ok made my first version of the sound mod. it includes a background sound and voice files for british to japanese conversion. i did not change disembark and embark sounds plus arti and air support request is english as well. if you want to try it out here is the link
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66690360/sounds.zip
i will upload it to the repository when the japanese textures and faces are released
-
did not have time this week to work on the map but was watching letters from iwo jima and found a lot of material for a sound mod - i wrote down timestamps and when i have time i will record and cut the sounds with audacity
-
maybe they got the contract with the military and made a new modern combat mission with teamplay
-
angaur impressions:
my plan is to finish this map next week for playtesting and then i will add flavour objects, improve the visuals and work on the briefing
and here a link to the ambient background sound i will use:

In the terrain ground folder there's a piece of art called 'distant ground'. Its the ground terrrain that repeats-and-repeats out to the horizon.
thank you for the hint
now i only need to know where the water surface texture is saved
-
i want to add a question - i removed successfully the horizon with an alpha channel but is there a possibility to change the colour of the worldbox (the green one under the map)?
-
great work maybe the face texture needs some work
next thing would be japanese voices i guess
maybe letters from iwo jima would be a great source for voice samples
and here is a link about japanese army organization: http://www.bayonetstrength.150m.com/Japanese/japanese_army.htm

Instead of the regular British infantry, have you tried using the Airborne troops? Their tunics cover the hips, in a more Japanese cut. Also, a strap diagonally across the front appears to be fairly standard.
Just bought the cw module for this mod and i have to say, that there are way to much sten guns in the para squad - regular rifle matches better imo.
-
i am wondering if those who did not buy the cw module will be able to play with british paras in the mg module
-
you need another trench section put it next to it. the trench will change its dierction to match the other trench. afterwards you can place the 2nd trench section somewhere else
-
palm trees would be nice but they are not essential because as far as i experienced here in taiwan and in thailand they are only a minority. more important would be large shrubs for the undergrowth.
some mangroves would be great as well.
and if someone could make a coral rock and cliff texture i would take it
-
but there is no heavy platoon hq the section is under the company commander

top-secret:
the invasion of little angaur will begin in the next weeks
here are the first aerial reconnaissance pictures:
the bowl:
the phosphate plant:
and here the whole map:
-
the thread title says it is it an oversight that the pioneer section hq has no radio?
-
can anyone tell me the size of the british para squads in cmbn and the number of sections per squad?
-
as said by jons the bombers failed to crater the beach. the naval bombardement of omaha was aimed at the costal fortifications.
in terms of gameplay: it is up to you where you drop your opening barrage but i do not think that craters on the beach will make much difference because the main killers are not mgs but german artillery and mortars
-
i like the uniform, but i would prefer the tropical one in the colour of your first helmets
and is it possible to mod the (long)nose?
-
i am creating a mission where the allied player will get 20+ thunderbolds and made some tests with area target:
no spotting of units hidden in forest tiles and woods -
no spotting of units hidden in buildings
they will attack exposed allied infantry
they try to destroy bunkers but are not very successful doing so
they fly away way to early without expending their ammo and targets are still present - therefore it would be great, if we could choose the length of a mission
-
wow these helmets look even better - will you mod the uniform as well?
-
Here's a start on a japanese helmet.
great!!! - when finished i will definitely buy the cw addon

30 min film about Angaur. Good start with that map permanent!
thank you
great piece of propaganda and it helped me to figure out how the island looked like in 1944

Is that Iwo Jima?
no it is a small version of angaur
here you can find detailed informations - it was definitely not a fight one wants to simulate in cmbn:
http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-P-Approach/USA-P-Approach-21.html
The 2d Battalion gained 150 yards to the north and 250 to the west by 1000 hoursAt 0530 the Angaur Fire Support Group started its bombardment, employing for the most part slow, methodical area fire rather than shooting at specific targets. The fire was characterized by the 81st Division as being "very satisfactory,"11 and it accounted for about 40 percent of all naval shells thrown at Angaur from 12 through 17 September . The bombardment continued beyond the scheduled hourbut with the lack of jungle like undergrowth advance will be much faster i guess

i started this map long ago but i do not have time nor interest to finish it. elevations are done - hedgrows and foliage are almost done. (maybe you have to play around with high and low bocage plus the fields need gaps)
my biggest problem are the farms and houses - i put placeholders on the map but i am not creative enough to get them right.
so i put this map up for adoption!
here are some screenshots of the last version of the map
here is the map for download:

@coondog
i just found out that you replaced the sten with the bren. maybe it is not a bad idea but the stenbren uses 9mm ammo and i guess it is still a sten with a bren visual. so i for myself will remove this part of the mod because the japanase had a submachine gun looking similar to the sten - the type 100 submachine gun.
