  1. I'm having a difficult time with "A Desperate Defense" also. I've come close once, but haven't been successful yet. I'm playing on the "veteran" level, and it certainly feels that way. Even when I lose, I thoroughly enjoy playing ToW. Kudos again, 1C and Battlefront!
  2. I'm still getting familiar with the editor and trying to wrap my head around some of its features. It does look to be a powerful tool in the hands of a knowledgeable user.
  3. Very playable frame rates. I was pleasantly surprised at just how smooth and well ToW runs. [ April 25, 2007, 08:08 AM: Message edited by: flintlock ]
  4. Theatre of War is indeed a fantastic title. ToW is a whole different animal from the CM series, period. ToW and the CM series are both excellent, with their respective strengths, weaknesses and advantages over one another. If you purchase ToW expecting it to be CM with updated graphics, you'll likely be disappointed. I enjoy both.
  5. IrfanView is a very popular free viewer. The site, which seems to be down at the moment, is irfanview.com. Though if you're interested, you can get additional information on it here or here, or just Google it.
  6. It makes it all the more satisfying when you do win. I've lost many more than I've won, but thoroughly enjoying the battles, win or lose.
  7. Hi CoCo, thanks for the compliment. Yes, I do have grass set to very thick. With respect to a brief freeze after taking a screenshot; luckily I don't experience that phenomenon. Sometimes I'll click F12 in quick succession to increase my chance of getting a decent action shot, and even then there is absolutely no discernable pause. Unfortunately I don't think you're able to hide that pause message like you can other parts of the interface (it would be nice though). Cheers, flintlock
  8. Normally I do, yes. As I'm scanning the battlefield, if I see a scene unfolding that I think may make a decent screenshot, I'll quickly take it. During some heated battles though, my screenshot folder is often empty at the end.
  9. You have to force AA/AF via your video drivers as there is no setting for this within the game. Insofar as the dissolving trees are concerned; you're unable to turn this off as it seems to simply be the way the engine deals with this aspect of destructible terrain. I imagine this was a design decision born of necessity. Otherwise there is a potential for system resources being significantly taxed as the game struggles to keep track of all the fallen trees during a long battle, while keeping performance at an acceptable level. Just my suspicion anyway.
  10. Nice screens fellas! Let's keep 'em coming.
