  1. Hi, When you are choosing mines, they appear during the set up sequence in one of the corner of the map, like the troops and the vehicles. If you moved them where you wanted them to be buried and save that in the editor, you should normally have them at that emplacement when you try to play the game or look at it through the editor. Besides these, I don't see what could have happen wrongly. Cheers
  2. Hi Hcrof, I shall gladly put back the white sheet ! As, I said earlier at the time of the first firefights, I would have attacked with all the armor by passing Hillfarm under a smoke screen and established an all around defense at the bridge to disorganize its defense setup. Then with the following BMP's and troops I would have rammed into its rear on either side, taking its defense by the rear toward the Hillfarm and the south Farm. As, you found it out yourself, the best plan (on the chart) go down. If Napoleon, though on a well know battle that its cavalry was coming, instead it was the opponent and he lost the battle, we don't have to feel bad. After all not everybody can be a tactical genius like him P.S : Liddell hart was the English counterpart of the German Guderian (called the father of the panzers units in WW2). However Guderian was mostly influenced by its reading on the doctrinal use of panzers made by Fuller and in a lesser part by the ones written by De Gaulle John has already answered about the tactic used by Liddell Hart. Break through in mass and go right and left and straight forward, looking for the rear defenses and ramming the units in order to create chaos and disorganization.
  3. Hi HCROF, I have a white sheet that I could let you have at low price. Might be useful for surrendering ! More seriously, I wonder what I could have done to beat Mike and I don't have that many answers to my interrogations. The ground was on its side and besides a mass attack at the right point at the beginning (For that you would have had to be sure to know where he was massing its forces) the attackers were defeated time after time, since they used too few forces and moved too slowly, without sufficient artillery assets. That is the way I saw the battle from the reports. Assuming, I got them right, which I am not certain; Let's call that Fog of war. Took a lot of leasure reading the battle and I am a bit sad to see it finished. It would be interesting to know what Mike wrote if he did it about the turns fought. Cheers
  4. Sure enough, modders will bring us all the authentic details that might be needed to give a great accuracy to the game. For my part I still think that the best accuracies we get into the armaments systems being covered in the game, the best the AI algorithm will benefit of it. That way, the playability of the game will be close to what the Military are doing in their wargames. Today we can design a landscape nearly close to a real Operation Area, place on it Red forces and try different attack and or defense layouts. That is already done with the Air Force. You can fly your way into a target and rehearse the best ingress and outgress waypoints depending of the threats, you might encounter. Again the details taken in account are the parameters and not the details of the uniforms. That is war and we could say that we don't do any details in a fight. However, I recon that to look at the details is pleasant and give a far better look to the game, reinforcing that way its credibility, but not necesseraly its AI ability for the wargaming player. But, you should not end with an ARMA or ARMA 2, were the look is pleasant, but the AI stays far below what BF can bring us. Yet some armies are using it (modified needless to say)for training their troops in MOUT. To end it. Good tiles, an excellent AI and great modds, what else do we need. Maybe an opponent to remind us that we are not the great tactician we think we are. Cheers
  5. Sorry Cabal, I had overlooked your post. You might have had already the answer. In case you did not, the AAR file should be extracted into the scenario folder (not the bake file folder) despites its bake file extension. The scenario has been made with the basic CMSF + the Marines addon + 1.21 patch That's it Cheers
  6. Ok guys, some of us might be really expert in Russian uniforms, but do you really think that the way they are dressed in detail as well as the number of stripes of the shoulders straps make a huge difference in the battle algorithm process of the game. More, I only look closely at the uniforms when viewing shots being made during a battle. For e.g , If the guy doesn't have the right folding spade hanging from its gear, I shall see it but will be forgiven if the AI works fine. As long as the overall details are good on uniforms, I don't give too much attention to the details. However, if B.F partner can offer us these details I will not tell them to get rid of them. Cheers
  7. Hi Hcroft, Remembering the map and the planned assault toward the bridge bypassing the Hillfarm, which I sent you earlier, I am wondering what could have gone wrong with it. It certainly would have provided its lot of surprises and you could have ended worst than what you are getting right now. There is a saying overhere : "The advisers are not the one paying the bill." "les conseillers ne sont pas les payeurs" Do what you feel is right and keep on providing your excellent AAR. Just a request : Reading it, I sometimes get mixed up about the troops side ! Could you identify them a bit better, since the very good shots are showing similar troops, tanks and tracks. Cheers
  8. That is a release, that will provide new ways to design scenarios. Snow, water and the adequate vegetation tiles are what we were missing lately to do more realistic landscape. The Russian materials and uniforms are great to look at. Can't wait to have one and do some scenarios of convoys attack in treacherous winding mountain roads. Like that was seen in many news reel of the time. Questions :Are they going to implement anti aircraft firing (by the A.I only) and why not, helicopters putting troops on LZ. I think however, that it might be out of the CM motor feasibility ? Anyway, that will be great to have it; Thumb Up
  9. All of these comments are right, because they are common sense. These could be added, too: If you expect to get through a combat zone without a scratch, that is not common sense. That makes you behave wrongly and be careless. Don’t assume that all the gears you have, will work perfectly at the right moment. They won’t some time and then the Murphy’s law will come along Use your brain and only then your gears If you assume that you can get rid of an enemy asset and or kill him, think first that he has the same though on mind. The smarter of the two, will be the winner or it will be a draw. Think about the worst things that could happen and think about an alternative. That way, you won’t be surprised. That is, what they call Situation Awareness. Cheers
