Im sorry Steve, but there ARE HUGE problems with the pathfinding in .04.
I have a scenario im working on with a heavily built up urban area, many buildings backed on to each other and MANY multi part buildings with walls and doors seperating the parts of the larger building. When i order my troops to move between the buildings its a JOKE.
My guys will run around the row of houses and come in from the other side even when there is a door on thier side.
When ordered to move from one room of a building to another they will either move to the roof and cross over then move down to the room or again they will exit, run round and re-enter at the other side.
The tight terrain also seems to be a catalist for the splitt squad bug, with squads ending thier move irreversably splitt into two teams.
And finaly, there is also a bug that means i have to give my men a midway waypoint in the street to get them to cross to the other side because when i give a straight order from one building to another the troops will think about it for 10-15 seconds and then cancell the order for no apparent reason.
I have the scenario if you would like to check it out and the problems show with EVERY PLAY. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me there are going to be pathfinding fix's in 1.05!!

I love how people keep coming on the forum and dropping hints that the patch will be ready soon, then sure enough, weeks later and nothing.
Wheres the bloody patch BFC!
-
So, are we going to get arty smoke in the new patch?
-
The optics would by no means give them clear sight, but i still think the advantage should go to the teched up M1.
Also if visability is down to 20 meteres or so, the Syrians could drive right by with out seeing anything with thier eyes.

Never seen that, sounds bloody awesome tho!
I hcertainly have seen WAY to many normal failures, with the missile just flying off into the distance.

Just as a further point, any fire mission called in using Emergency will move straight to the fire mission with no adjusting rounds, hence, will rarely land on target.

ERRRR Royal Marine (English) is a Green Beret!!!

You must have only looked at this thread, try looking at others!Originally posted by igor:well, they can ban my ass anytime they want.
the emperor has no clothes.
and still, curiously, not a word, a clue, a hint on the elusive 1.05, the magical patch that will fix all and bring us world peace to boot.
sorry, but calling out your customers because they're unsatisfied with being beta testers after paying $50 for the privilege is absurd.

The Only monkey song i know goes as follows....
"Down in deepest jungle where the army's never been, you'll find a dead monkey being shagged by a Royal Marine"
Any Green Beret's out there please forgive me for airing a Para song on these boards.

Good to have you back

Wood u crack me up

LOL, its not them in my base, i planted mine fields and thier engineers cant mark a path through.
The guys doing the killing are MY troops! Unsure as to wether they have spotted the enemy they are just shooting everything (read nothing)

I think so far we have all (ok most) been perfectly reasonable with regards all the problems, but as of two days ago its been two months since the last patch.
I think now would be a good time for an "Official Statement" about the latest patch and, more importantly, when we might be getting it.
Im running out of sence of humour about this!
BFC, if your even reading this, give us some bloody info!!!
-
I just hope that what ever deal BFC made with paradox gave them back the abilty to "go it alone" for the next games!
-
Because WE shouldnt be making THEIR game for them.
I know its been said before (a million times) but BFC should be the people putting this in the game, and IMO i reckon thats why the new patch is taking so long.

Ok, i use a saitek x52, its got no force feedback but i dont even miss it. The joystick is fully loaded with functions, it feels solid to fly with and it even has a clock!

.....but first MarkEzra must be slapped for not playing along.......

.....everybody here couldnt wait any longer for the.....

Totaly off topic but have you tried Falcon 4.0, its not carrier based but it is HARDCORE!

What we needed (in my humble opinion) was something in the middle of old and new. The exact system that was used for selecting QB's in CMx1 with no random maps providing you could pick a named map to play on.

Thats why i chose the words "constructive questions" very carefully.
I certainly dont think BFC should be answering every and all posts, but i do think when someone genuinly wants to know "How much abstraction is in the cover system" that that is something that BFC should see to being answered!
Opinions of 1.05?

Im realy impressed with the path finding of the troops, its almost intelligent, with the (very) occasional soldier who cant tell his arse from his elbow (which is great for laughs when one guy goes rambo)
Im still getting issues when trying to send squads from one building to another when the buildings are close together, i have a save of this in progress if anyone from BFC wants to look at it.
And to end on a possative, how cool is it to have your guys toe to toe with the bad's during MOUT ops.
I had a 6 man team get pinned down rushing in a building, after a minute of fire ive lost three guys and the squad is pinned, but as the tangos reload the squad rallies and dish's out payback M4 stylee
Ive said it once and ill say it again........ This game gives me wood
