  1. challenge here is to have a harddrive big enough for 383gigs
  2. Is it just me or is there no scroll bars in the Unit List in the Mission Editor? i.e. if you have more than one page worth of Activated Troops, you cant see those which didnt make it onto the first page. Bizzare  [ February 02, 2008, 07:57 PM: Message edited by: The Louch ]
  3. Since the hot keys are programmable is this really a issue? </font>
  4. Well, let me start off on a good note, for what it’s worth – so far I think the game is simply amazing, with out a doubt this is a huge leap forward for the CM series. Graphics and animations are stunning, and even though it’s a little silly that 90% of the sound effects seem to have been reused from CMAK it really brought a tear to my eye. That said, a few things do seem very out of place on this gem… Hotkeys... holy mother of all that is sacred! I’m really sorry to say it, but whoever thought that a hotkey system where by not having the right tab selected can lead to ordering a tank to *bail out* (hotkey K, under S tab), instead of *hunting* (hotkey K, under M tab) should be drawn and quartered! Yes, I’m fully aware of the “G-H-B-N” keys, but those hardly cut it. I do understand the need for the 4-tabs of buttons design, and I actually think that part of it is very well done... but there was no need to over-complicate the hotkey setup... or am I the only person who played CMBB/CMAK relying on nothing but hotkeys? Quick battles… why ohh why, can’t we purchase our own units? 80% of the fun of CMBB/CMAK for me was playing QBs vs my co-workers and seeing what kind of goofy unit selection they can come up with. I’m even willing to settle for not even being able to pick the *exact* units – just let there be a better way to tell the computer which units to pick… something along the lines of being able to pick 4 or 5 unit “classes” that you’d like to see in your force – “Poor Armor, Advanced ATGM, VBIED, etc”. As it stands right now it’s practically impossible to see a Syrian force of T-72s along side with IEDs and Spys… as a matter of fact after re-running the QB about 2 dozen times I haven’t seen the computer buy a single IED or mine. We-Go TCP/IP … I saw Steve’s post about it – I’m not even going to try to argue this one, but let me just say that I can easily upload 15megs in under a min and I’m on a regular “consumer level” internet connection… so yeah, I’m just hitting my head against the wall here... quite literally
  5. should've just downloaded it from Torrents 3 weeks ago like the rest of us did
  6. Ohh man, all this uncertainty only equals wasted battlefront.com bandwidth which could’ve been much better utilized for the downloads... *sets up an auto-refresh script on a 50ms timer*
  7. While true, that’s not the point - by the same logic they shouldn’t have even bothered with 3D graphics, the entire battle can be represented and coordinated in a text-only format ... "The Oregon Trail" comes to mind here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oregon_Trail_%28computer_game%29)
  8. Yeah, lack of tool-tips is in fact shocking... last time I saw a proper product with out tool-tips was when 640x480 was considered "high-res". The rest of the review I wouldn’t pay much attention to – judging by complete and utter lack of any sort of understanding, and hence true interest, of modern combat Tom must’ve been expecting “Combat Mission: Battlefield 2042” and was left rightfully bitter and disappointed. Just the fact that he had to look up what a HEAT round was, in my mind pretty much nullified whatever he had to say about the game, performance issued aside.
  9. Call me paranoid, but the “Animations, sounds and graphics are not final in this version” disclaimer for a video released 96 hours before launch do no instill confidence in me...
  10. I was under the impression that the trees and all vegetation where still being abstracted like they were in CMx1, effecting LOF and LOS only as an area-effect modifier. Is this not the case?
  11. So, what you're saying is that we'll see the return of the "classical" Operations in the next WWII CMx2 title? SWEET
  12. Is the game online download/purchase only or will it be available in retail stores as well? And if so, how realistic is it to expect to see shelf-fulls of CMSF copies on the 27th - specifically in Ontario, if that makes any difference?
