  1. Patch delay is also probably a marketing tactic - they sell more CF modules that way. Not that I have anything against it - team deserves good income so that they can survive and produce brilliant games in the future.

this was the way they made me buy the brits module of cmsf but i don t regret it.

this time my enthusiasm is not that big due to the absence of new features in 1.10

i just want 1.10 to play the fgm operation overlord campaign

  2. Found this in the tech support forum - post was from 16.3.:

We are testing right now (also the new updated v1.10 free Demo with a new Commonwealth scenario). I'm thinking 7-14 days tops.

so i do not expect that the 1.10 patch will be released anytime soon. and there is no word about an 1.11 or 1.10b patch

  3. Patience, Young Jedi

It is still thursday in some parts of the world. my guess is that those who preordered are already downloading (in secret).

when cmbn was released i was living in europe and as far as i can remember i went to bed at 3 a.m. - one hour later the game was released.

so my guess is that they do not want that everyone will download at the same time.

but otherwise europe will wake up soon ....

  4. I would tend to give an answer like JonS and why not, say that it might also look like swampy grounds laying on the South East of Carentan. That is on the right of the road while leaving Carentan and driving toward Sainteny toward Periers.

best answer yet - one more hint: Götz von Berlichingen

  5. I've done a similar thing with a professional mapping software ArcGIS. I made a vector 8x8m grid for a full square km and then used 1947 imagery from this French site mentioned in another thread. I georectified the 1947 imagery using already rectified modern day imagery, then I overlay my square km grid anywhere I want to. I have been printing out the maps instead of using a second monitor. It works well but still is a slower method that heads up tracing.

I suppose I could print the map onto a transparent film and then tape it to my monitor but it would have to print exactly to one of the available zoom scales that CMBN uses and I wont be able pan.

dammit why did i forget this link! we really need a sticky threads with usefull links for mapmakers.

  6. Hi

I really enjoy your campaign. the beachlanding was really fun and i loved the small but intense third mission.

Now i was playing mission 4 - the airfield mission

    Spoilers_____________________________________________________________________

my plan was to use the m20 and one platoon of g company to intercept reinforcements coming from the south east as you mentioned in the briefing. i expected them to come over the bridge. so i scouted forward with the m20 and the platoon followed them in jeeps. in front of the small hill with the "dense" forest i stopped and dismounted while my m20 directed artillery fire on the airfield. my infantry advanced into the forest. then the bluebar was really slow and i knew that their reinforcements will arrive. i thought hmm i am too late for an ambush. but when the replay phase started the german reinforcements spawned all over my infantry in the woods and annihilated them. this experience was a bit disappointing and i quitted.

maybe you should at least seal of the forest by placing some units in there or spawn the troops further south.

  7. about 11 years ago my first ww2 strategygame was sudden strike. the best thing about it was multiplayer. i really enjoyed the dynamic gameplay where capturing zeppelins triggered new reinforcements.

i hope this kind of multiplayer could be introduced in combat mission games. while not that realistic it was fun to play, because you had to attack and defend at the same time.

what do you think about it?

  8. Players can avoid them all they want, until the buildings are part of the objective.

Personnally I have learned to deal with it.

I play now by keeping my units behind the building, if prone, they are pretty safe. Cannot see anything but I use other units for that.

If I am the attacker, I will enter the bldg. once I have firepower supremacy.

If on defence, they remain behind the bldg to ambush the enemy when they enter. In this case, the guys outside of the bldg seem to have the advantage normally. I agree, for arty, they seem to do ok as long as not to many rounds are direct hits.

Troops behind buildings was a common tactic in "close combat". I tried this in cmsf with no success. Does it really work in cmbn?
