I just cant work up the interest for WW2 land combat anymore It has been treaded over so much now that I feel been there and done that with every new game Well almost I had a blast with Company of Heroes last fall I still enjoy some WW2 games I am having a blast with Silent Hunter III and the Grey Wolves Mod I still enjoy Panther Games series Highway to the Reich/Conquest of the Agenan Their next game is going to cover the Ardennes 1944 I still remember ordering Red Devils over Arnhem waaay back in the day when Panther was still using Battlefront as a publisher What ever happened between the two? There are still also a few areas that have not been covered well enough. I would love to see a good 2-D turn based game based on the stratigic U-Boat war in which you had to manage all the U-Boats, surface fleets and naval air forces as either the Axis or Allies That is actualy my dream war game at the moment.

I would not really mind if CM never visited WW2 ever again. I have fought more battles in Normandy than did the entire Allied side. But if sales are good then we have a few years of expansion packs for SF to keep us company.

When I first joined up Germany still had quite a bit of ex soviet stuff lying around from the GDR days I believe we had about 3 dozen T-62s and T-72s still in operation by the late 90s. The T-72 I rode on top off was used to haul stuff around and get the Leos when they got stuck in mud of threw a track. One T-62 I saw had its turret removed and a square carriage with railing welded in its place. It had a mini crane and a trailer hitch (is hitch the right word?) welded to the back. It could haul several tonnes of equipment and the crane could lift boxes up to several tonnes I believe. I doubt any are still operable. But getting the east back on its feet was a massive and expensive undertaking and it keeping some of the older stuff around I got to sit inside both models and steve is correct. The T-62 has alot more room. You could tell both models were built for mass production and neither for comfort or getting the crews back alive. Alot of the ex soviet small arms and a few APCs are still in use with former GDR city police forces. Every now and then you will see a BDRM or even the odd BMP parked at a police station for use with SWAT teams

Sadly I laughed, (because it is more then half true, "15 free casualites per mission") but its not so funny considering how many service members including test pilots have lost their lives and left behind grieving family members during the lengthy testing process of this overly expensive alabatros. Statistics about the deaths caused by this aircraft are not handy at the moment, but last time I looked there was a website with a timeline and an alarmingly long list of service members lost in Osprey crashes. Also the average syrian soldier is weighed down with alot less crap as well. Rifle, ammo and some gernades might be all some soldiers carry. If your a US soldier you have a backpack filled with all manner of equipment weighing you down. I have pushed for in the past that Syrian troops be faster and tire slower than US troops.

Alot of people dont practice for anything. They are not in defence or police work or the military and the chance of robbery is small and the chance of having to defend yourself during a robbery is even smaller. So going to the range is a hobby. I have a job that requires fire arm training and I do train. Alot But I do it with a wide varity of weapons since it is also a hobby and something I greatly enjoy doing. It is a very strange notion that the only reason to own a fire arm or to shoot it is to harm someone :confused: I really really dislike shooting at someone or being shot at or even being in situations where there is a chance of either. Yet I really like guns, I dont know maybe im weird. If I can go the next 25 years on this job without ever having to use a firearm, I would take that no questions asked. But I still enjoy guns and I slightly resent the notion that me using them somehow makes me a stone cold killer. And like I said before, using different weapons is not going to make a worse shooter. I pop off over 2000 rounds a month on probably 25 different weapons and suffer not a single adverse effect.

I got the price knocked down to $880 He is going through a nasty divorce and needs all the money he can get so I didnt want to haggle him too much more I took it to the range and fired about 100 rounds from it. Its a little big and a lot heavy, but its balenced well and feels solid. I would never carry it (I use my Sig for that) But it will make a perfect pistol to take to the range. I was extremly impressed with the build quality of the gun. I took it fully apart and every piece fit perfectly together and there were no metal chips or uneven surfaces. I had to do a little sight adjusting, but after I did I got some really tight shot groupings as well at 20 and 35 yards. Not as good as my Sig but that is to be expected since the Sig was designed from the ground up for accuracy. Recoil was very managable due to the weight of the weapon. Overall I was very impressed Does Kimbler hand make their weapons? And since I still have money to splurge now I just have to find a rifle I like. Im going to wind up on some FBI watch list

Lone Syrian is not from Syria nor anywhere even close

Me and someone at work hashed this one out. He said 'but now they can put guided missles onto the battleships' So what? A Ticonderoga class cruiser with the Aegis system can launch missles at 18 different targets and track them for up to 500 miles. And can do it with a ship that is smaller, faster, uses less fuel, takes less crew and has about 1/8 of the matinence cost per year. And hell, if you really really want to fire shells at a target. You have a laser guided 5 inch gun that with ERGM shells can hit targets up to 12 miles out. An armour is not really an issue anymore and has not been since the 50s Is has been 60 years since you could put enough armour on a ship to protect it aganst aircraft bombs and guided missles. So that leaves one thing that a BB can do and that is fire 16 inch broadsides. I will be the first to tell you, those are cool as hell. But also inpractical as hell. Not only do they have very limited usage. They still have a very very very low hit to rounds fired ratio compared to modern system. And a 16 inch shell is like a 406mm artillary shell It does a massive amount of collatral damage even if you do manage to hit your target. Miss your target and you could level a small hotel with one shell. And their range is what? 22 miles at most? And everytime you fire a broadside you have to spend a few hundred thousand dollars and a week of man hours to fix all the **** you break and comb over the structure of the ship. After the long Pacific bombardments in the 40s ships had to spend a while in dry dock fixing are the structral stress damage associated with firing their main guns. And at this point do I really need to add in the fuel cost and that even the modern verions of the Iowas tie down 1600 men? That is 4.5 crews for the Ticonderoga class or 14 Virginia class attack submarines Im done ranting now I really need a social life and to stop letting my work interfer with everything I do :eek:

I could not think of a worse way to waste money than to spend it in brining back a concept that has been dead since Japan did their buisness in Dec of 41 But when its the US military we are talking about, they always manage to suprised me in new and exciting ways of money wasting Seriously, the idea just boggles the mind. If you want to sink a ship in North Korea, have a sub surface 700 miles away and fire a missle at it. If you want to support ground forces then 3 USN carrier task forces and their aricraft can have air superiority and 40% interdiction rates over any nation in the world. The battleship is best left in the dustbin of history where it belongs besides such things as the musket and the broadsword Hacking at someone with a sword is pretty cool and looks pretty damn cool. But I would rather use a modern assualt rifle thank you very much
