come and invade you're country right? Anyway in the end the defender always positioned his troops for a massacre, whether it is the Poles, Russians, or even the Americans at Pearl, and in fact the French did too, they however knew they were at war and had time to deploy their troops for war (they were truly incompetent).
  12. In more recent news I wish Obama would give the shoot to kill order on any pirates which open fire on any citizen, military official, military equipment, etc. I guess pirates just have no common sense, I mean who opens fire on a US helicopter with a rifle, and expects to meet a different fate then what the three three Somalia pirates brothers meet.
  13. Same, but when you play Wacht Am Rhein in CMAK, you really want to kill Peiper not take him prisoner, at least that's how I feel.
  14. laptop specs: XPS M1530 OS: Vista VC: nvidia 8600GTS SC: Sound Blaster Xtreme Audio HD: 250GB 7200 RPM Memory: 4GB Direct X 9 at least (I could upgrade easily though) The very first time I tried the demo it crashed, so I kind of thought it was an ominous sign, maybe it was just bad luck. Sorry for the delayed response borsook, I'm usually quicker.
  15. For those prisoners you just don't feel like taking, or the ones who surrender and then decide they don't want to, and they keep jumping back and forth. Mainly though it's for the barbarian better known as Joachim Peiper, who always surrenders before you get the chance to make his body look like Swiss cheese. I do know prisoners are worth more than enemy KIA soldiers. This wouldn't change the game really, but it would help add a bit more realism (maybe have it be one of the effects of fanaticism).
  16. I'm not 100% sure but I believe v 1.03 is going to be the last patch for PDE.
  17. I agree, and if anything the earlier the date the more the strength loss should be. The only problem is you would have to design about 5 or 6 scripts in order for this to work. If my knowledge of the strength script is correct, then it is impossible to make a single script which would cover every first year of the Axis offensive.
  18. True it definitely helps to knock England out, and that's why I said it's a critical blow, but the mortal blow is Russia. So what I'm saying is knocking England out will help guarantee a better chance in Russia, as long as you can safely move units to attack Russia, once you take the English mainland.
  19. Your more then welcome. I actually thought about getting TOW, but I'm not sure how well the game would work on my laptop. I do play CMAK and CMBB, and those are quite good too, don't even cost much.
  20. I disagree I believe if you knock the USSR out it's over, no matter what game you play SC1, SC2 and all expansions, and pretty much every other WWII war game out there. England although important doesn't represent the entire war by any means. In less you're talking about the small amount of time when England was alone in her fight against Germany. I mean honestly can you tell me one time when you honestly thought England was more important than either America or the USSR? In other words have you ever defeated Germany with just England? I would have to say chances are remote. One of Germany's problems (Japan's too but that's irrelevant here) was that she spread her troops thin, and the Allies came against them with everything they had, and surprise surprise the Allies win in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Western Germany, etc, and as these victories took place it weakened the German forces in the USSR and with our aide the Russians painstakingly eliminated these hordes from Eastern Europe and the Motherland.
  21. Yes it is a basic, but when you think about it, it's not war changing in any way, so even if there was something for it I don't think it would change the game. You could do it in two turns, prohibiting your enemy doesn't move any unit in the desired tile, or if you move both units you could make the one that was original on the left been on the right vice versa. Hope this helps in some way.
  22. Okay so you're invasion force for Egypt will at least have a chance to work, but how much time will it take you to take Alexandria? I mean you pretty much have to invade the USSR by mid 41 other wise you'll face serious setbacks, as the Russians really produce a ton of units, and they'll likely have quite a few fortified positions by then. After this what about the US, you know there going to come with everything they've got, and now you have to defend one more place and stretch you forces even thinner then what the Axis forces where stretched historically. What this does is to handicap the Axis forces, as they won't be able to attack any area with full force, because they have to have a few units to defend there conquests. This is of course if you don't want to just hand the Allies back England and other places. Because you could leave these areas undefended, but once there re-taken you're extremely unlikely to regain them again for the Axis decisive victory script. No Chesster, unfortunately you can't do this, but what you could do would be to move either unit A or B to a new tile, and then you could move the unit you didn't move to the position you moved either unit A or B, and vice versa. In short this is a big play on words, and I hope you understand what I just said.
  23. Whoops my bad, if you change your display options you'll see more threads. Battlefront automatically makes your display options set to the latest posts (20 days), and if there is none then you see a message saying just that, but you can still see the announcement threads. So what you should do WiCkd1, would be to change the display option "from date" to one year, and then you see quite a few posts.
  24. Redspyder I have great news for you! If you go over to the battlefront repository, you can download quite a few global mods which simply obliterate it's SC2 Blitzkrieg competitor. Of course most of these mods are meant for PDE, and PT, so you might seriously want to consider buying those games. Believe me if you like SC2 and WAW, you'll love PDE and PT, especially because of all the great free mods you could buy. However if you don't want to buy these games, then simply import the SC2 v 1.09 data to WAW, you might have a few problems and it might take a bit of time, but I think in the end it will work out. Note Mr. Carver's mods are quite good although I don't think he's made a global one.
