  1. All is well then. Thank you for the reply, BDHX.
  2. Now that you mention it, dmg, I've never noticed the intro movie play. When I launch ToW, it goes directly to the main menu screen (I haven't changed anything myself).
  3. For those that have finished any of the campaigns: once a campaign is completed, do you see its battles listed among the the seven stock solo battles (accessed via the "Battles" menu), or do you still access them via the "Campaign" menu? I've completed the Polish campaign, though I ran into a somewhat quirky finale, so I'm unsure if what I'm seeing is the norm. I access the individual battles from that campaign from the campaign menu, though I believe I read something to the contrary earlier. [ April 27, 2007, 11:18 PM: Message edited by: flintlock ]
  4. The only way you'd get my copy away from me, is by prying it free from my cold dead fingers!
  5. @Colin: that is some very nice art on your site. Very talented. [ April 27, 2007, 07:26 PM: Message edited by: flintlock ]
  6. Hard to go wrong with these graphics.
  7. I agree with the OP, it would be helpful to have strategy and tactics in one place. [ April 27, 2007, 03:24 PM: Message edited by: flintlock ]
  8. So playing on veteran level, I finally was able to hold back the German onslaught. I came into this battle with just 15 points to spare, so I had to get creative with my units. *** possible spoilers below *** </font> Default assets at my disposal - Squad (x2) (incl. 1x ATR) - 7TP (x2) - TKS MG (x2) - Bofors wz36 (x2)</font> With the above units, I was unable to hold back the German advance, never mind mount any form of counterattack (even considering my reinforcements). So with a mere 15 points to spare, I got rid of the two Bofors, one TKS MG and one 7TP light tank. With the extra points, I exchanged all that for two 75mm AT guns. </font> Updated assets - Squad (x2) (incl. 1x ATR) - 7TP (x1) - TKS MG (x1) - 75mm FGWz.1897 (x2)</font> I placed my most skilled and experienced men into the battle, substituting where feasible. The plan was to see if I could stave off the initial attack from the south without calling for mortar support, long enough for the reinforcements to arrive. I wanted to have all three mortar strikes available for the final German push from the west. It was critical that I kept the German infantry attacking from the south at bay, as my two AT gun crews would be exposed. To that end, I had the squads in the trenches hold position and placed the TKS MG to the SW behind some brush. The TKS didn't get to fire off a shot before being destroyed, but I still managed to successfully hold against the initial waves from the south. Once the attack from the south petered out and the push from the west started in earnest, I brought all remaining assets to bear. Luckily I still had both AT guns, and more importantly their qualified crews, available for defense. Once the dust settled, I had managed to pull off a decisive victory. Results: </font> Polish Casualties: 6 men 3 tanks</font></font> German Casualties: 92 men 14 tanks</font> In all, a very enjoyable battle! Note: If anyone would like, I can post a screenshot of my unit setup at the start of this battle. [ April 27, 2007, 02:55 PM: Message edited by: flintlock ]
  9. Only three, huh? Well then, that explains why I wasn't taken to a fourth! [insert blushing face emoticon here] Thanks for the quick reply, Madmatt.
  10. Polish Campaign, third battle "A Desperate Defense." After winning this battle on the veteran level, I awarded my troops medals/experience, and when I clicked "next," I received a blank page. I checked the Polish Campaign battles, and still only see three battles. I exited the game, relaunched ToW, but no fourth battle shows up in the Polish Campaign. At the menu screen, when I click "continue," I receive a blank page (and a loading screen with no battle name). Perhaps this is a known bug, not sure. Any suggestions as to how to resolve this? I have no saves, and this was not loaded from a save.

  12. To the OP, see this thread.
  13. There's a new review of Theatre of War, on TTGamer. You may access the review by clicking here. Excerpt: I must be that "right type" of gamer, as I'm thoroughly enjoying ToW.
  14. Okay, so perhaps the Sherman will get to bounce a shell off the Tiger and maybe scratch its fancy camouflage paint job a few seconds before the Tiger's 88mm gun blows it up. [ April 26, 2007, 04:17 PM: Message edited by: flintlock ]
  15. Indeed, my bad. I typically do actually read a post prior to replying (believe it or not). I need to ensure an adequate level of caffeine consumption before posting, and perhaps not as much distraction. To the OP; sorry.
  16. Appreciate the update and support, fil.
  17. The manual can be found in your default ToW installation directory in a folder named Docs. Typically path may look like: C:\Program Files\Battlefront\Theatre of War\Docs
  18. Have you tried playing it on "veteran" difficulty?
  19. The servers hosting the file are fine. Do a tracert and look for the bottleneck in the loop. When I downloaded ToW, the connection didn't drop below 724 KB/sec and was steady at around 900 KB/sec. A few people reported speeds 400% faster than that. FAQ

    Great thread, fil. Much appreciated!
  21. The model is fine. Perhaps it's the shadows being cast that confuse you.
  22. Grab the Smirnoff and run, commarades!
  23. Yes, you have to throw it away after two installs. That makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? You have two licenses so that you may have ToW installed on two systems (i.e: desktop and laptop). If you need only a single copy installed, and you will reformat your system six times in twelve months, no problem: just ensure you de-activate the eLicense prior to formating or uninstalling ToW. You'll then simply need to reactivate your eLicense once you reinstall ToW. You can repeat this process as often as needed. See this page for additional information on eLicense.