  10. Hi, As a matter of fact "A crossroad Hamlet Assault" has been the first scenario I have made before having the MARINES release. It works fine on both of my computers. I had first CMSF base game installed, then latter the MARINES add on and the patches have been installed up to V 1.21. I never had any problems opening and running it. I am really sorry, not being able to help you on that issue, not understanding what is going wrong and why. Cheers anyway
  11. Sorry for answering only today. I have been out of reach for the last 20 days. BLACKMORIA About your AI question : There are only, one AI plan. There are not many alternatives to attack the compound, that explain why. Thanks for playing and enjoying it. Like your proposal for the next "nightmare". I shall try to make it in the coming weeks, if I can afford some spare time. Thanks to all of you. By the way , do you think that the initial setting being made with a bake file is worth it. Will you rather prefer to move the troops as you like from the road to the compound ? Cheers
  12. Hi, every one, The bake file has just been uploaded. You will be able to download it soon. Hope you will like it. Cheers
  13. Hi, Blackmoria, How are you doing? The file wil be uploaded in the next hours or so, since I am leaving tomorrow. Cheers
  14. Last 7 shots can be seen today, in the "Defend Jsir Al doreaa -tactical Scenario - " thread Cheers
  15. Here are the last shots before the uploading today of Jsir Al Doreea 1st dream. There after is an advice about the loading: Warning - Defend Jsir Al Doreaa 1st dream -.This is a baked file (btb extension). move it into your scenario repertory as you would with a normal file (btt extension). When you start the scenario the Humvee’s and IFV’s will move toward the COP and stop there. From there, you will be able to play. To be only played Blue against red A.I with CMSF - USMC Module V 1.21 My thanks to BLACKCAT for its test and all relevant information as seen from the player’s side
  16. Aloko Mac, That is all we can all hope from Battle Front. By the way, if you are stuck with the campaign, you can play the stand alone of its battles. just pray that the saving bug won't do the same. Thanks for your kudos about the campaign. Cheers
  17. That's too bad for the campaign Aloko Mac. The Vulture had that bug on the 1st battle once. As for myself I never had it with the numerous testing, I have done. As a matter of fact the only time , I have had that memory bug, was with Second Storm of Paper Tiger. I had it only once as reported on that post. I still think that it has something related with the patch 1.21. I never had any such problem before, despite saving huge scenarios. If Battlefront can find an issue on that problem, that would be good for every one. Cheers P.S: If you are running with Vista, 6GB RAM won't be better.I t doesn't take memory in account after 4GB, if I am not mistaken. What counts is your graphic card memory
  18. You're MikeyD. I have provided 3 such trucks to the Marines in El Derjine Campaign "Al Hillah Battle" and its Stand alone. That makes a lot of ammo for the guys, the Smaw and Javelin's teams. But, unfortunatelly, the trucks have to be near the fight to be reached quickly. Therefore, it is not always easy to have them out of the enemy LOS. When they are hit it makes a nice explosion and to make it worse that happens, when your guys are in it getting ammo or near it. Looks like these trucks are in high demand as a shooting target by the enemy. Too bad we can't unload their stock and get them out of harms way. A guy resupplying from a crate is somehow less expose than getting into a truck. Is it worth to implement such possibility ? Cheers all of you and Merry Xmas
  19. Thanks for your praise THE VULTURE. However, I really think that you are the one deserving it. During all the time of the AAR posting, I have been awaiting impatiently the moment when I would follow your progression. Your reports and shots were top. You really sent me a fantastic Xmas gift doing that AAR. That is the top most kudos that can be made to a scenario designer. As for the campaign, you are right, there is no need to get back to that infamous Radar Station, since you did its AAR already. Maybe, I should have done another battle, rather that have the player going back in a preceding battle. The pleasure to have the AAR go for another battle won’t happen. That is life! Anyway you did well in the fight and if you want one day to try it in TCP/IP Real Time and or PBME, I am OK for playing against you. Don’t mind to be Red and or Blue and to know the scenario. Merry Xmas to you and your family The VULTURE. Greg KELLER – Snake –Eye -
  20. Thanks to all of you having sent me an Email in order to get the 1st dream scenario. It is undergoing its final testing with the help of "Blackcat". I hope it will be released in the coming days depending on Xmas time being left to finalize it. Cheers to all of you
  21. Hi Blackcat, I am still making adjustments about the Red, I shall send you Beta 2 probably this morning, after ready your report. But, there are few things to check again. I shall S2 you in my Email. Real S2 stuff no kidding! Cheers
  22. Hi The Vulture About Midoum Radar Station That radar station, which is a strategic objective, is a pain in the A...But since it is offering a perfect overwatch on the valley toward Sidi Brahim and Midoum. It has to be taken at all cost, since you can bear Artillery, Chopters and Aircrafts with the FO, landing with the Plt. (However, you have to let him out of harm way , during the assault) .That does not mean, that you have to get all your grunts shot to piece. There is or are ways to take that radar station without too much casualties. That you learn after few saving played again differently. But, I recognize, The Vulture doing it straight is not so easy and I did not do better in my testing trials. Be careful with your home computer The Vulture, with the intense Red attack you just had, it might have its video card hang up. That I am sure will make us have a bad Week End without any AAR news ! We are praying for your computer. Cheers
  23. Hi Blackcat, here is my Email : Snake.eye@club-internet.fr Let me know on it your Email. I shall then, send you the WIP copy this afternoon at the latest. Cheers
  24. Hi BLACKCAT, I was just pulling your leg. Thanks for your praise. Needless to say, the fact that you follow so closely, the very well written and illustrated AAR of THE VULTURE, was recognition by itself. I did not know, before reading “Defend Jsir Al Doreaa” that“Duffer’s Drifts” was so well known. You are right about the S2 and like earl Wavell said, he should go to administrative work. Since you know the book, will you be please to play test the 1st dream ? Your insight of the book should be an asset. Cheers
